PTR - Cruising with the Perry's on the Fantasy updated 12/04/2013 - Page 6 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Yay, you're on board! Congrats on winning the spa raffle! I'll have to enter the raffle next time I sail.
Definitely do! You have to be present to win and of course they try selling you things as they are doing the raffle. My mom didn't win, but 2 days later she received a $30 credit to use at the spa or salon. It was a thank you for coming to the raffle and entering. That was very nice of DCL. She used it for a Keratin hair treatment. I'm not sure if they give that to everyone who enters?

Day at Sea
We ordered room service for breakfast. I made sure not to eat much since we had brunch at Remy's at 11:30. We took our time getting ready, watching TV and spending time on the verandah. Matt and Haleigh played Goofy's miniature golf twice.
At 9:30 they were having a Pirate Adventure with Jake. We headed to the D Lounge to check it out. The girls had fun!
This was a lot of fun and I'm glad we went!
Once the party with Jake was over it was 10:30. Time for us to get ready for brunch. Matt and I changed then took Lydia to the nursery and Haleigh to the Oceanears Lab! We arrived at Meridian around 11:15 and had a cocktail. They took our group back on time. We had never been into Remy's before, only Palo. The restaurant is beautiful. I enjoyed how they took us to the wine cellar first and gave us an overview of the menu and champagne being offered. I was confused because I thought the $50 included the champagne, but it's an additional $25 per person. It didn't bother us I just wish I would have read it closer when registering on the internet.
Everything we had was AMAZING!!! I am mad at myself because they let us take the menus home and I left mine there. Our server was Yannick. He was fantastic. His wife worked on the Fantasy as well but I can't recall what she did or if he told us. I was really enjoying the view, my company and the food.
Here are pictures of some of the foods we were served.
This dessert was so good that I had two servings. Don't judge! I'm on vacation LOL
The entire meal lasted 2 hours. Matt and I really enjoyed it and if we ever sail on the Dream or Fantasy we'll be enjoying this brunch again! I almost forgot to mention that Remy's has two chefs. One American and French. They both like to work together on making the foods and giving each dish a taste of both cultures. This goes more for dinner than brunch, but I found it interesting!
Once brunch was over we picked up the girls and headed to the pool for 4 hours where Haleigh swam all afternoon with her new friend Haley that she had met on the DME.

Lydia enjoying ice cream
At brunch one of the champagne's we tried is served at the pool. So my parents ordered a bottle for us. I forget the name, but it's interesting because you serve ice in the champagne.
Once 5pm rolled around Matt and I were still full from brunch so we decided to skip dinner tonight. The girls ate at Cabanas. We finished swimming around 6 and showered. Haleigh and I did a little shopping then went to the 8:30 show Aladdin while Matt and Lydia hung out in the room.
Today was fantastic! We did so much yet it felt so relaxing.

That really was a great day for everyone. The smiles on the girls' faces at the Pirate Adventure are wonderful. This is the first real review of the Remy brunch I've read and it looks incredible. Were there any what I think of as "typical" brunch foods-- sort of breakfasty? Or was it more like a tasting menu of mostly lunch or dinner foods? Either way, it looks amazing.
all caught up now! I was really behind! Love your formal dress! You and your family looked amazing! I had something similar happen on my honeymoon cruise and they gave me a credit back because I asked for a dry hair cut and she charged me as if she washed and styled it. But they took it right off and apologized several times! So far sounds like you guys had a wonderful time! cant wait to hear more!

It is incredible! There were not 'typical' brunch foods offered. I know what you're talking about and I was surprised but it didn't bother Matt or I. It was more like a tasting menu. I'm kicking myself for leaving our menus there! I think it was 5 courses and there were 3 different champagne pairings. I have a picture of butternut squash soup, but sadly the picture is of an empty bowl. Everything was delicious! I hope you're able to try it one day. It's very different than Palo's.

Glad you're caught up. Thanks on the comments! I loved that dress. It was very nice of the Spa. I'm glad they took care of you.

Today we went to Cabana's for breakfast. It was nice to switch it up since we had ordered room service the previous days. I really liked the oatmeal and eggs Benedict. Lydia also really enjoyed the oatmeal. Haleigh found out after the first day that they have Krispy Kreme donughts! If those aren't Krispy Kreme then it's close to it and they are delicious!
We weren't getting off the boat today, but I later thought I wish we had. We only got off the boat 2 out of the 7 days and that wasn't enough. If I would have known the girls were going to love the beach and ocean so much we would have planned to get off the boat. We know for next time
After breakfast we swam for 2 hours.
I had planned for us to attend the family craft! Haleigh wasn't too thrilled. She really wanted to keep swimming. Once we got there she warmed up to the idea! We were the first family to arrive and we made buttons.
Where we did the family craft.
Haleigh with her finished button! She made if for her new friend Haley
Afterwards I changed my clothes and went for a run with Lydia while Haleigh went on the mystery hunt with my parents and Matt had time to himself.
After my run I strolled around with Lydia taking pictures.
After taking some pictures I went to the cafe and ordered a Godiva Martini and grabbed some snacks. Matt met me there
The peanut butter dessert on the right was delicious. I had 2
