10 Nights of Magic in The Orlando Trifecta-TR - COMPLETE!! 12/10 - Page 50 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I agree with you about haunted mansion. I alway feel like we’re going to get separated. It’s funny that you mentioned because I’m sure everyone thinks the same but it’s quickly forgotten once the ride is over.
Great time and glad I ran into these two new experiences (Muppets and Dapper Dans) and can't believe by law of averages, I just didn't run into them. But, so glad I did and craziest thing that they were just a few minutes apart.
I think you'll enjoy the room tour and hope there is a lot to take in!

Yes that is a good point about HM once you're seated and ride is over! But, it's a big nuisance for a few minutes once you exit the stretching room and thrown within the masses in a very cramped environment, that is moving very sluggish at times until the last moments when you go on the moving ramp to your buggy. This is one thing that needs improvement in WDW. I'm quite easy going and I'm sure this bothers many much more and especially those with mobility and other issues. Something for WDW to alleviate this. Perhaps, separate lines in some way, which would make a difference!

What a great start to your Disney portion of the trip!! Don't feel alone, Dave. We have yet to see the Muppets in Liberty Square!! It is on the list for this time!
We also have not seen the muppets yet, hopefully next trip. I am so with you on the haunted Mansion not sure why Disney designed it that way, its so crowded.
Glad you got to see a couple of firsts in the Magic Kingdom!
I'm so with you about Peter Pan - I wouldn't wait that long and I have no idea why people do.
I was happy I got to see these shows in the MK finally! It's beyond me why people waste so much time in line, when they could be doing other things that are so much better.

Quite happy about it after so many previous visits to the MK.

It's just a matter of timing when crossing through this area and hoping to catch it. Glad I finally did!

Glad I'm not the only one as hit or miss. Not crazy about HM and how they let the mass crowds out into this area, They need to make it larger to make it better for everyone.

Great afternoon at MK! Love the pictures! Boy, it looked crowded. Can’t wait to hear all about the upgrade!
A lot of good times in the MK. It was quite crowded as expected at any WDW park on a Sunday afternoon. I'm looking forward to showing my upgrade. It's sort of two fold in a way.

Sounds like a fun time at MK! I’m with you on why people would wait that long for PP! Looking forward to seeing pictures of your room!
I had a great day in the MK. I can't understand why some people would wast their time just waiting in line for so much time. Peter Pan isn't that special either not like FOP or Soarin'. I think you'll enjoy the room photos.

Sunday, October 8th (Part VI) I managed to leave one photo out from my previous update. It was while I was waiting for a bus to the Dolphin at the Magic Kingdom depot. It’s below and a decent photo.
When I arrived at the Dolphin, I went to the check in area to get my room key. I also found out about my upgrade, which was good and was two-fold. Originally, I had a standard room with two queen beds and probably overlooking the parking area or somewhere else without much of a view. Now I had a king bedroom with a resort view, which is quite nice as you’ll see. Unfortunately, I don’t have a balcony, which would have been ideal!
Next, I went to bell services to retrieve my bags, which I had held while I was in the Magic Kingdom. Then I was on my way to the south elevators (just behind the car rental desks) to the fourth floor to see my room for the first time. I’m very close to the elevator and the second room from them, which is convenient. I mistakenly forgot to write my room number down in my notes and not the first time I’ve done that. Once I got a bit settled in the room, I got some photos.
I like this area, outside the bath. Unlike, the Royal Pacific the two bottles of water are complimentary. I get two per day.
Now, the king bedroom with resort view….
Now, the view!
One of those verandas would have been nice, but probably more than I was willing to spend!
The resort view looking across at the Swan resort. Even better is it’s a water view and get to see the Friendship boats on the river!
Over the next thirty minutes or so, I got ready for going out to dinner in Disney Springs. I also got some of my things ready for tomorrow as I’d be heading out in the a.m. I was checking the weather on TV and it didn’t look that good for tonight. Some intense thunderstorms were in the Orlando area, so I made sure to bring my rain jacket.
I went downstairs and walked over to the bus depot to wait for a bus to Disney Springs. The sky looked quite ominous and getting quite dark with the storm clouds. The wait for the bus was about fifteen minutes and during the wait, it began to rain a little. Once, the bus arrived and we began the journey to Disney Springs, it began to rain a bit more steadily.
When we arrived in the Springs and I got off the bus, it was raining in buckets and I had to make a dash for some immediate cover! As you can see below, this is the scene and where I found refuge.
As you can see, the rain was coming down in torrents, but as is typical with Florida afternoons, it usually doesn’t last long and it didn’t. I was here undercover for about 15-20 minutes. There was some thunder and lightning, but most of it was quite distant. Although, one time it was quite loud, so not so this time.
Once, the rain lightened up, I ventured out and headed into the Springs before dinner at Paddlefish. The rain was still coming down but manageable for the next few minutes, before it completely stopped.
This isn’t running tonight with the weather. I’ve never done this as the weather and/or wind have not been cooperative. I hope to one day!
Quite the sky, after the storm passed!
I walked over to Splitzville Luxury Lanes as it is quite common for me to go here before dinner and have a beverage. I enjoy the scene here as I like sitting outside at the bar, watching sporting events on the TVs and there are usually some music performers as well.
It was quite crowded at the outdoor bar as many probably returned from inside during the storm. Some of the NFL games were on the TVs and quite a few people were watching these and there was also a guy playing guitar outside. I enjoyed the entertainment.
I ordered a strawberry daiquiri/margarita combo, which was quite good. I enjoy the scene at Splitzville and a good way to begin my first evening in Disney. I like the entertainment and just love the feel to it as I’ve done this on a few previous trips. The best thing being that I’m outside.
It was a bit after 7 pm and I walked towards the old Pleasure Island area to The Landing for dinner at 7:30 pm. It will be an interesting walk as you’ll see as these photos were taken on October 8, 2017.
The bridge linking the West Side and The Landing. Formerly the bridge that crossed over to the nightlife in Pleasure Island, which I miss so much! Especially, the Adventurers Club, which was so unique!
One of the many new additions to the Disney Springs dining scene I hope to try on a future trip. I think it’s fair to say, I need two trips to Disney Springs on each trip to cross some of these off on my must do list!
You can see my hotel, the B Resort in the background from my October, 2016 trip.
Another dining establishment on my list!
And yet another!
After a bit of walking, Paddlefish was in front of me. I was looking forward to this since the reimagination of this restaurant from Fulton’s Crabhouse, which I always enjoyed on my previous experiences. I think I dined at Fulton’s four times. It was my first ever dining experience in Disney back in 2002.
NEXT: An Uneven Dining Experience Compared to Past Ones!

Your room upgrade was great, with the king bed and the great view! Oh well, no veranda, but I guess you can't have everything.
The rain was really coming down in buckets! Glad it stopped so you could get to Splitsville and then dinner. Looking forward to hearing about it...but it sounds like all was not to your liking! :
