A Spring Adventure: Wilderness, Flowers, and the Force (with Cam and Luke) PTR Updated 5/22 - Page 53 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Great WL trivia. I love the bear looking at you. The lights look like eyes. It's amazing! Gotta love Disney!
Love the Disney mail and the added bling!
I can't wait to see Captain America. Glad it was good!

Yay... love the magic bands, especially the extra bling! I was so excited when ours arrived for our last trip. Just another reason to anticipate the upcoming vacation! Sorry to hear about your scare. The whole My Disney Experience gave me a few panic attacks, but it all worked out in the end. Your trip is getting closer!!!

I agree that the lights looks like eyes. I'd go see Captain America in a heartbeat.

We used to always go in June, so it's exciting to try another time of year. I plan on taking loads of pictures.

With everything on the computer now, it just scares me if I can't get to it all.
Glad you got everything figured out with the website!
Me, too! I don't how many times a day I've been logging in recently as we are getting closer to the trip.

Luke did read on the Dis boards today that someone else had had this happen yesterday. So we weren't alone.

This will be our first time using the magic bands, the Memory Maker, etc. so I'm a wee bit anxious, but I'm also very excited.
Over the years, I have carried a wide variety of bags to the parks. Our first three trips I carried my usual purse. Then after I joined the PassPorter boards in May 2004, I noticed quite a few discussions on what bags were best for carrying in the parks. There were even conversations about what to carry in that bag to the parks each day. On our June 2004 trip, I had purchased a Mickey backpack that worked fairly well for that trip and the 2005 trip. But the more I read the threads here about the Baggallini crossbody bag, I knew I wanted one. So for 2006, I ordered an orange one that made a couple of trips to WDW. Ultimately, the bag was uncomfortable as the metal slider bars to adjust the strap rested right on my shoulder bone. The next bag was a cute, small, and comfortable Kilimanjaro Safaris backpack at AK. I loved that bag until 2 days later the zipper broke. We took it back, and got an exchange. It also worked for 2 days before the zipper broke. When I returned it that time, I told them I was sorr,y but I didn’t have time left in my trip to check out defective backpacks for them and would need a refund. I came home so disappointed. I would have to wait two years before Disney produced another small KS backpack with a functional zipper, padded shoulder straps, and back padding. This backpack has been my pal for quite a few trips now.
This past October though I thought I was ready to change to one of the crossbody Disney Vera Bradley bags. But when I saw how small it was, I knew it just wouldn’t work for me. When we got back home, I began checking the Vera Bradley site for a Vera Bradley Mailbag that I had seen in a shop in Glasgow when I was visiting family. A week or so later I got an e-mail from verabradley.com with a code for $20 and free shipping on my first order. I immediately went to the site and located the bag again, which was also on sale. I chose the Baroque pattern, which arrived about a week later. It the mailbag has a flap with two pockets and then a zippered section with a cubby for a cell phone.

Zippered pocket
Sometime this winter Vera Bradley had an incredible sale (50% off one item with an additional 50% off a second item) on small accessories. I got both a wallet and coin purse in the Baroque pattern. The coin purse I’m planning on using for all our Disney gift cards.
Also during the winter, Luke got an e-mail about a small battery charger that would work with my iPhone. He figures that using my phone for MDE and Facebook will call for extra power. So he got me the cutest little lime green charger by LePow and a second charging cord, so I could have these handy in my bag.
I haven’t carried the bag at all yet as I keep rotating my collection of D&B and Harvey Disney bags. Later this week I plan to switch over to it, so I can be used to it before the trip. Who knows, I may even pack my faithful KS backpack for just in case.
Love that bag. I carried a smaller Baroque cross body bag in October. My mom is going to the Vera Outlet sale this Friday. She's already gotten an order from the short one at my house. I need to look on the website to see what I might want her to look for!
Love all of your plans for this trip. Can't wait to read all about it. I've looked at the Smashbooks too but hadn't shifted to a blank journal with Disney washi tape. May have to add my name to the list of those borrowing that idea.
I don't know much about the WL but now I know a little more!
Love the bling for the magic bands! I believe for October you can link your current bands to your reservation - so hopefully you won't get another set. We got 2 for our stay last year and online we can deactivate one set.
Love the Vera! I got a puffy crossbody for Christmas that I'm saving for Disney.
I have 3 Vera mailbags that I rotate. the mailbag is great as a park bag and I use one everyday. My Ipad mini fits in it perfectly. Mine are Paisley meets Plaid, Summer Cottage and Doodle Daisy(that was my first one)
