Thank You Doctors!!! - A Thanksgiving TR - Page 6 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Not a lot of text to go with this update but a bunch of pictures. After our morning at Epcot, we took the bus over to the Art of Animation resort to check it out and have lunch.
I had a very tasty bacon cheeseburger. My wife had a very good caprese salad and my daughter kids pizza.
Pictures from the dining area
The dining area was nice our only concern was the space seemed to a bit on the small size for the entire resort especially during busy times. Overcrowding could become a problem.
Next, we walked around the grounds to take some pictures.
Mine! Mine! Mine! Mine!
On to the Lion King
Welcome to the Little Mermaid Wing
After we finished our resort tour, we took the bus to Epcot and then a bus back to Wilderness Lodge for a mid-afternoon swim.
Some pics heading into the Wilderness Lodge Villas
We finished our swim and we were refreshed for a late-afternoon/early evening in Epcot....(to be continued).

Glad you folks made it there and back. You daughters fashion sense would right at home with various classes in the City. You choice in Baseball teams is somewhat questionable (sorry lifelong Yankees fan and consider allegiance to a NL team akin to criminal but wife with Fighting Irish redeems you)
Loved pics from AoA have to take time to do a tour through there next year

After recharging our batteries in the pool, we headed to Epcot for some late afternoon rides and dinner. Most people would take the bus from Wilderness Lodge to Epcot since that's the fastest way to get there. However most people don't travel with a seven-year old who loves the monorail. So, we took the boat the Magic Kingdom which then the ferry to the Ticket and Transportation Center and then finally the monorail to Epcot.
Upon our arrival at Epcot, our daughter which quickly drawn to the topiary of Thumper and Flower. Of course, pictures ensured.
DD with Thumper and Flower
We had enough time do two rides after our photoshoot with Thumper and Flower. Our first ride was Spaceship Earth. The weirdest part of the ride came during the questions that you are asked at the end. I rode with my daughter and my wife rode by herself. However, we answered the questions in the exact same way and had the exact video experience at the end. Just odd.
Our second ride was Finding Nemo. Our daughter has gone on a massive Finding Nemo kick since seeing the movie over the summer. Nemo is great because it's a continuous loader which means that the wait is never really that long. This time, my wife and I switched roles. My daughter rode with my wife and I rode by myself. Armed with "Li'l Red" my wife was able to get a couple of pictures during the ride.
Finding Nemo
Fish are friends not food
WE FOUND NEMO!!!!
After Nemo, we headed into the World Showcase. We made a brief stop in the United Kingdom to do a little shopping. I picked up a Liverpool jersey that was on sale. Sadly, I think it's because the store is "phasing out" Liverpool from their inventory probably because of their poor performance on the pitch. However when I got home, I noticed it's was a jersey from the 2011-12 season not the new 2012-13 season because the jersey manufacture is Adidas and not their new manufacture Warrior. My wife got some ideas to buy later in the trip.
We crossed the English Channel and into France to have dinner at Chefs de France. We had a wonderful dinner in France. DD enjoyed the meal because my wife travels to France a lot for work. She even tried sparkling lemonade. It was fun to watch because she would try to brush the bubbles off her tongue when she would take a sip.
After dinner, we headed back toward the hotel. My wife and daughter went back to the room while I took the ferry to the Magic Kingdom from the Ticket and Transportation Center. I was able to take a couple of pictures from my phone on the ferry ride over.
On the ferry ride, I was talking to a woman and her daughter who had a plush Timothy Mouse. I had never seen a plush Timothy Mouse for sale before so I had to ask where I could one. They are available in the new store at Storybook Circus. My first stop was to Storybook Circus to get me a Timothy Mouse.
After obtaining Timothy Mouse, I headed into Tomorrowland and went on a ride that I had never went on before....Astro Orbiter. I went on because I know there is no way that my wife and/or daughter would go on it. While on it, I could see that Buzz Lightyear had a short wait so I went on that next. I still had a few minutes to kill before my FastPass window opened for Space Mountain and my feet hurt so meant one thing...a spin on the Peoplemover. Now my window for Space Mountain had open.
The FastPass line for Space Mountain was short and got a nice spot at the back of the car. After stopping to get the pictures added to our PhotoPass+ card, I trekked across the park to the Magic Kingdom's other two peaks...Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Splash Mountain. The weather was cool so I went on BTMRR first because that had the better chance of having a longer wait. Even BTMRR only had a 10 minute wait. Plus, I used it as a test run to see if my daughter would be able to go on it this year. I decided that she would not like it because of the loud noises at the beginning of the ride. Maybe next trip. By now, the wait at Splash Mountain was non-existent. I was able to walk right on. Even had the option to stay on ride when the ride was over. I decline and then went to add the pictures to PhotoPass+. Once I saw the pictures and I face was completely blocked out by another rider's arm, I declined.
After taking on all three Magic Kingdom peaks, I headed back to the room to rest up for day 3....(to be continued)

Great day and loved pics of Thumper and Flower Have to hope they are out next Thanksgiving. Some luck with SM and option to stay on too bad about pic though
I just read the bit about the Liverpool jersey to my DH and he was very relieved to hear that it was on sale because it was a previous season, not because of their recent poor performance!
