Fall, Firsts, Food And The Final Frontier TR - UPDATED 11/11 - COMPLETE!! - Page 51 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Good to know. I'll keep checking, although the fact when you go to the page with the details of the Star Wars dessert party and you can't book anything at all doesn't inspire that much hope.
That may be true unfortunately. I wish I had an answer.

Update - after weeks of the page on the Disney World website showing incorrectly, suddenly it was there last night, and I was able to book for our trip!

Friday, October 21st (Part IV) Well, the dessert party was now over and at 7:45 pm some CMs came around and told us to go upstairs and assemble in line to go outside for the Star Wars Galactic Spectacular Fireworks show. Even better is that we would be led out by a couple of Stormtroopers! Now this is certainly making a grand entrance!
It took a few minutes to get to the viewing location near the Chinese Theatre as Star Wars Launch Bay is located near Pixar. We arrived at our viewing location and it certainly looked like a great spot. I was near the front of the line as I wanted a great spot for photos. Once we arrived, there was a table set up and complimentary Chewbacca tankards were for us to have. I love these as they look so cool!
Chewie!
My lanyard with credentials
Our location and looks like a great vantage point!
We waited for some time before for the show to start as it’s scheduled to begin at 8 pm. For some reason, it was delayed a bit and didn’t commence until 8:05 pm. There are quite a few photos from the show, so I won’t comment that much as they will be self-explanatory. The show was a combination of fireworks, video and light show with lasers and different than what I expected. So here you go!
Yoda makes his appearance!
Love these aerials!
Another great one!
An amazing aerial with the show winding down!
What a great show this was with so much that went into it with the fireworks, pyrotechnics, lights, lasers and visuals. I enjoyed this so much and a definite winner! It was longer than I expected at a good fifteen minutes or a bit more. It was closing on 8:25 pm, when the show concluded and it began around 8:05 or a bit after.
It was quite crowded in this area and I made my way over to the Echo Lake area and wait it out for a bit, while the crowds filed out of the area and the park. After waiting for several minutes, I exited Hollywood Studios and walked to the bus depot and wait for my bus back to Disney Springs. On many occasions, there were not a lot of people waiting for our bus, but tonight there was with the fireworks show. The bus arrived at 8:40 pm, which was a rather short wait and I was back to the B Resort after stops at the Hilton and Holiday Inn.
I returned to my room and got ready for my trip home tomorrow, which is always a sad occasion! I did some packing and organizing many things as well as setting things aside I would need when I go to Epcot in the morning.
After this was done, I went downstairs to the American Kitchen bar for a nightcap around 10:30 pm. It was fairly crowded and not surprising for a Friday night. I was able, to get a seat at the bar, which was good. I decided on something different tonight as one drink grabbed my attention. I went with the passionfruit margarita with Cajun spice. It was a bit spicy but not overly and I enjoyed this quite so.
Doesn’t this look good?
After a little time at the bar and watching some sports programming at the bar I returned to my room around 11:30 pm. I got my phone out and did online check in on the Jet Blue app for my flight home tomorrow. It was rather easy, worked well and didn’t take much time. I watched some programs on my TV for a while and then went to bed.
NEXT: Is It Christmas Day as This Is Just Insane and Beyond Belief?

Glad you enjoyed them as there were quite a few of them! I hope it wasn't too redundant with so many ! It was a great end to such a great last full day at WDW and so sad to see the trip come to an end! Just love coming down to Disney as this is trip #12 to the "Happy Place." Not cheap in any way but just love it and it will never end for me!
I'm already thinking about October 2018 as I just got back from my October, 2017 trip and my 2016 TR is not completed yet, but just a few more updates as my flight home is next.
I'd love to go to WDW for the Christmas season but nearly impossible with work unfortunately.! Hope to do it one day. I'm in retail and a supermarket and not a chain. The only week that is possible is the week after T-Day. How are the crowds that week, if you happen to know or anyone else here who may read this?

The only time we've been to disney during the Christmas season, was the week after thanksgiving. It was the last few days in november and the first few in December. That is a good time to go, as far as crowds go. Hope you eventually get to go for Christmas some time!
Dave, one of the best weeks to go is the week after Thanksgiving. That’s the week we’ve been for 4 trips, and it’s just a wonderful time. Crowds are usually low, weather is usually great, etc. I think the “your first trip” website marks the week after Thanksgiving as the #1 to go. Also, everything is decorated for Christmas so you get to see that. Oh, and historically it’s been included in free dining, which is huge for my family. Now, keep in mind I don’t have another season or time period to compare it to, but we think that week is just wonderful.
