A Hop, NO Skip, and Many Mishaps to a Disney Dream - Page 59 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I'm trying to think if I've ever been at the end of an end row on Soarin'. Don't remember, but I've always smelled the orange groves, and, best of all, the salt air when flying over the ocean.
Yummmm... Mickey bar!! That's weird that you didn't smell anything on Soarin'. I love the orange groves!
I do have to say on this most recent trip I had center row each time, once front row center and I did smeel the scents both times. It was so neat!

I did smell them this past trip and it was great. I'm in the cool gang now!
I justed wanted to post al ink to another TR I have started.....It's not mine though. On my recently trip to WDW for the Agent Education Program, I brought along Claire's Phineas And Ferb dolls. I took pictures of the mall through the trip, some with my camera and some with my phone. I sent the phone ones to her each day for a little fun and it go be where she would ask me all about what "they" were doing each day when I talked to her. I plan to make a video of all the pictures when I am done and for fun, I am writing a little TR of their trip as well. So join me for a little silly fun.
We weren’t exactly sure where the pick a pearl was. I only knew in Japan and in a store. LOL! So we parked the stroller and headed into the 1st store I saw. After walking towards the back, we saw the crowd of people and knew we were in the right spot. I asked what to do and went and paid and got our number. We watched as others did it. We wanted to see, but then we also didn’t want to get in others way. I did see a family that hung around the front a lot, a lady with her son…and they were NOT doing pick a pearl, just watching. And I have to say she kind of annoyed me. She was in the way a couple of times and didn’t seem to realize it. At one point I said to Claire, loud enough for that lady to hear, that we should move back and allow those getting pearls to have room. She took the hint and moved back too. We eyed a few oysters and Claire had 1 picked out. We watched about 4 families before it was our turn. Now the girls make a big deal over this whole procedure, but honestly I could hardly understand a word they said. And they had smiles plastered on their faces. I noticed they switched out after a few pearl picks…I think they had to go rest their face from smiling. LOL!
Here are a couple of very short videos to show you what I mean.
It was our turn and Claire and I picked out a pearl each. I have heard that the uglier the oyster, the better the pearl…but in my opinion they were all pretty darn ugly. I had mentioned to Claire that sometimes they have 2 in one, and she was hoping for that. I personally was hoping for a blue one.
We opened Claires 1st.
As soon as I saw Claire’s pearl I knew it was big. The sizes that had come before us were in the 6.5-7mm range. Claire’s was 7.5mm. (which really is a lot in pearl size) Of course the CM was all excited and made a big deal about it.
Mine was next and I took another quick video. I prayed there was only one in there. If I had 2 and Claire didn’t…there probably would be crying…of course I would’ve given her my second one. I sound really dumb in this. I was trying to sound really excited along with Claire.
My pearl was smaller, but she said it had a nice pink tone to it. OK, sure, it looked white to me, but what do I know?
Mine measured a 7mm. That made Claire very happy. It was important for hers to be better than mine. We got the drums to celebrate.
We got our pearls and then headed out of the store and onto a bench. We pulled out our necklaces and I went to work putting them in. Sounds like it would be easy…right? Well it wasn’t so much for Claire’s. Her pearl was big and I really had to work to get her pearl cage closed and then still get the chain through the link. Of course this made it even better in her mind. We did get them in the cages and put them on.
I had never really looked in Japan much, so I took a few minutes to look and take a few pictures.

I've never really watched the pearl ceremony, but from now on, will notice those young women smiling like their lives depend on it! I do love the store, though, and the gardens around the pavillion.
The pearl thing is so cool!! I didn't know they had that there?! I've done the one at Sea World - I like how the guy dives down for the oyster! I will definately check out this pearl experience in Japan next time we are there!!
Love all the pictures, the ones with Mary Poppins are adorable. Sorry about the too salty food at Le Cellier, that is what I have heard alot since it went to signature...which is such a shame. Hoping that they hear the comments and make the necessary changes.
Cool necklaces, ladies!! I'm assuming that mom got the Cindy Carriage cage as well? Or were there different choices? Great pics as usual, and I'm glad tat all was okay for you, just your vacation fighting back a little bit....
