PTR - Cruising with the Perry's on the Fantasy updated 12/04/2013 - Page 5 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

We ordered room service that morning and it arrived around 7am. By this time Lydia and I were up. We don't have children who know how to sleep in. Once breakfast arrived Matt and Haleigh got up to join Lydia and I on the verandah. I poured Matt some coffee while the girls went next door to my parents. My dad is also a morning person so he was on his verandah.
After enjoying breakfast we headed to the pool for a few hours. Matt and I took turns riding the Aqua Duck with Haleigh. We didn't realize that Lydia couldn't go into the pools so I took her to Nemo's Reef and the Aqua Lab. The Aqua Lab was more for older kids IMO. She enjoyed Nemo's Reef for a short time.Haleigh went on the Mickey slide a few times.
Haleigh spent the rest of the trip in the Mickey pool. I was happy to see that Disney provides life jackets. I never thought to bring anything for Haleigh. She's never been a big swimmer, but during this trip she chose the pool with her new friend Haley over anything else, which was fine by us!
Since we were by the pool we decided to grab lunch at Cabana's, but they were still serving breakfast at 11 am. Surprised us. So we ate breakfast again!
After lunch my mom and I went to the Sophia Fior Trunk Show. I had never heard of them before. Beautiful jewelry, but very expensive. They gave all who attended a flower charm with a pink stone in the middle. We headed back to our rooms and took naps. My parents went to a martini tasting and really liked it. The cost was $15 per person.
I had to be up from resting by 2:30 since that was the appointment time for my up-do. Mom's appointment was at 2:15. I was ready by then so I went up to Senses Spa with her, which I shouldn't have. I got there too early and they didn't call me back till 2:45. . I was back in my room by 3:30.
Haleigh was hungry so she had ordered room service. Chicken fingers and french fries with chocolate chip cookies.
I loved my up-do!

It was 3:30 and Haleigh was getting very antsy for her BBB appointment. I had scheduled it for 4pm, but since we were ready early I thought I'd try to see if we could get in early. BBB is located on deck 5 midship. We headed down, walked in and they were able to take Haleigh early. The BBB is small, but very adorable. She met her FG! When I booked this appointment in June I asked Haleigh who she wanted to dress up as. I was happy when she chose Princess Minnie because the costume is an exclusive to DCL! We tried on her dress and shoes. The shoes were too tight so her FG got her a bigger size. Haleigh had four hair styles to choose from. I was worried because she hates having her hair brushed and I was thinking the tight up-do she would cry through it. I made sure to let her choose and not provide my input on which style I thought she should choose. She ended up choosing the Mermaid style which was simple, but elegant. Pulled her hair away from her face.
Haleigh getting ready for her make over!
Haleigh had her nails painted before the trip so she didn't want her FG to paint over them.
Haleigh had not seen herself yet so her FG asked for her to close her eyes as she turned her around to see her beautiful make over!
We were done within 30 minutes and on our way! By now it was 4pm, our original appointment time. Dinner was at 5:45. I wanted to have family pictures taken tonight and they were starting that at 5:15.

Haleigh looks just beautiful! I really like that they have more hair styles on the DCL version. That tight bun they do looks like it would give you a headache! She looks glamorous and sweet at the same time, and the pink dress is adorable. Can't wait to see the family photos!

TR-Cruising with the Perry's on the Fantasy updated 09/23/2013
Sunday, Sept 8 Continued
We made it down by 5:15 which is when the family photos were starting. You can take your photo on the staircase and in front of the Mickey statue. The line was long and I noticed they were offering free wine, beer and non-alcoholic drinks. I grabbed a glass of wine for me and a beer for Matt. I do not have any photos of us on the stairwell but I do have these in front of the statue!
Love them
By the time we were done it was 5:45. Dinner tonight was at Animator's Palate.
Side note here: My one complaint this entire trip was that other than formal night, we did not have our pictures taken before dinner because they weren't open yet. Last year I recall on Pirate night they had a backdrop set up before dinner and we had our pictures taken. They were offering that, but it was either at 5:30 when there was a long line and we had to get to dinner, or it was after 6pm when my kids had their dinner on their clothes so we couldn't get pictures taken. Not sure if I missed something on the Navigator's but my recommendation to Disney would be start family photos at 5:15 for people with 5:45 dinner seating.
Ok, moving on. My mom wasn't thrilled that our formal night was at AP. I was alright with it since our last cruise we only got to eat dinner there once.
Haleigh checking out the ocean
Haleigh with our server O'Neil.
He was fantastic! If anyone knows how I can contact DCL to tell them about our great dining experience please let me know! He came and grabbed Haleigh's hand and they were off to our table! Another night I had my hands full. Matt took Haleigh and I had the stroller, Lydia and a shopping back from the gift store. I was parking the stroller and O'Neil saw me outside the restaurant, he came out, unbuckled Lydia and asked if he could carry her to our table for me! I said yes please if she'll let you! Well she did. Lydia is a flirt with the boys, I'm in trouble. When we arrived at dinner he always got on the same eye level as the girls. Very sweet man! Much better servers than our experience last year on the Dream.
For dinner we enjoyed a bottle of Caymus. I ordered the wild mushroom risotto as a starter and grilled pacific black cod as my entree.

Me and my girls
Both girls enjoyed a Mickey Bar for dessert.
The night before, my parents were dining at Palo's. Our host asked if we were celebrating anything during our cruise. I told him my parents just celebrated their 29th wedding anniversary. He arranged for a special dessert!
Now onto the surprise!! Yesterday my mom and I were checking out the Navigator and it mentioned a Princess Tea Party. We went to guest services for more details and to find out the cost. It sounded very similiar to what they offer at the Grand Floridian, but on the Fantasy it's a tea party with 3 Princesses. It's also very new, I'm not sure if it's offered on any other ship. I heard the cost and said no way, Haleigh was already doing BBB. Well, my parents had gone down to guest services on Sunday and bought tickets for Haleigh and I to attend the Princess Tea Party! Our server brought them to us on a nicely decorated plate!
I'm pretty sure I was more excited than she was. The Tea Party was on the day we were at St. Thomas. More on that later
After dinner we waited in line to see Minnie Mouse
After that I rushed to my 8pm appointment at Senses. I had made this appointment right before going to dinner. I had the $50 credit I wanted to use on a day we were at sea so I choose Thursday. I had looked through the book on what they offered and chose the Bamboo massage. The cast member said they were running a special today, if you booked 75 min then you only had to pay for 50 min plus I told her I wanted to use my $50 credit. She said no problem, see you at 8pm! I was really looking forward to it. Once I was in the room the crew member proceeded to tell me that this massage was meant for cellulite treatment and he went on a 5 min talking spree on how you get cellulite. Well I was looking for something relaxing and he said then I should have chosen a hot stone massage. At this point I'm furious because the tone in his voice was not nice. He said since I was already here they would do the massage. Overall it was a nice massage, not nice crew member. When leaving I handed the lady my credit she said they would apply it towards my bill. The next day I tell my mom I wasn't happy with the way I was treated at the Spa and they messed up my account and didn't apply the credit. I went to guest services and they called Emma the Spa manager. According to her you can't apply credit when they are running a special. I gave her the name of who took care of me and said she never told me I couldn't. I then told her I wasn't happy with the service I received and I told her everything. Emma spoke with the crew member and called me back an hour later apologizing and she cleared my bill. That's not what I was trying to get her to do and I told her that, but she said sometimes this happens and they want to make their customers happy. I appreciated that.
After my massage I went to our stateroom to find these two gorgeous girls still up
I love the photo of you guys with the statue! Sorry about your spa experience, but it does sound like Emma came through for you in the end, although I appreciate that wasn't what you wanted. You wanted a relaxing treatment and it's a shame you didn't get that.
Your before-dinner photos are so nice! I love the way the colors of your three dresses complement each other. Having a great server makes such a difference, even when you're not traveling with small children. I can imagine how great it is with kids-- O'Neil sounds like a true gem. What a shame that the relaxing treatment you'd been looking forward to turned into an unpleasant encounter with a not-nice CM! I'm glad they made it up to you monetarily, but, still, you missed out on a nice time at the spa.

I do like that photo also. Will probably be our family Christmas picture this year.
I wasn't expecting any sort of reimbursement, but that was very nice of Emma. I did have a nice experience in the salon that afternoon getting my up-do with my mom. That was nice!
