As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

The locker dance and salespeople would be a complete turn off for me. Sorry for a less than magical day. Now I am glad we have never ventured over to the dark side. The pool time sounds relaxing and Sonic for dinner is always a treat (although we have bunches of them here and I rarely eat there ). And Spongebob would DEFINATELY have been a better choice! Charlie was watching Hillbilly Handfishing the other night and the two minutes I saw of it completely grossed me out. I asked why he was watching such nonsense and he replied "well there is nothing else on". And if you keep watching it they won't ever take it off!!

Between the squirrel, the locker dance and the saleman I am suprised you made it as long as you did. I think I would be running back to WDW begging forgiveness for even stepping over to the "dark side". But you found humor in it - made us laugh and in the end had fun anyway. Sonic did sound like the perfect end to the day (not that I have ever had Sonic but those wonderful commercials sure make me wish there was close by). Love the pajamas though and while I never made it to Sonic is jammies I have made it over to IHOP in them
Hope you wake up to a wonderful day tomorrow - the "dark side" owes you.

This just struck me funny, especially in the context of this report! Between the salesmen and the lockers I'd never have lasted as long as you did. Your pain is our gain, though.... You're a great storyteller!
I was thinking the exact same thing!

Oh my, I've seen the ads for that Handfishing show - can't say I've had the urge to watch though! My parents loved US and keep telling us that we need to go - I have no desire. Give me my Disney! Hope tomorrow is a better day for you all

I think they ran the "salesman gauntlet" on American Gladiator! (You know...the female gladiator)
I know about the wind in your face video. I have a video of me skydiving. My face looked like melted wax, but the worst part wat the old lady arm waving thing going on that I didn't realize I had!!
The interviewed the guys from Whisker Wars and Hillbilly Handfishing on PLJ in the morning a few weeks ago. I think they've officially run out of ideas for TV shows.
Ok Missy - I know you warned us about how annoyed you were at US, but that update has got to be one of the funniest EVER!! I could see the steam coming from your ears doing the locker dance, running the gaunlet, and THEN - - the vision in my head of you guys going out to Sonic in your jammies!!! I am so glad I wasn't eating or drinking while reading. DH might have had to call 911 or do a heimlick manuver or something!
I have not ever been interested in US or IoA (except maybe for HP) but now I'm so glad I've saved my money, or at least spent it at WDW instead.
Can't wait to hear more of your family's adventures.
Oh locker dance, Angry Salesman, and super crazy payment line for two .79 refills. Ouch!
If you have a small cross body bag do you have to take it off for the rides?

After having to hire someone to remove the squirrels nesting in my attic over my kitchen table, I certainly share your opinion of the yard rats.
I have never watched Hillbilly Handfishing, but I have watched Rocket City Rednecks, mainly because it was filmed here and involves some real rocket scientists, no matter how they good ol' boy things.
Good grief with all the salesmen! Is that all they do in that park? Ugh! Glad you ended on a high note at Sonic! And with some Hillbilly Handfishin! Saw a preview for another winner this morning on AP but forget the same. Looks like a redneck jumping into creeks and doing crazy stuff!
Wow...what a day! Eating lunch with a squirrel, locker dancing in the rain, moving to St Cloud...lol! Oh, and I saw that Hillbilly Handfishing one time and it totally creeped me out (and I grew up in the country). Yuck!
I have been reading all along ,but have not posted. Enjoying this TR with the family. I can't blame your Mom for giving into Isaiah. He just melts the heart. and the conversation cloud over his head about that Spiderman toy. Though Daniel looks like he might be thinking , hehe someones going to buy it. I got a laugh from you US/IOA not being like Disney and having to deal with the sales pitches. My Nephew got hooked into it when we went there for his HS graduation trip. But he was paid $15 to answer questions about some type of dorito product. while I waited for him in thier Lobby because I was too old for the survey. I agree about the lockers and lets not forget having to remember what your locker number was. I spent more time having to hunt down a team member to help me find my locker
I wish Isaiah had been tall enough for the Mummy. He would love it. I have never been to a Sonic , the nearest one to me is in the eastern part of Mass. But everytime I hear about them , it makes me think its time for a roadtrip

Well, I can definitely see why you were so highly annoyed -- stalking squirrels, pushy salespeople, and 15 minutes in line for $1.58 in refills! Swimming and Sonic in PJs sounds like the right way to end the day!
