Halloween, Hawaii and holiday celebrations - THIS SECTION COMPLETED 12/27 - Page 54 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Love your "ears", Jasmine picked those out this year, she said she likes the more "sophisticated" ears....LOL
Great minds think alike, as I liked them for their sophistication too!

What a great meal at BOG, we really loved both lunch and dinner there. We actually had dinner in the Rose Gallery when we were there, it was very empty as they only had three families in there (all large groups) but I really loved the art work and the music box....it was nice and quiet but that could have been because there were so few people in the room.
Oh wow - now I'm seriously jealous!

The grey stuff did not look to appealing when they brought it to our table for birthdays, it tasted ok....nothing special however when we went for lunch in October they actually added it as the icing for a new cupcake they were offering (I think it was called the Master's Cupcake, it was a chocolate cupcake but with the grey stuff as icing...it was pretty good).
What an empty DTD - it looked like a lot of rain but crowd less shopping is always good. Looks like a great lunch at the Crystal Palace, glad you were able to get lots of love from your Donkey Boy and that mark got to get a lot of ribbing in on Piglet.
That's kind of a standard meal at the Crystal Palace for us that you've just described there!
Saturday 2 November – part three: the main ladies are looking good!
We made our way into Fantasyland. We looked at the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, but it had a 25 minute wait, so instead we wandered into Storybook Circus. It’s so good to see that the path between this and the rest of the Fantasyland extension is now open, as that makes a huge difference to getting around this area.
I couldn’t believe this, but Dumbo was only showing a 10 minute wait. Wow, I don’t remember the last time it’s shown that short a wait at this time of the day.
We got some more photos of the construction of the Seven Dwarves Mine Coaster…
We headed around to see what the wait was to see the characters, and as Minnie and Daisy were showing only a 15 minute wait, we got in line for them, as I love their costumes. I loved the set-up in there.
And both the main ladies were looking good!
It was funny to come out into the shop at the end, as this did bear a remarkable resemblance to the previous one in Mickey’s Toontown. It had some amazing culinary offerings in it.
There was a Cast Member making them as well, and she was a great character – and had a great name too… Cheryl!
We headed out and towards the other side of the Fantasyland expansion – I have to be honest, I don’t know what its proper name is. Does it have one? It was interesting to see that some of the area around the Seven Dwarves Mine Coaster have already been themed…
It was also interesting to see that already Under the Sea is losing its appeal, it was only showing a 30 minute wait, a big change from the last time we were here.
We wandered through the shop here, and again there was a huge difference here. Last year, you couldn’t move it here. Today it was pretty much deserted.
On our last visit, we never went inside Gaston’s Tavern, so I wanted to put that right this visit, and I’m glad we did, as the theming in here is superb.
Next: : a very interactive Enchanted Tale with Belle!
I'm glad to hear the walkways in the new areas are making more sense now than they did at the "grand opening"! I think they call the area with the mine train, Ariel and Gaston's tavern the "Enchanted Village"?? Or did I dream this up?

I never made it in Big Top Souvenirs. It is a goal for my coming trip. We loved Gaston's Tavern. It is interesting to see more and more how that area is coming together.
Finally all caught up after being away for the week (work has been exhausting) -great pics from the MNSSHP! I can't even imagine the look of the CM when Mark announced his hate for Piglet! we do enjoy the food at CP, but it does take forever for all the characters to make their way around
Did you have a cinnamon bun in Gastons tavern??? YUM!

I guess the rain scared away more people from riding Dumbo. Actually, now that it has 2 spinners, I think the waits are considerably lower than ever. I have yet to venture into the new character tent back there! I'll do that next time.

Oh gosh - we were far too stuffed from lunch and we had an early dinner at the California Grill this day...
I love the path between New Fantasyland and Storybook Circus, it definitely makes it much easier to get back and forth. Even in August when we were there the wait times for UTS were not as bad as I thought they would be. We never saw a wait time longer than 30 minutes, and when we usually rode it showed a 20 minute wait but it never seemed that long.
It reminds me a lot of Nemo and Friends, I think that with a lot of the newer rides they had the room to really create longer, themed queues (versus some of the older rides like PPF or IASW where you just stand in a wrap along line). Plus these rides are constantly moving so people are always loading which makes the line move quicker so once the initial "new ride" crowd dies down you end up with a huge queue that seldom gets used, making it look as if the ride never really has a long wait....at least that was my thought as I never saw a line for UTS - yet we know people ride it just as they ride Nemo, but not going to complain as those rides usually are a short wait before riding, always nice in comparison to some of the other rides where even on the lowest of crowd days always seem like a longer wait.

Wow, that has quietened off quickly. Mind you, the same thing happened with it in Disneyland as well....

I'm always fascinated by which new rides sustain waits and which don't. Toy Story Midway Mania is the really interesting one to me, especially as the waits aren't nearly as long for it in Disneyland...

Great pictures from Fantasyland. I don't know if there is a proper name or they just call it New Fantasyland. Either way, it was nice that you were able to have a good look around without a lot of other guests. I really love the theme of Gaston's. It is straight out of the movie!

I don't know about Disney, but I know all of us call it New Fantasyland!

Some great photos of Fantasyland. It seems to be really coming together! Great photos within the shops as well! Interesting perspective on the ride queues and why the wait times are not that long! Possible good planning on Disney's part. Just wish they could alleviate some of the wait times at other extremely popular attractions throughout the parks!
Can't wait to see the new Fantasyland! I'll definitely be there on my arrival day in late March in a few months!
