Live, Laugh, Relax with Cam and Fam Completed 7/31 - Page 57 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Just finished catching up and I am amazed at the amount of stuff you get done, but you say you stay for 11 days. How relaxing. Great pics and character interactions.
I hope Luke can find out why his ENT problems are getting him down now. I hope he feels better soon.
great interaction at Chef Mickeys. I can't help but notice the bigger and even brighter smiles on Stefanie. She seems to be really enjoying the opportunity to show her Aunt and Uncle around.
My Memory as I age fails me more and more.... but is this the Uncle that made a scavenger hunt for Stefanie and wrote something in a phone book for her. (I seem to recall someone did .. was it this Uncle?
Actually, that was her uncle Rob, Luke's younger brother. We get confused sometimes because Stefanie calls all her relatives over the course of a month. We have to have her clarify sometimes if the conversation she is relaying to us was with Bob or Rob. She adores both uncles as well as all of her other uncles. Each is her favorite based on where he lives: e.g. Rob is her favorite in Alabama and Bob is her favorite in Florida. So cute!

I mean, they live close? Right?
Now, back to all of those great purchases you guys made! Any pictures of them?
I am so glad that Pam had a magical day at the MK! And there is no better way to end it then with a delicious meal at Chef Mickey's!
All of the pictures are wonderful!!
They do live close, only about 40 - 45 minutes away.
I know this was a little while back, but I just had to comment on it!

I this! That is why I get upset if I hear someone swear or something at WDW, because it is too MAGICAL a place for that. I love it that the magic just overcomes some people. That's Disney for ya!
Cam, I just got working on your TR and I'm about halfway through! I it! I can't wait to read more! Great reports and fantastic pictures! Stephanie seems like such a sweetheart, and what character! I just love reading about her! Great job! I be sure to catch up on the rest really soon!!

See . . . now you're family can pull off the plate picture! I love it! And it doesn't surprise me that your sister is feeling the magic around you guys!
In all the years I've been going to WDW, I still have yet to see the water art. Maybe next time I'll happen to stumble upon it...who knows. Looks like you had a great time at Chef Mickey's...awesome interaction. Can't wait for more!
I was just able to catch up because I have been having problems with the internet at home. It has been so frustrating as I love following you through Disney.
As always your pictures are just so wonderful. I especially loved the one of Stefanie with your sister. They both look so happy. It made my eyes "sweaty" reading about Pam's reaction to the castle. I feel like that every time.
I am ready for the next installment!
Finally all caught up again, and I was so happy that Pam enjoyed her visit and really seemed to get the magic! It's too bad that she spent so long thinking that she would hate it!
Hey Cam...just reading up on my PP newsletter which said the Home page has been updated. So, I clicked over to take a look and under one of the "Buzz" sections is a big picture of you, Stef and Minnie!! Very Cool!
I just simply how you can see the joy in all of your faces in these pictures...and I really love the picture with Bob and Stefanie and Goofy. I just want to reach through the computer and you all!
On a side note, has your neice ever been to WDW? I know it was Pam's first time but I was wondering if her kid(s) were ever able to go. If you live 45 minutes away from Disney World and don't take your kids isn't that considered child abuse in the state of Florida?
Cam, I loved your update on Chef Mickeys, and the plate pictures are too cute!

Love the pictures of chef mickey with the monorail in the background!
The water painting was so cool! How do they get it to not evaporate right away in the hot FL sun? I hope we get to see something like that!
One question--Where did you get the super cute red mickey T-shirt? I LOVE IT!!!
I have wondered since we got home why I didn't ask the artist how it stayed there.
My red t-shirt is one Pam gave me for Christmas last year. She found it at WoD in November at a greatly reduced price. Unfortunately, I didn't see any just like it when we were there, but there are some in the same style and fabric with a variety of characters on them.

I couldn't help but think of you all and the rude characters. I was a bit afraid it would happen when I had my sister and her DH with us. But it was great. I'm still so sorry that you all and Hope had to put a with being ignored.

I checked out the new Home page yesterday afternoon and was excited that 2 of my photos from the archives had been used with posts. Then last night I went on to check again and the first thing that popped up was Minnie with Stefanie and me. So cool! I immediately sent the link to my Dad and DMiL as they both get my getting excited over these boards.

I've thought so for years. My niece and nephew both have visited WDW many times since turning 18. They've bought their own passes and enjoying exploring. I felt bad because my niece didn't think MK would be that fun as her friends always steer her away from it. But when she heard her Mom gushing about it, she really wished she had joined us. She's ridden PoTC but not much else. So maybe she'll join us next year, though I could tell a MK trip was in the near future for her.
