As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

We got our festive red and green Magic Bands today!!! Also, I am sure this will come as no surprise to anyone but I am also a D 23 member. I got the coolest postcard today from them that has a bunch of Epcot 35th anniversary stuff!!!
I simply cannot wait!!!!!
P.S. I accidentally booked two dining reservations for this month instead of next month and got charged two 20 dollar no show fees. I called Disney Dining and was able to rectify this issue without incident!! This is a super lucky Friday the 13th for me!!

I'm a D23 member, too, and I didn't get a postcard. Maybe one will come tomorrow! Crazy about the dining reservations! That is so easy to do when the date has to be changed every time.

I don’t want to spoil it, but if you don’t get one in the next couple of days, PM me and I’ll give you the website code. You have to sign in anyway to view the cool stuff.
When I was talking with the CM about the ADRs, he said it happened all the time. He said they are working on a more efficient system, so who knows?!
We only have a half day today and will be spending the morning at Epcot. We are planning to take our luggage down to DME and then head over to Epcot. We are looking at Les Halles for breakfast and then just taking our time this morning.
Our last FP+s for this trip will include:
Soarin'
10:00 AM - 11:00 AM
Disney and Pixar Short Film Festival
11:00 AM-12:00 PM
We have to head back to the YC to catch the sad bus around 1:00 PM.
You are not going to believe this! I also swear, this is not something we decided to change! So!
We got an email from WDW yesterday that the Yacht Club would now allow dogs. Muffin and I obviously do not have any problem with this although Muffin told me flat out we would not be taking Lilly. However! Adrienne is deathly afraid of dogs. This is not an allergy or anything like it. She just has an irrational fear of them. When the Adlers come for Thanksgiving, we have to put Lilly in doggy prison.
This presented a real problem, so I called WDW reservations and explained. They said that this was experimental and that the dogs would not be allowed anywhere near the pool or eating areas and were confined to a specific area in the resort. They initially said that they would put a notation on my reservation that we did not want to be anywhere near dogs.
Still, this did not sit well with us because, obviously, people would be walking their dogs outside around the resort. So, of course, I called back tonight and voiced my concerns. The very nice man that I spoke with said that he completely understood and checked to see if there was any other deluxe resort available for two rooms.
He could only find the Grand Floridian which was 1800 bucks more. No. That would not work for us. He then said that he would be happy to transfer me to guest services. He said that my concern was totally reasonable and that sometimes, guest services would be able to find a room that the reservations people just couldn’t see. He said that in any case, my issue was legitimate and it was worth a try.
I spoke with a lady at guest services that was also lovely and said that there may be availability at the Wilderness Lodge. She put me on hold to check and..............
the call got dropped!!!!!
At this point, I was so upset and asked Muffin if I should even call back or just let things be. He told me it was up to me but if I had taken things this far, I should follow through. So!
I called back once again and went through the whole issue once again. This time, I got another lovely CM named Roshawn. I made sure to get her name. She was amazing and listened intently as I went through my issue and then said that she would go over to guest services with me this time and I only spoke with her.
She relayed my story and almost immediately came back with an offer to stay at the Boardwalk with a garden view room for the same price. I talked with Muffin and he said to go ahead and change it. Then!
On top of that she asked if we were celebrating anything and I said that no unfortunately we had an October, two December’s and a January birthday but nothing in November. She then said that we all qualified for a November birthday celebration and should all have balloons and cookies!!
I’m telling you guys, this woman was amazing!!
The bottom line is, we are now staying at the Boardwalk from the 11th -15th of November. She was also able to change our DME reservations for the Adlers and we should be getting new luggage tags for them.
What a long process! But in the end great work on switching resorts at no extra cost and even getting birthday celebrations! I'm not sure I want to stay at a resort with dogs, not that I dislike them, but I do have allergies to them.

Honestly,, Cam, I am sure that the Boardwalk is fine but we love the Yacht Club and am a tad bit disappointed.

We'll be in Epcot on November 15th in the morning too Tara!!! Hope we can meet up to introduce ourselves (I will PM you my cell phone). We're meeting up with Cam and Luke that morning to do Mission Space together which would be so nice if we could all get a group picture!
Sorry you had to go through all that with the room change because of the dogs. I like dogs and have them growing up but I struggle with a dog hair allergy and was not all that thrilled with Disney's decision to try out a few resorts as testers. I hope this doesn't become a resort wide new policy for Disney. In any case, it was so nice of you to switch resorts for the Adlers since I know just how much you love the Yacht Club.
