Adults only – sampling southern England COMPLETED - Page 5 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

sounds like you are having a wonderful trip so far - sorry the rain spoiled some stuff but still looks like you adapted just fine.
Continued safe travels.
We've had an absolutely wonderful time at the Thermae Bath Spa - everything I hoped for and more, and even better Mark really enjoyed it, as he was a bit sceptical about how much he'd like it.
We had a stroll around Bath first, then spent much of the day at the spa, enjoying the rooftop pool, basement pool, steam rooms and having our very relaxing treatments. Ah - this is the life!
We're off out shortly to meet up with our friends for dinner - can't wait to see them again.
Like the little tidbits you're giving us about your ongoing trip! Too bad the rain spoiled some of your plans! Glad you had back ups!

My TR from my most recent trip is now underway. Includes: Universal Studios Florida, Disney World and Sea World Orlando Trifecta TR -Updated December 10th! TR is now COMPLETED!
A very short update tonight, as where we are, Internet is not good and it may drop out at any moment.
We've had a great day at the Cheddar Gorge caves and then SS Great Britain in Bristol. Thankfully the forecast from a couple of days ago (tipping rain all day) was wrong, and although there was some rain, it was generally only when we were driving.

Ok, well we are now home and wow what a last day it was! You seriously will not believe the photos I got on safari at Longleat earlier - we've never seen anything like it and both said it puts Kilimanjaro Safaris to shame.
As I've got quite a lot of the trip report written up while we were gone, I'm going to go straight ahead and start it now...
Saturday 3 May – part one: what do you mean it’s closed?
It was a much earlier start to our vacation than I had envisaged, as I woke up at 5:50am… good grief, that’s even earlier than on weekdays! I did try to go back to sleep, but failed, so I figured I might as well make the most of it and get up… at least then I could watch a bit more classic Doctor Who on the Horror Channel. Honestly, that is such a treat, as while I adore the new Doctor Who, pretty much ever since it returned to our screens in 2005, they haven’t shown anything from the classic series, which ran from 1963-1989. They used to show it all the time, and it’s wonderful to be able to rediscover it again.
We set off just before 9:00am, which was roughly when I was hoping to get on the road. As you can see, it was a beautiful day out…
It was pretty quiet on the roads, even on the usually notorious M25. I tell you, it’s so much easier to leave on the Saturday morning of a three day weekend, rather than the Friday night, as I’d guarantee that would’ve been a lot busier.
There were some beautiful colours in the trees…
Soon we were nearing our first destination for the day…
On the way into Winchester, we met a guy on a real mission, who nearly had an accident with us and some other cars. Honestly, he was obviously late for something, but as Mark said, it was the dog he felt sorry for, who was in the back of the car getting flung around.
We made our way into Winchester, and as you can see, it looked like a beautiful place…
We tried the car park right by the cathedral, and after one circuit and discovering it was full, Mark’s parking fairy was once again on hand to bring him luck, and he managed to get a space. I know I’ve said this before, and doubtless I will again, but he is so lucky when it comes to parking. He can always get a space, while I never can.
I did a double take at the parking rate - £1.30 (c. $2.20) for an hour. Wow, and we moan about parking where we live – and it’s considerably less than that.
We headed over the road and towards the cathedral. The first church on this site was built in 648, but the present building we can see today was only started in 1079, with changes and additions made right up to the 16th century. Originally, it was a Benedictine monastery.
It was a beautiful place, but this was as much as we’d see of it, as when we got there, there was a sign saying that it was closed to visitors until 12:45pm and it was only 10:30am now. We think, judging by some of the outfits we saw people wearing that it was a wedding, so I guess it’s understandable.
We found this, which had a nice Olympic link, as he’s holding the London 2012 torch…
We had a look in the gift shop nearby, but didn’t find anything in there. We did find this, which was interesting…
Then we headed out, seeing some of the various war memorials on the way…
