Living the dream and remembering the Bagman UPDATED 3/21 - Page 56 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

You really captured some beautiful night time shots on the People Mover! So sorry that you started to not feel well and I'm sure the heat contributed to it.
I'm sure it did too.

I love the moving gravestone picture. Technology is just so amazing.
When they mentioned what it was, we just had to try it.

How frustrating that the heat and humidity were still interfering with the enjoyment of the party! But I can imagine seeing Hallowishes from the bungalow is going to be so cool!
Sorry you were having tummy troubles and I'm betting that the heat wasn't helping. (But I would honestly take some of that tonight, we're expecting another 18 inches of snow tonight. Not looking forward to digging out tomorrow morning..sorry for hijacking, just had to vent for a moment. Back to the regularly scheduled trip report!)

Friday 23 September – part eleven: watching Wishes from the bungalow
We continued on our way…
So where were we going? We hadn’t made it on to the Haunted Mansion earlier, and no Halloween Party is complete without doing that, so we headed in.
We practically walked on, and had the best stretching room ever. Honestly, people knew the words and the screams everyone let out at the end was just classic. However, it did set at least two kids off screaming, so sorry to those parents…
Thankfully we didn’t break down, which was a relief after our Disneyland Paris experience in May, and made it out safely. We did think the bit with the hitch hiking ghosts was a bit stupidly overlit, we’d never seen it like that before.
When we came out, we ran into Janine, Marie and Stephanie again, and they were about to go on the Haunted Mansion. We looked and the wait time was now 30 minutes. Wow, how the heck did that happen? We passed on the photo by the Haunted Mansion, which was a huge shame, but the line for that was just insane. They also had a treat line here as well, which was not sensible. They had so many lines altogether, you just couldn’t work out what the heck was going on. Not good planning on Disney’s behalf.
We started to make our way out…
… and went into the Emporium, where I got a T-shirt. Then we headed out of the park:
I was really sad about the parade, and I’d have liked a couple more Photopass photos (the lines at the entrance to the park were still crazy too ), but we did as much as we could in the heat. We are just so not used to this.
We headed for the resort launch dock, and were stunned when this brute appeared.
It turned out this is used for some of the fireworks cruises, and I’m not quite sure how we got it, as they took it out of service as soon as we got to the Poly. Our crew were hysterical, handing out imaginary wine and cheese, and telling us “Disney encourages you to use your imagination!” The kids on board weren’t impressed though – “there’s nothing there”…
When we got back to the Poly, I went to get pineapple Dole Whip floats for both of us, which was a really bad idea. It was too much for my body, and I almost collapsed on the way back to the bungalow. I really had overdone it. I wasn’t even sure I could stay awake for the fireworks, but in the end, I decided I wasn’t going to miss these.
It was so lovely to sit out on the veranda and watch HalloWishes from there. At first, we weren’t sure they were going to pipe the music in, as we could hear talking from the Magic Kingdom, but once it started, sure enough the music kicked in. It was like our own private party, and wow, what a great experience it was. I can see why the bungalows cost so much, as they do have so many bonuses to them, like this and the plunge pool. I’d love to be able to afford to stay here again, although I doubt it will ever happen…
I decided to try out the fireworks setting on my camera, although you need to be able to prop it up to use this, so it won’t always work, but in this situation it was perfect.
After that, we retreated straight to bed, utterly exhausted.
The weather today was hot and sunny with temperatures in the mid 90s. The best thing today was catching up with so many friends. The worst thing today was not being able to see the Halloween Party parade. The funniest thing today was Mark and Barb with Piglet. Today we tried the Skipper Canteen And the result was I was impressed with it. The most magical moment today was seeing HalloWishes from our room.
Next: that’s where all the people would sleep then!
Great photos from the Peoplemover, especially the indoors ones! I always struggle to get those in focus.
I totally understand your giving up in the heat. It's the way I give up in the cold. I've missed out on a few things with the kids in the winter (sledding, ski hill tubing) because I just cannot handle the cold. You know your body and its limits. And when you're done, you're done. It's a bummer. But you gotta be smart!

Oh completely and my chronic fatigue is always much worse with extreme heat or cold.
Sorry you had to cut the party short because you weren't feeling well. At least you got a couple last Photopass pictures and ride on the Haunted Mansion before heading home. So glad that they piped in the music for Hallowishes. Your pictures of the fireworks are amazing!!
Oh my goodness, the fireworks view!!! That right there should be the #1 marketing point in selling Poly points. I hope you at least had your feet in the pool at the same time?
