Taggin' Along Compliments of Disney! - Page 54 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Just got caught up with your last few updates. I can relate to your experience with Hope crying whenever the characters came around her at the breakfast. We took my older daughter to her first character breakfast at Chef Mickeys when she was three not realizing how afraid she was of characters. Whenever one of them would come around to our table she would scream and cry and then climb under the table to get away from them. It was disappointing for my DH and I because we really wanted to see her interact with the characters but I also understood how large those characters must have seemed to her! I'm sure Hope will enjoy them more on your next trip since she will be older and more used to the experience. We were at WDW the last week of September too and the lovebugs were horrible along with the humidity!!!
Thanks for the update! Hope is just so adorable! I'm crossing my fingers for a granddaughter in February! Gee, I think I may have mentioned that in a reply before! Can you tell I'm excited!
I hope you get a granddaughter! I wanted a little girl so badly, and in my gut I knew that's what she was, but people kept telling me I was having a boy...so I hope it's what you think it is.

I would hope so, but the looks that I was getting was telling me something different.

You're so funny. Your list is going to get bigger and bigger by the second. You'll be walking around Disney with a huge binder of stuff to do!

I am willing to put up with it for Disney though! Can't wait to read more.
I've never tried the school bread but I've heard that it's really good. Maybe next time I'll have the cake and school bread.

Hey it happens - sorry you felt embarrassed. Every parent has been there and the people on the boat I'm sure all realized it wasn't your falut.
I love chunky little babies too. I just think it makes them even more lovable. It wasn't like I was trying to make her cry, I just think she didn't want to be in that boat any longer and she couldn't get out.

What great updates! OnDylans first trip ( he was 1) he acted the same as hope. On the next trip at 20 months he was ok if you were holding him and then on his last trip at just over 2 he LOVED the charCters - ran right up to them.
And if you get club level at akl you'll never turn back!
It definitely does, then add all the holiday stuff going on and you're in big trouble. I loved your pictures on FB, and on a side note, my brother just won a trip to Punta Cana through his company.

I agree with Holly...I LOVE Hope's chunky legs in the sleeping picture. And chocolate mousse cake for lunch is sheer brilliance!!
I wish I could remember the name of the little place that had the velcro frogs, but it was in Innoventions West and it was to the back of the building right across from the Piggy Bank Adventure. Yes, they looked at me...with evil little eyes. I wanted to dive off the boat and swim for safety!

I really wanted Hope to love the characters too, so maybe next time will be better. You're right though...those big characters must look scary when you're so small. And yes, those love bugs were terrible too! I completely forgot about them.

Walking through WS when it's empty is so nice. That's one of the best things about staying right there.
How exciting for your brother! I think he'll have a great time. I did start a TR for our trip there - you haven't missed anything yet and will probably see the same pics you've already seen but with a little more explanation.

Thanks for the heads up! I'm heading over there right now.
Sounds like a great morning in WS. Sorry about the meltdown on LWTL. I can't believe people were giving you looks. It's not like you could get up and leave! What did they expect you to do?

Trust me, if I could have left I would have, but short of jumping in the water and swimming there was nothing I could do. People...what are you gonna do?

Either that or she wanted to abandon ship. Chocolate cake always makes everything better!
There aren’t that many pictures left from the day, and you’ll see why later.
When we arrived in Norway I had planned on getting something nutritious for Hope to have for lunch, but there really wasn’t anything there that I thought she would enjoy, so I decided to allow her to have chocolate for lunch as well. I know, I’m a horrible mom, but we were on vacation, and when you’re on vacation the rules really don’t apply right? So I order her worms and dirt (chocolate pudding with cookie crumble on top and gummy worms), but I threw the worms out…she wouldn’t have been able to chew them.
Right as we were sitting down to eat I got a call from Dawn and they said they were headed our way because they were too. I couldn’t wait to eat my cake so we just decided to dig in and we would wait for them to eat their food when we were done. What can I say? A delicious piece of chocolate mousse cake with an ice cold glass of milk…pure heaven!
And Hope really enjoyed hers too!
Soon Dawn and her family arrived and we sat and chatted while we all enjoyed our snacks/lunch. They were up for anything since they had already had an Epcot day and they didn’t get to see that much of WS. They said they wanted me to take them around and show them some stuff that they hadn’t seen so I said I was planning on heading on over to watch the BI in the United Kingdom. They were game, so we made our way on over there and figured we would just make the loop around WS in that direction. Dawn is a huge Elvis Presley fan, and we always joke around that if you like Elvis you don’t like the Beatles, and vice versa, so I was interested to hear her take on the performance.
It was crowded when we got there, but we snagged a bench off to the side and made it just in time to see them come out.
The girls had so much fun dancing and clapping with Hope even though they didn’t know any of the songs. I was told that they know all of Elvis’ songs, so because of that I’m working on teaching Hope the words to “Hey Jude”. She’s got the Na Na Na Na part down really good!
When the show was over we checked out a couple of stores and then headed towards France. This was where I really wanted a Grand Marnier slushie, so all of ordered one and OMG! It was sooooo good! I honestly could have had another one right then and there but it was hot and I wanted to be able to still walk around the WS.
We kept right on walking and by now it was getting really hot. Dawn told me that the girls had wanted to go swimming one more time before they had to go home tomorrow, so they were going to head back to their hotel. We walked them all the way to Mexico, and then said our good-byes. Once they left we went inside to have a look around and take some pictures.
We even did the boat ride, which Hope really enjoyed, and then it was back outside in the heat. We were sweating! I mean dripping sweat…that’s how hot it was. We started talking about how we wished we were going to be there longer because we would just leave and go enjoy SAB a little bit more, but today was our last day and we wanted to enjoy Epcot as much as we could especially at night when that’s my favorite time to walk around WS. So we kept on walking and kept on sweating, stopping in the stores along the way for relief. Here’s a photo outside of the Christmas store in Germany.
We made our way towards Italy to see if we could get a table outside at Tutto Italia for dinner since you don’t need an ADR, but apparently they weren’t doing that anymore. We weren’t sure where to eat, so we thought about Via Napoli, but they didn’t have any availability, and so we kept on walking.
Stopping for a few more photos.
Don't ask me why the woman taking this photo didn't realize you couldn't see my mom's face...or the Epcot ball!
By now we were back at France, and we thought about eating at Chefs de France, but I didn’t see anything on the menu that appealed to me at that moment, so we passed. We noticed that Sleeping Beauty was out, and I thought that Hope might be okay with her since her face wasn’t covered, so we waited in line to see her. She did great.
Then I got a couple shots of the topiarys.
We noticed that Belle and the Beast were out too, but I thought the Beast would be way too much for her so we passed. As we made our way back into the United Kingdom we saw Mary Poppins and got in line to see her. We were almost to her when one of her penguins decided to show up and I realized that Hope wouldn’t like that too much. When it was our turn, mom walked up to Mary and told her that even though the penguin seemed like a very nice penguin, Hope was getting a little scared of him and wondered if they could just have their picture taken with her. The penguin got all sad and went and stood in the corner, but we got our picture and apologized once more to him.
By now we were roasting and we decided that we were just going to suck it up and head to the pool. It was a hard decision to make, especially since this was our last day, but it was soooo hot, and we just wanted some relief. So we left Epcot and went back to our room to change into our bathing suits. Before we went swimming we decided to grab dinner first, so once again we ate at Hurricane Hannah’s, and once again I got a hot dog. Mom ordered the chicken caesar salad, but she said it wasn’t very good.
It started to get dark as we were eating and then the temperature started to get comfortable again, now here’s the funny part to this entire day. We found a spot by the pool, and by now I’m not sure if I really want to get wet. I go over and put my foot in the pool, and for some reason it feels really cold to me this time, and I get a couple of chills. My mom and I look at each other and realize that we don’t want to go swimming now. So we’re sitting on the lounge chairs trying to figure out what to do. My mom suggests we just call it a night, go take a couple of hot baths and get in our pjs. My response to that is Heck no…no way am I going to spend my last night at Disney in the hotel. I suggest we go up, get dressed and walk on over to The Boardwalk, and that is agreed upon.
We go back up to the room, and by the time we’re done and back outside it’s almost 8:30, and I really want to see WS lit up at night. The park is only open until 9pm, so I make the decision to go back to the park for one last look. This is the major plus to staying at the BCV…you can walk on over to Epcot on a whim.
Once inside, there was no room to sit to see Illuminations, so we just walked around WS for a bit, and then decided to head over to Mouse Gears to do some last minute shopping. By now, Hope was fast asleep in her stroller (I had dressed her in her pajamas), and we were listening to the fireworks go off while we were in the store. We couldn’t leave until they were finished anyway because I didn’t want Hope to wake up. I did make one purchase for myself…a new set of coasters.
And my mom bought my niece a pretty pair of Mickey stud earrings (the were very small since she was only 5 months old at the time). Once we were done we headed back towards IG to go back to the hotel. It’s so weird walking in the opposite direction, you feel like a salmon swimming up stream. It was so nice to not have to be following the masses of people headed towards the buses.
On our way out we noticed a woman bent over holding her eye, and her husband standing next to her with a look of confusion and concern on his face, so we walked over to see if they needed any help. Apparently during Illuminations, a bit of firework ash blew into her eye, and it was burning. I stayed with them while my mom ran off to get a CM to help her. Once the CM came over we left, but they were so grateful that someone stopped to help them because they didn’t know what to do. The husband didn’t want to leave his wife, and she was in too much pain to walk with him, so I guess they would have just stood there until someone like us came over to see what the problem was.
After that it was a pretty uneventful night. We noticed the movie playing on the beach, along with a nice little bonfire where they were roasting smores. They do this every night, but the movie schedule is the only thing that changes. This is just another reason why I would have liked to stay at this resort a little bit longer. There’s a lot to see and do there, and we didn’t have enough time to enjoy all of it. I was so sad to be going home the next day, it just wasn’t a long enough trip, and if I would have known what I would have been coming home to with my Nanny and all, I wouldn’t have come home at all. But we had to go home, and that’s what we would be doing tomorrow…I just had to get one last photo that day.
Up Next: They just called our name over the loud speaker!

Sorry the day was so hot that it made it difficult to enjoy Epcot. Love all the pictures from around the WS! And the last picture of the beach chairs at BC has made me a bit homesick today!
The last day is always so sad.
Kudos to you on helping the lady & her DH. I was once hit with part of a firework in Fantasyland and a CM tried to act like I didn't. You gotta watch out with them.
What a great last day minus the heat! It's not fun when you know the trip is coming to an end!!!! You really did have a wonderful time with Hope & your Mom! What great memories!!! I must say though, you don't eat enough!!! Cake for lunch is yummy...but I need a meal!!! The picture of the beach at night looks amazing!
Great update!
Hope is SO cute! Your pictures are great!
My kids (and I) really enjoyed the piggy bank game and the velcro frogs....
Too bad Hope wasn't loving the boat and you had to miss Captain EO.....
I wanted to comment before I read further; I've gotten behind.... off to catch up.....
All caught up! The heat can really put a damper on things, that's for sure......
Sounds like you had a great last day, all the same.........
Looking forward to more....
