As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: Joey and Christine\'s much needed vacation - The best night ever- Day 4 part 2 - Update 1/23
After having such a great day I didn’t think anything could top it but I was wrong. I looked on the navigator and noticed that Lilo and Stitch were going to be taking portraits in the main lobby at 5:15pm, I was so excited . My husband and I were the first people in line (that happened a lot) we were able to get a great picture with them from the professional photographers the one taken with my camera didn’t come out to good (it was too dark). I did get this picture while we waited in line:
It was pirate night so all the characters were dress as pirates. After our pictures we ran back to the room to get dressed for Palo because we had 6:00pm reservations. Palo was beautiful, so different from the rest of the ship.
Dinner was amazing, the food was great and the service was outstanding. I had the Grilled Portobello Mushrooms and Polenta and Buffalo Mozzarella (we split this) and the Filet; Joey had the Fried Calamari and Seafood Risotto; we splurged and split a bottle of Dom (which was not that overpriced) and of course we both had the soufflé:
Everything was perfect; it was as good as everyone said it would be. I can’t remember our server’s name but it was the best service we have ever received in a restaurant anywhere. Another nice thing was we didn’t finish our champagne and they were able to recork it and send it to the next night’s restaurant for us. We were there for about 2 hours; it was very relaxing no one rushed us at all. I was kind of watching the time because I knew that Pirate Stitch was going to be taking pictures in the lobby and I didn’t want to rush our dinner but if we were done I wanted to make sure I was there. Well, we had plenty of time . When we got to the lobby Pirate Goofy was still there so what they do is they have a CM in the back of the line and start another line behind that for the next character, it was a little confusing at first but once you understood the system it was easy. We were the first in line again. I was so happy but of course I can’t show you the picture because I only got the professional one taken. When we were done with Stitch we went and waited go get our family portrait taken since we were still dressed up from dinner, it came out great, I am so happy I had it taken. After pictures we went to buy two shirts for pirate night, I had the hats and had seen the shirts on my first night and just had to have them. We went back to the room to get ready for pirate night and we found a pirate monkey (so cute):
I knew exactly where I wanted to stand to watch the show and get good pictures so we needed to get there early, which we did. I got a center spot right against the railing on the 10th deck, it was perfect. Pirate night was so much fun. I loved watching all the kids dance; they looked like they were having the time of their lives. The show was great and of course I loved seeing Pirate Stitch. The fireworks were amazing. I expected a few low sparkles nope; this was a full fireworks display. I couldn’t believe they could do fireworks like that off a ship. It is worth going to Pirate night just to see them. Pictures of Pirate Night (sorry some are a little blurry):
After the show was over we walked down to the Pirate Buffet but it was so crowded and we were definitely not hungry so we just passed it, we went to the drink station and that was even more crowded then the buffet, it was the only time the entire cruise that you really saw how many people were actually on the ship. It was Karaoke night and I always enjoy watching other people sing so we went to Diversions and were the only ones there. I figured everyone was still up at the buffet and we didn’t want to wait so we just called it a night. I have to say by far my favorite day on vacation ever. Because of this day we are now obsessed with going back and if we hadn’t already planned a trip to Hawaii this year with my sister we would be. All my husband keeps saying is “I don’t want to go to Hawaii, I want to go on a Disney Cruise” and I have to agree with him. We had a better time on the cruise than we did in Hawaii.

Wow, great trip and beautiful pictures! It sounds like you had food poisoning there at the start. All the symptoms you described fit.

Just caught up with your Trip Report so far and really enjoyed it. Although it was a rocky start, it sounds like you had a wonderful, relaxing time together. Your pictures are beautiful and really make you want to visit Parrot Cay. I love your POC t-shirts and pirate bandanas! Can't wait for more.

You added on to this thread while I was on my Disney cruise, so I'll reply to it and bring it to the front of the line!
Wasn't the dinner and service at Pal just amazing? I had the filet and the souffle also and they were exceptional!
I just love reading that you had so much fun on the cruise - - better than Hawaii! Wow!

Palo was amazing. My husband and I are trying to book concierge our next cruise just so we can eat there more than one night.
Yes, we both agreed that it we had a better time than we did in Hawaii. I guess it is that there is always something to do but you don't have to do anything at all. In Hawaii, after a couple of days there you have done everything there is to do and it costs a lot more. We're going to Oahu this year because there is more to do there so we'll see when we get back.
