10 Nights of Magic in The Orlando Trifecta-TR - COMPLETE!! 12/10 - Page 56 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I can imagine a nap would be just the thing after a large lunch with lots of wine. Love the photos of your resort!
Yes, and most certainly! Although, I think I had a bit more wine at my V & A's dinner with Dot and Drew. But then again that was about four hours and ten courses and spread out more, which was good. I wasn't expecting the servers to keep coming around with the wine, but I wasn't exactly turning it down! It made the meal more interesting with my table mates and we had a great time. I'll do one of these F&W Fest meals once again next time, which should be October, 2019.
The other thing is I'm more of a night drinker for some reason and it affects me more during the day. Either way, I enjoyed myself and glad I did this.
Glad you like the photos of the Dolphin and much more to come and especially at night, when the resort is just so beautiful!

Wow, you were tired to sleep for that long! I guess you needed it after that lunch and all that walking.
It was a good nap and needed from the heat and the big lunch as well.

Such a nice walk back to Swan and Dolphin! The walkway between the two hotels really is beautiful but especially all lit up at night. Glad you got a well needed afternoon nap in before heading back to Epcot!

I always enjoy the walks in this area of WDW! Just so much to see. The walkway is amazing and even better at night as you will see in upcoming posts. The nap was well needed after a big lunch and being so hot and humid today! Funny, that I could do a whole update with just the walk back to my hotel!

I had thought I commented but I guess I didn't. Anyway...seems like your nap was well deserved. I know for me, drinking during the day warrants a little nap time and hey you're on vacation!
Sounds like a much needed nap! Great pictures from Epcot and the resort!
Glad you enjoyed the photos! A nap was most welcomed by me!

I'm with you in regards to drinking during the day as affects me much more than at night! Not sure what does this for many people and something with the daylight perhaps? Or maybe not fully hydrated yet and have only had one meal going into this, which could make a difference? Definitely enjoying myself while on vacation!

I Don’t Think There Will Be a Lot of Eats Tonight!
Monday, October 9th (Part IV) I woke up from my nap at around 5:15 pm. I felt quite good and refreshed. It was what I needed before returning to Epcot shortly. I felt fine from the wine at lunch, but I didn’t feel that hungry and still quite full! I don’t think there will be a lot of eats tonight! But, I will try if up to it.
I got ready to go out and I also prepared everything for the morning as tomorrow would be my first experience with Pandora in the Animal Kingdom which I was looking forward to! After doing all of this, I left my room around 6 pm and out the rear entrance of the Dolphin and began my walk to Epcot.
Starting to get dark out
In about ten minutes I arrived at the International Gateway entrance in Epcot’s World Showcase. There was quite a big line and much more so than this morning. After going through security, I was in the park in just minutes. It looked quite crowded but not a crazy level. It usually is at night in the World Showcase as it’s the Food & Wine Festival, many go to the eateries for dinner and Illuminations later this evening.
Once, I came to the bridge in the International Gateway, I took a right for my first destination this evening and France. I wasn’t feeling any effects from the wine earlier, so I was open for trying some beverages at the Food & Wine Festival. I just wasn’t hungry yet!
Barges in position on Crescent Lake for Illuminations
I arrived at the bottom of the bridge and walked over to France’s kiosk for the festival. There was a line, but it wasn’t too bad. For this kiosk, there are also windows in the rear of the kiosk that everyone forgets about and very few people there as most head to the front windows with the long lines.
I looked over the beverage offerings and saw the La Passion Martini Slush on the menu which I enjoyed so much last year. But, there was something else in France I’d rather have and walked to the Les Vins Chefs de France kiosk. I think you know what I was desiring!
There were a few people in front of me in line and I just waited a few minutes to be served and always worth the wait! This is always a very popular kiosk in World Showcase. Below is what I waited for!
Orange Slush with Grand Marnier, Rum and Orange Juice. It looks good and they are! Certainly, my favorite beverage in World Showcase! I had to be careful taking this photo as I didn’t want someone to come along and grab it!
I hung out a bit in France near the fountain and savored my Orange Slush. I then headed towards Morocco and onward, while enjoying my delicious beverage. They are so good and go down quite easy. I could have a few of these, but I won’t be.
Plenty of booths at the Festival but just passing by most of them.
In Morocco on a Monday evening. Not too crowded and Mondays are a good day to go to the festival.
Soon, I was approaching Japan and I was getting a little hungry but not that much. I had looked over the menus before my trip and I knew there was something here I wanted.
The line at the booth was very short and it only took a couple of minutes for me to be waited on and pick up my appetizer.
Salmon BLT Sushi Roll. Maki Roll with Lettuce, Cabbage and Carrots topped with Yuzu Miso Salmon, Tomato and Bacon Chips. I can assure you the roll is under all of this!
This was excellent and a great choice as the salmon and sauce were so flavorful. The bacon added a lot to the flavor as did the tomato. Just a well-balanced offering. It was quite filling as well.
After enjoying my sushi roll, I explored the Japan pavilion for a while, before continuing my trek through the world showcase. Over the next hour there would be no more beverages for me except water as I wanted to save myself for a bit later as Illuminations got closer.
I basically was just taking in the World Showcase at night and enjoying it. I felt full again after the sushi roll, which was a good sized portion and just tried to walk it off for a while. I arrived at the American Adventure and checked out the beverage menu at their festival kiosk and didn’t see anything I wanted. I went over to the Block & Hans kiosk and decided to go with a beer, which I had last year.
Hanson Brothers Beer Company Mmmhops Pale Ale
I enjoyed this and Pale Ales can be a bit filling, considering how much I ate at lunch. This is produced by the three brothers of the band Hanson from the 1990’s who are Isaac, Taylor and Zac, and started their own brewery several years ago. They also play every year at the Eat to The Beat Concerts.
Tonight’s featured performer whom I saw some of last year
I continued walking and arrived in Italy to do some exploring. This is one of my favorite pavilions in the World Showcase. It was probably around 8 pm and only an hour until Illuminations. I just had to keep that in mind and arrive at my location that I desire for the show by 8:45 pm. It’s not as crowded in Epcot tonight, so I should be fine.
The Italy pavilion looks amazing all lit up!
Before going to my Illuminations viewing area, I got a glass of Rosa Regale wine to enjoy for the show. These are always so good. It was available out front near the festival kiosk. I began to head in the direction I came from for my viewing area. Last year I watched in Italy from a VIP area, which I was lucky to have access to. I got this with my Chase Disney Visa card. Since, Chase is no longer the sponsor of the festival, I was out of luck on this!
United Kingdom
Like these buildings in the United Kingdom
An amazing view for Illuminations is available on the outdoor patio, but not easy to get.
I continued walking and hoping to find a good location, where I could get good photos, but all locations seemed quite full up front. I continued walking and into Canada and the same luck.
I turned around and after a few minutes I arrived at the International Gateway and on the bridge. I’ve never watched the show from here as I didn’t think there would be a good view from here but I was happy with the view. There are better views in the World Showcase, but getting out of Epcot from those will be much worse than from here. I should have an easy exit after the show to the Epcot Resorts area. I also found a front row opening on the bridge, which made me happy for getting some nice photos. It was about 8:45 pm and I just waited as show time got closer.
NEXT: Will This Be the Last Time I See This?

Your evening stroll through World Showcase sounds wonderful!! That food looked so good and perfect after a huge lunch!! Glad you were able to find a spot on the bridge for Illuminations!!
Great pictures, Epcot is so pretty at night, hope your viewing spot works out.
Epcot is just so amazing lit up at night just prior to Illuminations! I think my spot may work out well for me!

I just love those beverages and will never tire of them! I was a bit worried about finding a spot and glad I backtracked and lucked out with a front row for my photos!

I always enjoy this at Epcot just prior to Illuminations! The sushi hit the spot and was quite good! I was a bit worried that I wouldn't find a spot for Illuminations but lucked out somehow.
