10 Nights of Magic in The Orlando Trifecta-TR - COMPLETE!! 12/10 - Page 57 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Love the laid back atmosphere to your touring this evening! Sounds like you found a great location to watch IllumiNations!
A nice relaxing time in Epcot, which I love at night. Seems I have a good location for the show and not usually the one I would think of for a great view as not a centered one.

You are so right about Epcot and just love being here at night. My one food offering in Japan was exceptional and the beverages were not too bad either! Especially the orange slush!

Your night photos of WS are beautiful. May I ask what kind of camera you're using?
Wait, WHAT? The France booth has another line ?! Dang, wished I'd known that.
How fortunate you got a nice viewing location for Illuminations , and how sad we're both feeling wondering if it's our last time
Glad you are enjoying these! There is another line in France and easy to miss. Glad I secured a good viewing location and plenty of photos of the show in next update! Hope this wasn't my last show of Illuminations. Hope to see it in October, 2019.
I'm not actually using a camera but my Galaxy Android phone. They really take good photos and especially at night. Much more convenient than having to lug a camera around the parks when you're going on attractions etc.

Funny you should say that. My Galaxy Android takes much better photos in our garden, as it's able to get more up close to all the flowers than my Nikon camera that cost something like $700. Don't get me wrong, it will never replace my camera (can't better the 60x optical zoom on that thing), but my goodness, it says something that a phone can do some things better than a proper camera these days. One day I suspect all we'll be using are our phones to take pictures....

It's quite odd with the camera phones. It takes much better photos at night than my camera does. The convenience of it is good as well.

Sounds like a wonderfully relaxing evening around the World Showcase! I never knew the Hanson Brothers started their own brewery! Glad you were able to get a good view for Illuminations. It is so easy to watch it from the Int'l Gateway bridge as it can get pretty crazy with everyone trying to leave Epcot around the same time.

I really enjoyed my evening in Epcot! They started the brewery several years. Where does time go as the three brothers are now in their mid to late 30's. I thought I had a good spot for the show as it would be a nice exit to the Boardwalk area.

Monday, October 9th (Part V) I waited for the show to begin over the next ten minutes or so and we got the usual countdown announcements. The torches were all lit up around World Showcase.
It was now show time as it darkened around the lake and the drumbeats began! A comet like fireworks shot streaked across the sky above the lake and the show was underway and then the fireballs followed. I always find these fireballs amazing when you can feel the heat from them. For the most part, I’ll let the photos tell the story!
One of the best things about this show is the accompanying soundtrack, which I know by heart and never tire of. I have the cd and is on my iTunes. I always play this leading up to and after a WDW trip!
One of my favorite parts of the show as the globe begins its’ trek across the lake.
Some of the photos didn’t come out great, but overall I was happy with them.
Now, the fountains make their appearance!
Another part of the show I look forward to when the international pavilions are all lit up, just prior to the finale!
It was on to the finale! And as always, it would not disappoint. At times, there were some trees in the way on the left side but I overcame this by more zoom shots with my camera.
I like this one with the colors of the aerials and the globe beneath it!
The final aerials lit up the sky with another memorable and mesmerizing Illuminations-Reflections of Earth came to an end!
With all the rumors circulating that this show may be replaced, will this be the last time I see this? I certainly hope not, but just may happen. If it does happen, I hope it’s replaced by an even better show, but this will be tough one as this show is so special to myself and so many others. I can see them doing it with the additions of the Riviera resort and Space themed restaurant that will incorporate views for the show and Disney may want a new one for these new additions. We shall see. I just hope I get one more chance to see it in October, 2019 as that’s the plan right now!
Well the show was over and soon the exit music of “We Go On” began. I took my time exiting Epcot as it would be an easy one from the International Gateway as just steps away from the bridge location I had for Illuminations.
So, tranquil now in the UK just minutes after the show ended.
There were a lot of people exiting through the International Gateway but not overwhelming like the main exit through Future World gets and you can barely move with the mass exodus. After taking in some of the scenery in World Showcase, I began my walk back to the Boardwalk area and the Dolphin.
NEXT: What a Grand Welcoming This Is!

Oh my gosh!! Those are some gorgeous shots of Illuminations!! It seems as though the bridge was a great spot to watch it!! Best of all, what a wonderful spot to leave from!!
You got some beautiful shots of Illuminations! Nice idea to listen to the soundtrack before and after the trip. I do that with my parks music CD. And I also find loops from the various parks on YouTube. Music is such a good way to get in a Disney frame of mind!
Great shots of the fireworks, this is my favourite night time show. I am sure if they replace it, it will be with something equally as good.
Easily my favorite show at night and a must on every trip! I see it once per trip in general but need to see it more often.....like every night! I never get tired of it from the fireworks, pirotechnics and the music as so many great elements to this amazing show! I'm guessing as well, if there is a replacement it will be just as good, if not better! But at the same time, I will be quite sad if this show is no more as I love it so much! One of my faves in all of WDW!

Overall it was a very good locale to watch the show and enjoyed it so much! Glad I found a front row opening. There was some blockage from the trees at the end for the final aerial fireworks, but I was happy with this as I got some great photos! Even better as a great exit from here to the Boardwalk, which you will see a lot of on my next post!
