As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

We both got up at about 4am and thank goodness we were able to fall back to sleep.
I got up first about 7am and was going to go to the food court and grab a drink while Juan slept but he got up when I opened the door.
He got up and got dressed and we were out the door. We hit the food court where I grabbed banana bread and juice with snack credits and Juan bought 2 sodas oop.
We waited a bit for a bus and then we were off to epcot. Walked right in at 9am. Walked right on soarin. Grabbed fast passes on the way out. Rode living with the land, figment, memo and saw crush all before our fast passes were ripe. Took our second great ride.
We were starving at this point so we went around to the uk and grabbed some fish and chips, both with shortbread and I got a diet and Juan got a coke. Yummy. We headed back to fw and took a detour to the tree. Juan went to get out the camera to grab a pic and he realized that the screen was cracked. Boo! Great no more digital camera. So we went into mouse gears and bought a twin pack disposable. At least I have photo pass.
Duffy was out in his Christmas hat and coat so we got a pic and then went into the stores - no purchase yet. Hit mission space next - walked right onto green version.
Made our way into the world showcase next. We hit gran fiesta tour and then maelstrom. That was our longest wait of the day. We got an ice cream from the outpost and people watched for a little bit.
We wanted to do the American adventure but we would not have enough time before dinner, so we made our way into Italy to wait. I went into the shops and ended up getting a really pretty alabaster necklace. We checked into tutto early and were seated right away. I got the penne caldera with iced tea and the chocolate torte. Juan got the pork chop filled with prosciutto and fontina cheese with a a coke and chocolate gelato - YUMMY! We waddled out of there ready to call it a day.
Of course on the way back out of the park i saw the caramel shop and just had to stop. I got Juan a chocolate covered pretzel and I got some caramel corn and a caramel bar for breakfast.
I also got a Duffy bear - they were having a sale on outfits so I got 2 outfits for 50% off. After that purchase we headed out.
We were able to sleep in this morning as tonight was party night. However being in bed so early the night before we did a lot more lounging in the room watching tv than sleeping.
We left the room about 1:30 and were walking into the magic kingdom about 2 ish. We decided on cosmic ray's for lunch so we headed over to tomorrowland. We did stop for a quick pic in front of the tree first. I had the guacamole cheeseburger with a diet coke and carrot cake, Juan had a chili cheese dog with a coke and chocolate cake. It was ok - not my favorite cs place we ate at all week. From there we hit the people mover, carousel of progress and the laugh floor. We walked toward the castle and got a couple of photopass pics in fron of the castle. Then we walked towards fantasyland. I grabbed fast passes for peter pan and then we hit small world, mickey's philharmagic and the haunted mansion before we went back to use our peter pan fast pass.
We headed back towards main street for our ressie at the crystal palace. This was by far our longest wait. Both outside and inside. Not the waiter was bad just really slow service and slow character wait and decent food. I was so looking forward to this meal and was a little disappointed.
After dinner it was pretty much time for us to go and find out where to go get our wristbands for the party. We ended up having to go outside the park and showing our tickets to get back inside. A little weird if you ask me. After we walked back in we headed to get our pics with minnie and mickey in christmas outfits and the photopass person had something wrong with the camera and where we did not have a working camera we had to wait for a new photopass photograper. After that we went in search of the christmas sweatshirt that I wanted. We went through every shop and the only thing that we could find was a youth. So that was a bust so we headed to find other party merchandise. I ended up with a couple of really cool christmas party pins. We really just walked around taking in all the decorations. We found a decent spot for the fireworks and then walked up and down trying to find a spot for the last parade. It was cold that night but I was brave!! We saw the parade - it was awsome and then headed back to pop.
In bed really late tonight.
Today was another day to sleep in as we were going to do storytellers, candlelight processional ans illuminations.
We got to the park about 10:30 and just enjoyed our last day at epcot until the ws opened. We were first in line to see the canadian storyteller and i really enjoyed it - i thought it was cute. The next one tht we wanted to see was franxe so we went over to the shops so i could get something for my mom for watching my peanut. I got her a set of monet coasters (she loves monet!) afer i had them shipped back to pop i went and scoped out a sight for the french storyteller. Do not know what went wrong here - maybe it waa the people standing in front of me or the fact that i could not hear a word he said but i got turned off from the rest of thr storytellers right there.
I got a glass of wine from the france kiosk and we proceeded to watch the server amusants - i got picked to sit in the audience. That was fun. To backtrack just a little after canada storyteller we went and got fish and chips for lunch again - it was so good. Same meal as last time except we did not get shortbread this time we got extra chips instead.
After the frannce show we decided that we did not want to do any mote storyteller we just wandered around people watching - we did not do a whole lot of rides this day. We rode grand fiesta tour a few times because we had san angel ressies for the candlelight processional at 4pm. We checked in and were seated a little late but not much.
I got the tostadas, the steak dish with the cheese enchilada and i can not quite remember what i got for dessert i think it was some sort of pudding though. Juan got the ribeye tacos, same entree as me and the ice cream for dessert. Super yummy!!
After we ate we got in line for the special processional seating.
This was by far the top thing we did this whole trip. We both loved it so much.
After it was over we were not in the mood to stay for illuminations even with reserved seating so we said goodbye to epcot.
Sounds like a great day--I'm sorry that you couldn't hear the storyteller in France, as I love him! I think the storytellers and the CP are my favorite part of the holidays at WDW. I love some education and culture on vacation!
