It’s Almost Disney Time, Mom! PTR UPDATED 6/18 - Page 58 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Now she is pestering her Dad since he has not started to pack yet. She keeps telling him, “You are tardy, you are late, you are not ready!”
Trivia: 7.5 MPH is the high-speed thrill of driving a Tomorrowland Indy Speedway. But Stefanie manages to give me “swishlash” on every ride. I work the pedal (no way she’d have the strength) and she steers or attempts to steer, allowing the car to hit the metal bar time after time as she wildly tries to over-correct. This is one of her favorites and as a result I love it, too.
** Don't feel bad Stefanie - I also give people swishlash too!! My car last year just didn't want to go and I had a parade behind me - they were all hollering at me
It is almost time. Good luck finalizing your packing and school year. We still have until June 10 for graduation. We are continuing to enjoy your PTR. We hope to start our first one soon. We will certainly use yours as a guide!

Congrats on the packing!! I always enjoy packing for a trip, it's the unpacking I hate!!
I've made a packing list for all our trips and now that Travis is in college, he'll tell me he still uses a list. According to him, "it helps him remember what to pack". Guess I raised him right!
ALMOST TIME!!!! I hope ya'll have a wonderful and magical time!
I just found your PTR! Read it all today!
Such fun, I know that Stefanie is bouncing off the walls! Love the new luggage, we have the soft-side Samsonite four-wheels and WE LOVE IT! I can pull the big one too! Love Stefanie's Tinkerbell case, thinking of getting one for my granddaughter for our December trip.
Tell Stefanie with an F hi from Stephanie with a P-H....
Ok, I'm all caught up again!! I'll be curious about the 7th land after the Fantasyland expansion, too. I'm like you and thinking it will be 6. We'll see! Anyway, YOU'RE ALMOST THERE!!!

Luke looked at all I'd packed so far and was excited that it's not taking as many suitcases. I will definitely tell Stefanie you said hi.

I went out this morning to pick up stuff at Target and to look for items for the goodies bags Stefanie and I are taking to the PassPorter meet in Nashville. I seemed to have lost track of time as it was two hours later when I finally arrived home. But while I was gone, Luke was a busy boy and pulled out all his shorts plus most of the t-shirts he wants to take. So the two hours were quite productive as I was able to find a neat gift for me to give, and the dollar aisles at Target were quite helpful for Stefanie’s gift. I also picked up what I hope are the last items we’ll need for vacation. I also picked up the Toy Story 3 Spud Lightyear as I want to fill up a box this year with cool Disney parts so he (or she) can change throughout the year as he helps decorate my scrapbook room.
Once home I unpacked all the treasures, put the goodies in gift bags, and transferred what I could into the suitcases. Then I helped Luke figure out the rest of his stuff that needed packing and transferred all of his clothes to his suitcase. The three of us just have a few items left to pack up, mainly shoes and toiletries we’ll need until right before we go.
I have made out a rather long list of tasks/chores to be done before we leave in 6 days, but it is all manageable. Tomorrow I’m back at school for 2 last days.
Trivia:
6 restaurants/dining options are located on Main Street U.S.A, they include: Tony’s Town Square Restaurant, Main Street Bakery, Plaza Ice Cream Parlor, The Plaza Restaurant, Casey’s Corner, The Crystal Palace. As of last year we have eaten at them all and truly each one.
6 trains on the Big Thunder Mountain railroad are named. The names of the trains are: I.M. Brave, I.M. Fearless., I.B. Hearty, U.B. Bold, U.R. Daring, and U.R. Courageous. Truly Disney names!
6 distinct rooms are in it’s a Small World, they include: The first room is the loading/unloading area. It is followed by the European room, the Far East room, the African room, the islands of the Pacific room, and the final, "white room" celebrating children of all cultures.
I can't believe it's so close Cam!! This time last year I was as close as you are now!! I hope the next few days goes by quickly for you - and Stefanie.

Sounds like another productive day between your shopping and Luke's packing. How awesome all 3 of you have very little to pack up. As for the 6 restaurants on Main Street we will only have one left to try (The Plaza) on a future trip as CP and Casey's we will be trying this trip, and Tony's, MSB, & Plaza Ice Cream Shop we love and have tried.
I love all the names of the trains on BTMRR and I don't think I've ever counted the # of rooms on IASW(sadly we get it refurbed in Sept.). Getting closer Cam!
Well Cam, you are down to your last couple of days at school and then you are off to WDW! Can you believe it?
The end of the school year is wonderful, isn't it?
Congrats on getting the packing all done! That new suitcase sounds great! So you are only having to take one suitcase?
I am sure that Stefanie is very happy that Luke finally got his packing done too!
Have a great last week of school!
