Wow! Is he really 10 years old? Let's go to Disney! - The TR - COMPLETE!! 5/28 - Page 5 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I kept trying to use multi-quote to reply but it wasn't working right for me...
Ack.
I hear what you're saying about DVC....I'd love to add on another 50 points at AKV, but we can't afford the down payment even right now, and we really need a new car (which we can't get until our cc's are paid off)...ugh. It's never ending it seems...as I'm sure you know. But it would be great for your guys if and when you can swing it.
I'm glad we bought in when we did.
Congrats on being PIF!!! That is awesome!! You're that much closer to actually being there! YAY!!
Rides....
I also will never go on Astro Orbitor....it just reminds me of those rides on the Boardwalk on the Jersey shore or Six Flags back in the 80s....
Tea cups? I went on once...never again...the spinning itself was ok with me at the time, but when my BF at the time, spun us more....that made me you know..kind of sick to my stomach....I like the design and the theming, the colors are great! But the actual ride...not so much.
I have no problem on MS, but you most likely would from what I know about you. what do you think about the milder version though? I always go on the more intense one...
LOL...Soarin'! I still think you hate me for that! I really didn't think you'd be so bad from it! Heather and I were hoping once you got on and got used to the sensation you'd love it and laugh!
How many days are you at now Kim?

Congrats on being PIF and getting checked in! I hear on the spinning rides, no thanks! Especially Mission Space, just thinking about that ride makes me queasy.
How awesome to be PIF! :w;aytogo: I love the list of rides you will NOT do! Perfect!
PIF! Happy Dance!

My DH went on it and thought it was nothing but I think he went on the green side. So I told him he needs to be sure to go on the orange side this time and see what he thinks. He likes stuff like that, not me.

Ack. Bummer it would not cooperate!

I'm glad we bought in when we did. I will be really glad when we can join! We spend most of our vacations there anyway! LOL Also now with my sister being in California and so close to Disneyland it really would pay off for us to join. I hear you about the new car thing, we have actually replaced one car twice in the last year and a half but it is what it is and Thank God for my Mom and Stepdad who have helped us out tremendously in that department.

No you are right I am sure I would not like it at all!

I totally do not hate you for that at all! Seriously! I am glad that I did do it and parts of it were ok but the whole height thing and that fact that my feet were not touching the ground was just too much. I think I would like it better if we were sitting safely on the ground watching it instead. LOL
How many days are you at now Kim?
We are just under 43 days! So ready to be there but seriously know we need more time to set aside spending money and there is a little thing called packing.
PIF is always a good thing. Great park days planned. I love having down days after a long crazy day(s) in the park.
the waiting game is the worst (sing it with me - oh the waiting is the hardest part)

Yes I think after the first two days of level 10 crowds a down day will be nice and much needed, so it worked itself out. I am singing it with you - oh the waiting is the hardest part! lol
I thought I might give some thoughts as to our meals:
May 25 (arrival day) - Since we only have 10 day hoppers we are not going to a park when we arrive. This actually works best for us and we don't feel rushed to unpack and can take our time. Now we ate at a tex-mex type restaurant a few years ago called Chevy's that is just across from DTD off of state road 535. They have great food and great Margaritas! So this is where we plan to have dinner and then we plan to go to DTD to shop and enjoy.
May 26 - The Plaza: We have never been to this restaurant in all the times we have been to the Magic Kingdom. I have heard good things about it but the most important thing to me is that they can make me a Dairy-free Milkshake! So we just had to try it. I hope that it is as good as I want it to be. I miss Ice cream.
May 27 - Tony's Town Square: We ate here in Oct 2010 on our MNSSHP night and thoroughly enjoyed it. Great food, great service. I wanted a restaurant close to the MK for this night that was not already on our plans and this just worked out.
May 28 - Boma: We loved this place. There was just so much to chose from we could not possibly try it all so it was a must to come back here. Originally I booked this early so we could go to Epcot for EMH but this has ended up being an off day but we are going to come early and check out AKL, love this resort!
May 29 - Askershus: We have never been here and figured we would give it a try at least once. It was a toss up as to which would be better - breakfast or dinner and we decided to go for breakfast, figured they really could not go wrong with that.
La Hacienda: We ate here in June 2011 and really liked it. We were lucky enough to get a table by the windows so we could watch illuminations. My DS really liked that. Hope we get a great seat again!
May 30 - Kouzzina: We had breakfast here and really loved it. It was quiet and peaceful and the Chef made my DS anything he wanted.
Dinner is open this night since it is an off day so who knows what will happen with that one.
May 31 - Be Our Guest: I thought this would be hard to book but it was actually quite easy when our ADR date come along. I have heard many good things about this so far, hoping that it will be just as good for our dinner.
June 1 - Cape May Cafe' - This has become our MUST DO on every trip! We love this place and have never had a bad meal or bad service here. Plus we love seafood! DS loves the chicken nuggets here, can not get enough of them.
June 2 - 1900 Park Fare - This is a make up meal. DH was still recovering from a 24 hour tummy bug when we went here the last time in Christmas 2008. So he never got to eat any of the food, so this time he will actually get to try it. It was very good the last time I ate it. Hope it is just as good, loved the strawberry soup!
June 3 - Grand Floridian Cafe: We loved our breakfast here so we just had to come back. Who knows maybe we will see Cinderella's Coach again and I might actually get a picture this time.
Kouzzina:We have yet to try dinner here and I was able to work it in since we needed a non-park restaurant for this night. I hope dinner is as good as breakfast is!
June 4 - Chef Mickey's:We really loved our dinner here in 2008 and have since tried breakfast and much prefer the dinner. So we are hoping dinner will be just as good as it was the last time we were here.
June 5 - Hollywood & Vine:We have not been here before either and really thought my DS would like all the character interaction. We are doing the Fantasmic Dinner Pkg. here as well. We have never seen Fantasmic either! So a night of firsts!
June 6 - Garden Grill:This is another new place for us. I figured we could not go wrong with The Land and Chip and Dale! Hope the rotation does not bother us too much.
June 7 - Beirgarten:Another favorite of ours! DS loves the entertainment and we love the food!
June 8 - Kona Cafe':This is new to us. Just had to try out this Tonga Toast I hear so much about. LOL
San Angel Inn:We first ate here on our Honeymoon, our arrival night and it was just wonderful. We loved it! We went here again in December 2008 and it was not quite as good as it was back in 2000. So we have not been back since but thought we would give it another go.
June 9 - We leave this day to drive back home. It has become tradition that we have breakfast at Perkins before we leave. Love their food here and really wish we had them up in Atlanta. So we will not break this tradition and will stuff ourselves with yumminess before we start the long drive home, which will hopefully be tantrum free from DS! Wish us luck with that one!
