Three Adults & a Toddler – 6/7-13/09 - UPDATED 11/20 - Page 50 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Kelly, Im glad to hear ointment helped Dylan's Heat Rash. Skyler got that way when we took him to Sesame Place b/c of how hot it was. Those aren't aren't fun at all.
He didn't seem to bothered by it, so I guess that was at elast good.

I know! It didn't seem like a lot at the time - probably because the Safari ate up a lot of that time - but it was SO worth it!

Even though we were warned that the power would be out in the lodge in the early morning hours (like 3am-ish) it still was an unpleasant experience. Did they realize it was June?!?! So needless to say I think it got quite a bit warm in the room. At some point Dylan woke up crying and wouldn’t go back to sleep. I felt bad for Becki, not so much Mike – it’s his son and I shouldn’t feel bad for that. Anyway, well you can’t go flip a light on when the power’s out. I used the light from my insulin pump to find my way around the room and finally found a glow stick and hung it on the bathroom door handle so we could kind of see. Finally got Dylan out of the pack-n-play, but he wasn’t in for being put back in. So, I went out to the lounge at 3am and laid with him on the couch. It was much cooler out there and I didn’t have to worry about keeping him quiet either. I think I was out there with him for 45 mins – 1 hour before he finally fell back asleep and I took him back to the room. I think the power started coming back on while I was out there. Needless to say – I didn’t get that much sleep that night.
Mike got up early this morning so he could get to DHS for AM EMH since it was Star Wars Weekends and he wanted to get some of it out of the way before we got there. His main thing was getting the actor that played Jango Fett autograph. Sadly, he had a family emergency and wasn’t able to attend the event. So he looked around the shops and got his SWW gear out of the way.
Once Becki, Dylan, & I arrived we met up and grabbed FPs for RnRC. Then we rode the Great Movie Ride and hit the Animation Studio – here all Dylan wanted to do was walk up and down the stairs – that is not fun right there in the entrance let me tell you. We then walked through the Backlot area. Next up was the Star Wars parade. Mike held Dylan while I videotaped (with my arm straight up in the air to get over everyone’s heads I might add) while Becki stayed back and waited in the shade.
After the parade we booked it to Sci-Fi for our noon ADR. We just this place and pretty much have to eat here every time. Dylan ‘drove’ with Mike upfront, Becki & I were behind them, and then we had some hitchhikers in the back. Mike had the Reuben with a Coke, I got a cheeseburger and a Diet Coke, Becki had the Turkey sandwich and a Diet Coke, and Dylan picked at our meals with a Cars Punch (lemonade with a light up Cars (Lightening McQueen) clip-on) all for $54.67 before tip. Dylan had had enough by this point and ended up falling asleep in my arms while we were there.
After lunch Becki & I went to ride RnRC, but as soon as we got to the area where they assign you a lane, the ride shut down and we had to leave the queue. We got FPs for another time, but knew we wouldn’t get to use them. After that we decided to go back to AKL as the heaat was really getting to us.
Mike & Dylan in their 'Like Father...', '...Like Son' shirts.
We got back to AKL at 2:45pm where I put Dylan down for a nap and then Becki & I packed some since tomorrow we would be going home.
Up next…an evening @ MK with some PPs (oh and another ‘family fight’)
I can't imagine not having air conditioning in my room in the June. No wonder poor little Dylan couldn't sleep. Sounds like a great start to your day at DHS!!
ah ha! I am caught up and LOVING this TR....so great!
Firt the sunrise safari is right up our alley. We HAVE to try to do this one day. It reminded me of Disney's Earth movie which we were in love with! But it sounds like the guide was super informative which I love and I love to ask questions about the animals. You guys got some great shots there too!
I PEW but I couldn't get eric to ride it this time for some reason....he said it was too hot to spin *L*
Poor Dylan was worn out that day but sounds like you guys got to take advantage of the pool which is wonderful. I love that pool!
I love the matching shirts at DHS the next day. so cute!
I really hope to get to Scifi again soon because I realy enjoy eating in the car there. Its the fun part along with the Bmovies playing on the screen. Too great!
So sorry about RNRC that really stinks!
Oh and the air not on in June..you'd think they would time that pour outage in december or something like that...weird!
I cannot wait for more of course!
We've been to SWW 3 or 4 times now - DH LOVES it!! Thanks!

Exactly! I don't know what they were thinking - and now I can't remember what they were doing/fixing that the power had to be shut off.

You will have to stay club level at AKL some day! Even if for just a night or 2 to take advantage of the Sunrise Safari. We currently have plans to stay club level again there in August and I'm seriously considering doing this again.
Thanks for all your great comments Crissy!
For us, Steph slept right thru it like any typical teenager. I woke up cause everything was so still like and I felt like someone was staring at me. I forgot to leave the curtains cracked and when I woke up, it was so dark and quiet I wasn't sure I was really awake. I actually said "Hello?" like that was going to magically fix things. Once I got my bearings I found my phone and used it as a flashlight. I cracked open the curtains and could see a light at the far end of the hotel and felt a little better.
I can't remember what the outage was for either.
Love your pics from Sci-Fi, my DMom is gonna love this place!
Becki is too cute/funny in her pic in front of RNRC! And love the matching shirts on Mike and Dylan!
Oh no! Not another "family fight."
See you at the PP meet at MK (in your TR of course)!
