A Magical 10 Night Trip, The 10th Month and The Orlando Trifecta- PTR - UPDATED 10/2 - Page 5 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I felt that was quite a success and at nearly $100 savings for the WDW tickets, I was quite happy. I wish I had been using these ticket services all along. I plan too but will depend if I can save.

My TR from my most recent trip is now underway. Includes: Universal Studios Florida, Disney World and Sea World Orlando Trifecta TR -Updated December 10th! TR is now COMPLETED!
Friday, February 24th Once again, I received another email from ParkSavers. Certainly, good news as I now had my WDW tickets! The tickets are through Expedia as it says so on the top of the printed paper ticket. The next bit of business was to go on My Disney Experience and link these tickets to my MagicBand. I chose my MagicBand as one of them is inactive as being three years old may not work. My other one is from last year and should be fine. I entered my ticket number and I got an error message regarding my ticket number! Why won’t this work? After several minutes of looking around at the various ticket types I figured it out. For my ticket, you must leave a space after each set of four characters of the total of twelve that needed to be entered. Unfortunately, you don’t enter it like the number is displayed on my ticket. At least it finally worked and they don’t make this easy!
Sunday, February 26th I went on the VisitOrlando.com website to purchase my tickets for Universal Studios and SeaWorld. It was an easy process purchasing them together. The SeaWorld ticket came to $85 including tax. My 3 day Park to Park ticket for Universal came to $255 for a total of $339.71 for the two ticket purchases. I will receive these tickets within 24 hours as PDF files.
Another thing I was interested in doing on the Universal portion of my trip was to experience the Halloween Horror Nights at Universal. It looks like a fun event and certainly has the scare factor to it. Much different than MNSSHP at the Magic Kingdom, which is very family friendly. I read some reviews of this on various websites and I was sold as tickets for this event just became available. I purchased mine for $74 including tax. It’s a Sunday-Friday Flex ticket as the Saturday tickets are more being the most popular day for this event. When I purchased this ticket, I also had to choose the day I would be attending, which will be Thursday, October 5th. I’m very much looking forward to this!
There is also a VIP experience with the Halloween Horror Nights, which may be a good option for me. It’ called the Halloween Horror Nights R.I.P. Tour. The HHN events can get quite crowded and there can be two hour waits for the various haunted houses. Last year there were nine of them and I’d like to see all of them. The tour lasts up to five hours. There is a limit to twelve guests on the tour, but there are various times on each night for these. It includes a private cash bar with some free appetizers before the tour. It also includes visits to all the haunted houses, reserved seating at the Bill & Ted’s show as well as a Universal Express pass for the evening. There will be time after the R.I.P. Tour to use the latter. These are a separate charge for Halloween Horror Nights and run about $80 or so. The cost for the tour varies, depending on the night you choose but are at least $160 and probably over $200 for the most popular nights.
Monday, February 27th I received an email from VisitOrlando.com and my tickets for Universal Studios and SeaWorld. The tickets were in separate PDF files as promised. Now, a big part of the planning was now concluded as I had all my park tickets!
Tuesday, February 28th During the morning, I received an email from American Express regarding a transaction I was not present for. I had been somehow recharged for the deposit of $140.96 at the B Resort, which I had called several days ago to have credited to my American Express account. The saga just won’t end!
I called the B Resort and talked to Rob in guest services. He said someone in reservations had changed the credit from my new card to my old card, which is now closed. They thought it was on the wrong card as it wasn’t the one I had made the original deposit with. Now, not only is the credit on the wrong card, but now they added a new charge to my new card. I told Rob that I need this new charge removed and then a credit issued to my new card for the deposit amount as my old card is closed and I can’t be credited a charge on a closed account.
Why can’t they get this right? They should have left it alone! Rob said it will be credited to my account within 4-7 days. He said to call back if I don’t receive this by then. He emailed me a copy of the original amount that I’d been credited for, but just on the wrong card. If this doesn’t get resolved within the next ten days or so, I will call American Express and have them rectify it.
Saturday, March 4th I called Universal VIP Tours and requested information and costs regarding the Halloween Horror Nights R.I.P. Tour. I talked to Dan and he gave me basic information on it. He didn’t have the costs on this experience as they can’t be booked yet. He said it would be around June or July at the very latest for the booking period to begin. I gave him my info and the date I wanted, for Thursday, October 5th. He said I will be put on the waiting list and will be contacted by phone and email when this becomes available.

Good grief with the AMEX! The next update doesn't sound promising! . Congrats on all the tickets!!
The AMEX card hasn't been the problem, it's been the B Resort as the way they're handling my credit and the cancelled reservation. Getting a bit of the runaround. The problem being as the original charge was on a cancelled card and getting the credit transferred to the new one. I would think they should be able to deal with this as this may be common. They've been open for two years now and are owned by Marriott.
The next update doesn't sound promising and you'll see how this saga continues to evolve. The whole thing just baffles me and could have been settled rather easily at once! There should be an end eventually to this!
Glad I got all my park tix and all went well with some huge savings on the WDW tickets at about $100 from buying them direct!

Congrats on getting all your tickets! So sorry the Resort B/credit card saga continues.
So happy with the tickets and big savings for the WDW tickets. I think going through the brokers may be the way to go for WDW, but depends on the promos that are being offered. Like last year both are through Parksavers. This was their best ticket promo and just so happens for the amount of days I needed, just like last year for 7 days.
The B Resort issue remains to be a big pain in the neck and they could have resolved this easily and quickly. They acted without knowing all the specifics and without contacting me as they should have done. I'm hoping to have this resolved soon and more in the next update. This won't prevent me from returning to the resort as I was very happy with my stay there and a great and spacious room and a good staff too!

How great you have all the tickets! I'll be interested to see what you make of Halloween Horror Nights. I know they're not for us, as I just don't like that much horror. We've had friends who've gone and one seriously lost her voice the next day, she screamed so much that night!
Oh my goodness, the credit card saga goes on... and on!
How frustrating with the B Resort. I'm glad you got all your tickets. I remember having a similar problem with the "paper" disney tickets and linking to the MDE. The Universal Horror nights sounds intriguing. I'm not a big horror fan but can't wait to hear about it.
Oh, we LOVED Halloween Horror Nights! We've done in twice now. I believe one was ICU...can't remember the second! We had so much fun but it is SERIOUSLY scary!! I had 4 college-age guys glued to my back at one haunted house, screaming like crazy, after they were entering the house all full of macho...I think one of the cm's heard them and let the cast inside know...they sort of ignored me and went after these big strapping guys! Dave and I just about died laughing at them Definitely, if it's not too big of a budget strain, I'd consider the tour. When we went it wasn't too busy, but this was several years ago (2001 and 2005) and Disney wasn't that busy then either!
Congrats on getting the rest of your tickets! I've seen You Tube videos of HHN and, although it seems awesome, it's not for me. I don't like being scared by things or people.

I'm looking forward to the Halloween Horror Nights and the scariness that goes with it as I've heard they do it quite well from the haunted houses to the various Halloween characters on the streets. Very happy I have all of my tickets as I got this out of the way pretty fast.
The credit card situation is starting to get beyond ridiculous and is quite aggravating. Just hoping for a resolution soon!

What a nice feeling to have all of your tickets in hand and ready to go!! Sorry about your AMEX issues.
Very happy with the tickets and not so with the AMEX situation by the B Resort!

A bit aggravating with my credit from the B Resort and hope they can make this right and soon. It's a bit of a hassle linking the tix as you don't do this often with the format different on the ticket than on the Disney site. Looking forward to the Halloween Horror Nights and hoping I'll enjoy it.

The B Resort just can't get it right, but enjoyed everything else about the resort last year. Interesting experience with HHN ans sounds like it will be more realistic than I thought with an extreme scare factor! I can't wait for this! Glad you have enjoyed it! I'm definitely considering the RIP tour and you'll find out how it pans out in my plans in future updates.

I'm hoping they can as well as it shouldn't be that difficult! Very happy getting all my tickets Looking forward to HHN and hoping I enjoyed it and being scared. I've heard it's very realistic with the cast targeting the guests very much so!
