As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

We were in WDW last weekend but it was soo cold and rainy on Sunday that we decided to head north to home earlier than planned. So we missed AK this trip.
I am so glad you are making a difference while you are there. I know you are going to be terrribly missed, if you don't get to stay on. They will definetly regret not keeping you.
To be honest, it's been awhile since we did the suggestions, but one I can remember is a "Rock Race" using the dinosaur grabbers and rock specimens. I was thinking it would be a fun way to give the kiddos who are too small to ride Dinosaur something to do while they wait. I'm also working on a Dinoland Birthday Song, but my VP doesn't know about that one yet...
I took DDs to AK today for FOLK. 20yo's new boyfriend hadn't seen it yet (and he's a theater major). I haven't seen it in almost 2 years (I know, sad story!). I cried. I mean, sobbed, ugly cry cried. I think the camp counselor wanted to ask me if I was OK. What did me in was:
"It's the Circle of Life
And it moves us all
Through despair and hope
Through faith and love
Till we find our place
On the path unwinding"
I feel like my path is finally unwinding, even for a little while, and it amazes me every day that I get to be a very small part of that kind of magic.
I left them at Everest (then they hopped to DHS for the evening and had a nice time) and headed over to work in the MR again this afternoon/evening. We had a slight problem with the register that I was supposed to have early (the other one quit, so mine had to stay open), but I was able to get everything done on time. I think I'm finally finding a groove! It also helps that my coordinator is a very smart person who knows all the little tips and tricks and doesn't mind sharing them. I like her and will miss her dearly when I leave.
While I was out collecting vouchers, I got to help make some magic for a few of our smaller guests who sometimes struggle with the games. I've noticed that some of the other games people aren't quite as pixie-dusted as I am, so I tend to run a quick Mom/Son game while I'm unlocking the vouchers. Hey, it's 2 players to start the game, right???
The other thing I'm enjoying about MR is that there is some freedom and I guess I project a sense of responsibility/leadership/whatever you want to call it, because I get a LOT of guest interaction while I'm out "harvesting" the vouchers. I answer LOTS of questions and can really spend some time giving guests good suggestions, directions, etc because I'm not caught up in completing the sale or loading the rides or stocking the carts. Yes, I have work to do, but it's nothing that is going to keep guests waiting. I've even had a couple thank me for taking the time to talk to them and that makes me smile.
Have I mentioned lately that I love my "job"? BTW, I still get to see Goofy and Pluto out my "office" window every day.
Oh, and yesterday morning, Meeko was coming offstage just as I was heading into work and he ran and grabbed a trash can and tried to take it with him. It was funny.

Its so nice to hear how much someone loves their job. I wish there were more people in the world like you. Its great to know that you are spreading the pixie dust everyday to guest and that is why we who love Disney so much go back year after year; to experience that magic. Keep up the good work!
