As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So, I caught the stomach bug after Elizabeth Frances and it laid me out for a couple of days. But I'm feeling better now, so let's get on with it!
Phil left early this morning to go watch a friend of his who was playing in the Children’s Miracle Network golf tournament. We slept in until about 8:30. We had breakfast again at Roaring Forks, and then left for the Magic Kingdom. It was very chilly today; we needed sweatshirts. My dad didn’t want to go on any rides today, so he took Elizabeth Frances and went shopping. We went on Aladdin and POTC.

After leaving POTC, we saw they had just started the Pirate Tutorial. We watched, and the boys were picked to go up at the end of the show to get their certificates (they weren’t picked for the sword tutorial). We then went on Splash Mountain, which only had a 10 minute wait because it was so cold no one wanted to get wet. We got FP for BTMRR first, which had a 45 minute wait. After Splash Mountain, we got Patrick and William hot dogs to eat, then rode BTMRR. I offered to sit out with William since he had hated it so much the first time around, but he wanted to go. The second time was no better, as he cried through this one, too. So no more BTMRR for him!
We met up with my dad, who had been taking Elizabeth Frances on the Baby Napper, er, People Mover. We went to some of the Main Street shops and bought the boys some t-shirts. My parents wanted an afternoon to themselves, so they headed off to Epcot while I went back to WL. We were back by 2:15, but waited by the pool because mousekeeping was still working on our rooms. The boys played at the WL Pool Party until about 2:45, when we were able to go upstairs.
I put Elizabeth Frances down for a nap, then went down to Roaring Forks to get lunch for myself and Phillip (Phillip stayed in the rooms with the kids). Phil came back while I was gone. He took the boys swimming after lunch, and Elizabeth Frances and I napped.

We left for Epcot at 6, and had just enough time to watch Turtle Talk with Crush. Then we went to Le Cellier for our dinner reservations. I had the Cheddar Cheese Soup as my appetizer and the NY Strip Steak for my main course. For dessert I had the Chocolate Trio, which was only so-so.
We left about 9:25 and had a long wait for the bus. We got back to the hotel around 10:30. Everyone was in bed and asleep by 11:00.

Just read from start to finish! Great TR. I'm especially paying attention to the parts with your 1 year old! We'll be traveling with our DS who be just a couple months shy of 2 and am trying to get as many tips as I can.
Phil had golf plans today, so you can guess how the kids behaved. That’s right—TERRIBLY. We were up at 7:30 and had room service for breakfast. Elizabeth Frances wasn’t acting like herself; she is usually very laid back and easy but today she was crying constantly and throwing fits. The boys were also not listening to me. My parents took Elizabeth Frances for the morning while I took the boys to The Pirate’s League for their makeovers. It was really chilly this morning, especially on the ferry. I had to buy a sweatshirt at the park. We got to The Pirate’s League early, and the boys chose their makeovers—Phillip went with the Captain Jack, Patrick did Captain Hook, and William did the Ghost Pirate.
After they were sworn in, we went to Aloha Isle for Dole Whips (we still had about 42 snack credits at this point, and we were leaving tomorrow! ). Then we headed back. When we first arrived at MK, it wasn’t very crowded, but as we were leaving the lines to get in were insane. Touring Plans had MK listed at a 9.8 I think for the day. Crazy!!
We caught the ferry back, and I met a woman with a very strange story. She sat facing me, and I could see she had a black eye. I asked her jokingly if she had cut someone off in line, but she told me this story:
Her daughter (who was about 12) wanted to ride EE, but the mom didn’t want to, so she (the mother) decided to wait in the gift shop while her daughter got in the single rider line. While perusing the gift shop, she noticed two men when one man slugged the other. The man who had hit the other guy started to run out of the shop, saw her, and then hit her. As he was exiting, he kicked another woman. The mother was taken to medical, where the director of the park approached her. Apparently the man had gotten away and they couldn’t find him. The mother and daughter were given several FP and VIP tickets to the Lion King show.
The ferry captain was also listening to this story. I asked the woman, “Wasn’t security around?” I always thought that there were a ton of plain-clothes security people around at all times. The ferry captain confirmed that this was true; there was always a ton of security around, you just don’t notice them. Anyway, the guy got away.
We decided to go to Whispering Canyon for lunch, and I had the Cheddar Cheese Soup and the Barbeque Chicken Salad. We met my parents there, and they brought down Elizabeth Frances. Phil finished golfing and came and got the kids while I waited to settle the bill. We went back to the room and packed for bit; I put Elizabeth Frances down for a nap and Phil took the boys to HS. My parents came to our rooms and we watched the LSU/Auburn game (Geaux Tigers!) Phil and the boys returned about 7:15. They had done Star Tours, Muppet Vision, TSMM and some pin shopping.
While watching the game with me, my mom started complaining of not feeling well. She looked rather pale when she left. We had dinner reservations at Artist Point, and I was not surprised when only Dad came. I had the mixed green salad appetizer and the scallops. Both were very good. My dad left before dessert, and Phil took Elizabeth Frances back up to the room to put her down to bed. I had the fruit cobbler for dessert, and it was excellent.
The boys and I headed to my parents’ room to say goodbye since they were leaving very early the next day. My mom looked a lot better, so I think she just needed to rest. We left them, and headed back to our rooms. I packed a little more, then went to Roaring Fork to get a drink. While coming back, I overheard a middle-aged woman complaining to her companion (husband?) about all the kids around: they’re everywhere, they’re loud, they’re crying, they’re underfoot. I shook my head and thought, what do you expect? It’s a kids’ resort! Just deal with it! Maybe one day they will open up an adults-only hotel, but for now, just embrace it!
