I Don’t Wanna Grow Up – 30th Birthday Trip x2, August 7-11, 2010 - Page 58 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

We made our way to the bus stop via Zawadi Marketplace. Gotta get in some shopping right away! We both saw things we liked and made mental notes of them.
We got to the bus stop and were soon on one to DHS. We arrived about 1pm – not bad. [We actually had very good bus service to/from AKL this trip.]
Mike had to stop and get his picture taken with the Last Tour to Endor sign before entering the park.
Once inside we decided to explore the shops along Sunset Blvd and head towards ToT. I think Mike was going to ride ToT or get a FP, neither of which worked out for us at the time, so we headed back down the other side looking in the shops. As we were about done on that side it started to rain so we waited it out in the shops. In the candy store that’s connected I remember seeing Mickey head rice krispy treats bigger than my head! I wish I would have gotten a picture now.
Soon the rain let up enough for us to head to Sci-Fi as our ADR was approaching. We checked in 15 minutes early for our 2:30pm ADR. It wasn’t as crowded as it normally is in this area, but they were still turning people away. I think if you had 2 people as a walk-up you could be seated, but nothing more than that. We had a 5-10 minute wait and were then seated in our car.
I had a pomegranate lemonade in the TS3 souvenir cup with Buzz light up clip and Mike had a Blue Moon (which he ended up having a refill on later). [I meant for the cup and Buzz to be a souvie for Dylan when we got home and took them back with me to the room. I rinsed the cup out and put in near the sink and one day the mousekeeper either took it or threw it away! I did still have the light up clip though. But I was kind of bummed/annoyed at the cup disappearing.]
I had the bacon cheeseburger with fries and Mike had the Reuben with fries. I think we both cleaned our plates.
Other than the food we love the atmosphere here. I know not everyone loves the food, but it’s a darn good cheeseburger (which is all I’ve ever had) and Mike really enjoys the Reuben here too. We love the old sci-fi monster movies and the intermission songs they play. I especially love to see Tom & Jerry.
Our waitress also brought me out a birthday sundae! Which I shared with Mike and we enjoyed every bit of it too!
We were done with our late lunch about 3:30pm and headed down the Streets of America, which were practically empty. We saw a lonely PP guy so we had him take some pics – to be added later once I get the cd, I’m almost done with adding borders. Then we made our way and saw Lightning McQueen & Mater with no wait so we decided to see them really quick – Dylan LOVES Cars! We stopped in the Muppets shop and thought about getting Mike’s Dad something with Statler & Waldorf, but didn’t.
Next up we headed towards Star Tours since Mike is such a Star Wars nerd. [I offered to extend our trip once we heard about Celebration V, but he declined.] We looked in Tattooine Traders for a bit and upon exiting saw that ST only had a 10 minute wait so I encouraged Mike to go ride it while I took a seat at the Backlot. Just as I sat down the Jedi Training Academy started. It’s a really cute show and we’re hoping Dylan might want to try it next year. After Mike’s ‘Last Tour to Endor’ (I don’t think he got a chance to ride it again this trip), we checked out the Indy stuff and the shops along Hollywood Blvd before leaving the park to head back and rest in the room for a little bit before heading to MK for the MSEP.
Sounds like a wonderful trip so far, love the pictures of the room and we love the Sci-Fi, it is defitely a must do for us, DD loves the Rueben as well . Hope that the decorations got put as before you got back, that would be such a cool surprise.
Can't believe that you are under a month for the newest arrival...you look wonderful by the way. You are carrying just so perfectly
Great update!!! Your pictures are awesome (you are so cute together!)
Lunch at SciFi looks like so much fun & the food...oh my....if you hadn't sold me on it already, you really have now!!! Can't wait to read more!!!
I've only eaten at Sci-Fi once, and it was with an ex -boyfriend. I remember not liking it too much, but I don't remember if it was the food or the company. That sundae looks delish!!!
Kelly, you look absolutely wonderful. You are all belly, which is great!!
I love that view from you room, just breathtaking.
We love SciFi too. It is our arrival dinner in December. I think the food is great and so is the atmosphere. The girls absolutely love it there. I think it is sitting in the car and being at the drive in.
Nice start toyour trip Kelly. You still look greatandbeautiful. Glad to hear Dylan didn't take it hard. I can completely relate to crying on your mommy's shoulder as I know I will be doing the same leaving my mom on her departure day from Disney. Yourroom looks wonderful. So sorry to hear Mousekeeping threw away thr TS3 cup you were going to bring back as a souvie for Dylan. Glad tohear Mike got to enjoy one last ride to Endor before the new one comes. I bet you're ready for Lukas' arrival. More please Kelly.
I shouldve never read this before dinner LOL That burger looked just awesome!!
Funny...last year we couldn't get out of the shop in the hotel to get on a bus. I ended up saying "they sell this everywhere Eric now come on" LOL
I too love the atomosphere at the Sci fi drive in because they play those old B movie trailers which are too funny and I like the drive in type atomosphere. Its a cool place to eat for sure!
Too bad about the cup! I wouldve been really upset!
I REALLY HOPE they put up those decorations after all you went through!
You look great! I hate they throw away the Toy Story cup! Rice crispy treats are my fav. I could eat that whole huge Mickey head! Cant wait to hear if the decorations got put up!!
