As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Might want to post something in the tech section regarding the FPs and hope someone can help you and rectify it. Plans look good and some nice PP meets!
Thanks, Dave!!

Hmmm, I wonder why it won't let you book a FP for the day?
Thanks, Donna! I am going to call today and find out the answer to that!

Annoying about your FP block, though. I’d call and try talking to someone.
Right back at ya about the meet up, Colleen!! I plan to call today and find out what is up with the FP!

Grrrrrr!!!! I just spent the better part of an hour on the phone with first guest services, then passholder services, then the tech people at WDW!!
I explained our stay and my FP+ dilemma. The first lady was very nice and went out of her way to help me but just couldn’t. The second lady was curt to the point of being rude. The last lady was kind but very technical.
My call started out to the regular number for WDW. I was actually connected in a timely manner and explained to the lady that I was able to make FP+s for my resort stay without issue but that I was also an AP holder and would be staying outside of the park for the first two days of my visit and could make FP+s for Katie and Megan but when I tried to make mine, the message said that I had exceeded my FP+ limit.
I told her that I also tried to get a FP+ during the next 30 days and the same message came up. She understood the issue and put me on hold only to come back and tell me that the system forced a 30 day blockout between stays.
So, I then told her that I felt as though I was being punished for not staying in the park for the first two days because if only I were, I would have been able to make my FP+ reservations for the entire length of stay. She did not disagree and offered to send me to Passholder services.
That lady was just plain rude. She didn’t even let me finish my story when she blurted out, “Well, if there are no more FP+ slots then we can’t create them.” I was very frustrated at this point but patiently explained that was not the message I was getting. Without apology, she then said that she would transfer me to the technical support department but that she doubted there was a way around my problem.
I was on hold for literally 30 minutes and I swear I thought she just put me on hold and never transferred me at all when finally the third lady picked up. I, once again, explained my situation and this person took all of info and then said that the only thing I could do was cancel my FP+s for the last two days of my trip.
She looked at my reservation and told me that she felt I would be able to pick them right back up again after the first two days. So that is what I did. . I left Muffin, Dave and Adrienne on the FP+ reservations and now can only hope that I will be able to join them.
When I asked her why this was, she said that if they didn’t have this policy that AP holders would take all of the good FP+s available and just release them as needed. I didn’t even understand how this would be possible, let alone attempt to think of doing something like this! What is wrong with people?!?!?
Sorry if this rant makes no sense, but I am really super upset about the whole issue!

There are unfortunately, restrictions with having an AP. It does sound very unfair, but I think Disney is trying to ensure it's fair for everyone (with a slight nod toward those staying on property ) My understanding is that AP holders have 2 options - book up to 7 days worth of fast passes (if not staying on property) or book the number of days for an extended stay (staying on property). So in other words, your AP is allowing you the max number of days that you are staying on Disney property. Hopefully you'll be able to make up your fast passes for later in your trip.
On a happier note, I am looking forward to this trip that you have planned and can't wait to find out how it all turns out.
I'm really getting excited about meeting up with you all and Colleen. Good grief what a mess with the FastPasses.
As are we!!. I am actually much better now. I will not let it mess up the trip!

I've been down that road with the whole AP fastpass rule and it's stressful and frustrating. Being DVC members, I did write Disney and explained that we've invested a lot of money into our vacations with them and that the whole AP rule thing was getting in the way with our planning trips in the winter when we like to get away from the cold Northeast. They actually called me to discuss my email but I'm not sure that it will make much of a difference in the whole rule thing. I figured that if enough people with Annual Passes (not Florida residents who can go everyday) write them to tell them of their displeasure, they might make a change. I hope it all works out for your trip down the line.
Sorry CM#2 was so unpleasant! Hopefully it will all work out for you. But regardless, you’ll be at WDW!
This is true!!

I am so glad you wrote this post. I thought maybe I was being a big baby, but I feel the same. We are loyal patrons who spend tons of money with the Mouse. I sent an email to guest relations yesterday. I’m sure it will all be fine in the end and I know I will get to do everything I want to, but I am a righteous girl!

So after all of the FP+ drama, this is what we wound up with for November 5th:
Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin- 9:30-10:30
Jungle Cruise-10:40-11:40
Meet Mickey Mouse at Town Square-12:10-1:10
DAY 4. NOVEMBER 6th
Today, Megan and I are planning to spend the day at Epcot. Again, Meg has not been here since she was 12! That’s 21 years ago!!!! I can’t wait to see what she thinks of Epcot today.
I will be honest. I loved Epcot when it was E.P.C.O.T. so much more!! I miss Horizons and Kitchen Kabaret!!!!! A lot!! I still love World Showcase and I do love Soarin’, especially the new version, but I wax nostalgic about the old attractions and I so wish they had put in a Carsland like at Disneyland. Anyway!
We have FP+s for:
Soarin’ - 9:45-10:45
Turtle Talk with Crush - 11:00-12:00
Disney Pixar Short Film Festival- 12:05-1:05
We are going to spend the morning in Future World and then head over to World Showcase. We are going to try and hit up a few booths at the F&WF for lunch. We are looking at the booths now to try and decide beforehand where we want to go.
Then we have dinner scheduled at 5:10 PM at Via Napoli with the 8 PM Eat to the Beat show.
This will be another new venue for me to eat at and I am very excited!! The pizza looks delicious!! We should have some time after dinner to roam around World Showcase a bit more before going to the concert. Tonight’s band is Boyz to Men and we can’t wait to see them!! We are both huge fans!!
After the show, we are planning to stay for Illuminations and then head back to Springhill Suites. I am so hoping that this will be a nice taste of WDW for Megan!
