One if By Land - TR by Coop/ChukkerB - Page 5 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Very nice day. When you're staying at a resort as amazing as AKL it makes sense to spend a lot of time roaming around there. Glad you enjoyed your Sanaa lunch. I like lunch there better than dinner because you have more animals joining you-- that giraffe is so cute! I've never been to Splitsville. May have to try it!
What fun park free day you had relaxing and enjoying some great restaurants!!! I haven't tried either Sanaa or Splitsville but I'm going to have to keep them on my radar as the food looked delicious That sushi roll looked so good!
Love the bread service at Sanaa! Glad you were able to enjoy splitsville - not many places you can get sushi and a burger... Although I was recently looking into cowfish!

Good to know about splitsville. We passed by there on our way to cirque show.
Love Cirque! But you NEED to make time for Splitsville - awesome food!

Thanks Linda! You need to keep those on your list! Chuck thought that Dragon roll was the best on property!

Lisa, you really do! Their margarita gives other places a run for their money! I would definitely do a drink with you there!

Cowfish is a new(ish) addition to Citywalk at Universal - it sounds interesting...
"Burgers and sushi. Sushi and burgers. Certainly unusual, absolutely great. That’s The Cowfish™, the first and only Sushi Burger Bar, focused on offering both the best sushi AND the best burger in town. Our signature creations are what we call "Burgushi®"! A cutting edge fusion of burger and sushi, Burgushi® items include sushi rolls created using burger components, and pick-up style sandwiches created using sushi ingredients."
We were up at 7 am and had our tea/coffee on the balcony. After getting showered and dressed, we headed over to the Mara at Jambo House for breakfast.
We had FP at Epcot this am - so soon (around 8:30ish) we were boarding a bus for where else but MK?! We kind of played bus roulette - whichever came first MK or Epcot. So we got over to MK and then got on the Ferry over to TTC where we got on a monorail headed for Epcot. Talk about round about way to get there! It took almost 90 mins total travel time! It would have been less time had we waited for the Epcot bus in the first place!
Work at the Poly from the ferry
Our first FP was for SE and we were right on time. We rode and our end video was the conga line but it didn't come through to my email. Our second FP was for the Character Spot and we were going to try to meet up with Cam and Luke around this time but we skipped this FP because we didn't get the Memory Maker and Chuck didn't really feel into it. I kept in text contact with Cam and they had done their visit with the fab 5 and headed on over to WS. We visited Mousegears and Club Cool then went over to ride Living with the Land. We checked on the wait time for Soarin' but Chuck didn't want to wait for it even though I said I'd wait for him because I no longer ride this. After all this, our TT FP was ripe. We designed our cars and rode that - I think coming in 2nd for our car design overall. Then we headed over to WS to start our F&WF! By this time, Cam and Luke had a head start and were somewhere around UK going on France. We stopped at Greece and had Spanikopita and the griddled cheese and a wine. Then I went to the Port and got us each a Cronut! Where have these been my entire life? After that it was on to Canada and we shared the filet and a cheese soup. Chuck got the MooseHead Beer and I had the apple ice wine. By this time, it was getting very hot and we were both a bit cranky so we decided to head back to the room and continue the F&WF for dinner later on. We took the direct way back this time and headed out for a swim.
When we got into the hot tub, it wasn't working right - no bubbles. One of the other people in the tub (there was another older couple and their teenage grandkids) got out and let the CM's know that there was something wrong. So they said they had to get maintenance down to fix it but in the meantime, one of the "pool game" people came over and tossed us some rubber ducky squirters so that we could make our own bubbles! Hahahaha. We had fun with those and so did the other couple - but the teenagers were just mortified! It was hilarious! Soon the CM's were there to fix the hot tub but by then we were ready to head out. We stopped for a quick drink at the bar to bring back with us.
We cleaned up and headed back to Epcot. I had texted Cam and found out that they would be finishing up with TT soon and we could meet outside of Mousegears for a few minutes. We pulled up a bench and waited. Not long and I saw Cam's bright neon yellow/green coat she had been wearing (I knew this as she had posted some pics on fb from earlier in the day) and I called out to her. We were soon in the biggest, warmest PP hugs ever! We chatted for a few but we noticed Cam checking her watch and knew that they had to scoot. Did we get a photo? Nooooo! Oh boy! So they were heading over to their dinner at Via Napoli and we were heading over to F&WF. We headed the opposite way this time going over to Mexico. I got the ribeye taco and Chuck had the shrimp taco and we shared the sweet corn cheesecake. I wanted to get a "real" margarita from Cava but the line was ridiculous - so I passed.
We went on to Farm Fresh where Chuck had the bacon pepper hash and I had a Key lime wine.
At Korea, Chuck had the kimchi dog and I had a blackberry wine.
At Germany, Chuck had a pretzel brat and I tried the pasta gratin which I found greasy, too oniony and lukewarm. I didn't finish it.
We slipped into Karmel Kusche for some caramel treats for later - caramel corn, chocolate covered caramel with sea salt and a german chocolate caramel cookie. We kept walking around the world but it was getting late. We stopped around America and the Eat to the Beat concert was Wilson Phillips so we listened to them for a couple minutes. Then we got a funnel cake - my first ever. It was just ok but very messy. We had decided to save the rest of the kiosks for another day and just headed out for a bus to AKL.
We had a little bit of a wait and the line was growing. We looked down the line and there was Cam and Luke! We all made it on the same bus but we were in the back and they ended up standing up front so no chatting on the ride. When we got off we did a quick "Bye" yell though. We got back to our room and dug into the caramel corn. That stuff NEVER lasts with us! A little catch up on fb and soon it was bedtime.
