As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears

Moving on with the current of the years.

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). I'll admit that I was teary eyed when reading about you and Hope during the fireworks. What a special moment to share with your daughter. Sorry about the bus ride and the long wait for your milkshake, but otherwise its sounds like you had a great night.

We loved MEP and Wishes looked different to us. Was it? I loved it and can totally agree with the whole holding your baby while watching Wishes. Gets me everytime.

Hope you got your milkshake. I did feel bad for the dancer, I could only imagine what was going through her mind at that moment, but it was also funny too. Too bad I didn't have a video camera! Haha!

I'm sure I'll still feel the same way when she's all grown up, but it was such a magical moment for me. About your mom and the scooter...people have to realize that she'd probably rather not be in that situation, and just learn to be patient. I understand they're tired, but I always try to put myself in the other person's shoes, just like when you see a crying baby on a plane...yes, it's annoying, but you don't know what's going on. Thanks for liking my photos...even though I thought they were horrible. The camera is nice, but it's very complicated, at least to me it is.

That memory of you and Hope watching the fireworks together is sooo sweet! That is Disney magic at its best!! I can so relate. On our first trip after Spectro Abby, who was 4 at the time, looked at me and in the sweetest voice said "Mommy...." and just gave me the biggest hug in the world. Priceless. That's why we Disney geeks always go back!!

I don't know how some parents pick up some of those strollers!!! They just keep getting bigger and bigger. I totally agree that those moments are what keep us coming back for more. I should use that when people ask me why I always go to Disney World...that might shut them up for a second or two. What a nice moment with you and your daughter...I hope mine feels the same way when she gets older.

That was one of my favorite moments of the trip, and I can't wait to have more when we go.
I feel like I'm so far behind with the Thanksgiving holiday and work, but I promise to get an update out before the end of the week. It would have been sooner, but I just realized I only resized the pictures up until the Epcot day, so now I have to do that before I can post the next installment.

I hadn’t planned on getting up really early this morning because we weren’t going far for breakfast…or at least we hoped that’s where we were going for breakfast. But Hope had other plans and was looking at me again at 6:15am…so much for sleeping in a bit. We got going on our morning rituals and were out the door by 7:40am. I wasn’t sure how lucky we were going to get with snagging a table at Cape May Café, but I was going to try my hardest.
I walked up to the podium, and while it didn’t look that crowded, there were definitely a lot of strollers parked outside, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. I asked the CM if there was any chance she had availability for breakfast this morning. She asked for how many, so I told her, and she looked at me with a big smile and said “no problem”. I told her that I had been trying to snag an ADR for the longest time and she said that they always keep some open for walk ups, but the earlier you get there the better, and it wasn’t even 8am when we were there.
She told me it would be about fifteen minutes, so while I waited I walked around and took some pictures of the lobby and surrounding areas.
Before it had even been 5 minutes our little pager was going off and we were getting the tour of the buffet offerings. I was sooooo excited because everything looked delicious, and my last character breakfast left a lot to be desired, so I couldn’t wait to see how this one was going to pan out. We were seated on the side by the walkway that leads to the Yacht Club and we had another fabulous waitress…Dorothy…just like my mom, so they had something in common.
Minnie, Donald and Goofy were nowhere in sight so we took turns going to the buffet to get our first plate.

While we were eating we spotted Goofy making his way towards us, and Hope kept pointing and smiling, so I was really excited to see how she was going to do when he got closer. I decided to take her out of her seat since the last time the characters just kind of walked by when she was by herself. I’m so glad I did, because as soon as Goofy came around she started freaking out! Making all of these little noises and whining…she did not want him around at all. He was really good about it though and he hung around long enough for us to get a couple of photos.
Mom cut his head off!
You can tell Hope is trying to get the heck out of Dodge!
Next up was Minnie, and the poor thing never had a chance. As soon as Hope saw her she began crying and whining again. Minnie waved and I gave her a look of “I’m so sorry”, so she kind of kept her distance and waved from afar, but who could blame her? She didn’t want to upset Hope anymore than she already was.
We didn’t see Donald yet, so I put Hope back in her chair so she could continue eating her breakfast. As soon as she started eating she was content again, and all was good in the world again.
So we’re sitting they’re eating and talking and I see Donald making his way to our area, and all of a sudden I hear “Donald” come from this little voice next to me, and I just look at my mom and then I look at Hope and I ask, “Did you just say Donald?” And then she points at him and says it again. She never said that before and I wasn’t even sure if she knew who he was yet, but apparently she knew more than I gave her credit for. So now I’m thinking this is going to be okay, and I decided to leave her in her chair, and the whole time she’s still saying his name and pointing…until he comes around the corner. She looks right at him and freaks out again. I begin telling Donald that she just said his name and it’s nothing personal, but I still felt bad for him.
When he came closer she really started to freak out, and even our waitress had that look of, “Oh no, she’s going to blow!”
Donald walked over to my mom, and while my mom looks a little drunk here, she’s patting Donald and saying, “Awwww Donald…it’s okay.” But Hope just wanted him away from our table.
So much for a good character experience, but this time it had nothing to do with them, and everything to do with her. Just so you can see how awesome the characters were…at least to those who wanted them around…here’s Goofy at the table across from us sitting down to breakfast with them.
Mom and I each got another plate full of food…mine complete with grits…yummy, and then we were ready to head to Epcot. Everything about this meal was fantastic, and for the price it’s a hidden gem. I will be going back here next time, and I’m hoping there won’t be any tears.
On our way to Epcot a got a few more pictures of SAB before anyone else started using it.
I can’t begin to say how wonderful it is to just be able to walk right over to Epcot, and that is why I’m torn on where to stay next year…AKL Club Level or BCV…I only have 16 more days to make up my mind so I better act fast.
It looked like it was going to be another beautiful day with hardly any crowds. The only mistake I made was saying how comfortable it felt outside, because those words would come back to bite me in the butt…hard!
Awww... too bad the character meetings aren't going well. The pictures of her crying will be funny to show to Hope when she's old enough to see a character and race for them. She won't believe she was any other way!
The photos of Cape May are so pretty. Personally, I would love to walk on over to Epcot from my resort so that gets my pick.

Sorry Hope wasn't having fun! My daughter would have acted the very same at that age. She would have NOTHING to do with Santa for years!! I am glad you loved your meal! I don't know which resort I would pick either both are sooooo beautiful!! Which do you think your DH & Hope will enjoy the most? Maybe write all the things you love & if there are any drawbacks make your choice from there. It's Disney so no matter what you know you'll have a marvelous time!! I already want to go back!! I pray it will be sooner than later!! As of right now I plan on going in Nov of 2012. Great update & beutiful pictures!!
Sorry Hope didn't have much fun at Cape May...but I'm glad you were able to have fun, and that the characters didn't behave like they did at Chef Mickey's!
As far as the AKL vs. BCV debate goes, I'm all for trying new resorts, so I would say AKL if you havn't stayed there first, but if you've stayed at both then I'd go for BCV again just because of its better location, pool, and choices of restaurants.
