Lost Hats, Lost Gloves, but did we lose our minds? Trip Report - Dec 18-23, 2010 - COMPLETED - Page 5 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

We had another short wait for a bus to Epcot and we arrived around 5:30. We rode one of DH’s favorites.
We played around a bit.
We meandered towards Canada and got beer and drinks and popcorn to share. We stop at the phone booths as we have every year. This is the first year that we found the phones rang. DD and DS had the chance to speak with someone, who asked if they were having a good time.
We make it over to Morocco and listened to the story teller and DS actually shocked us all and volunteered to help. He did a great job if we must say so ourselves. DD did not want to volunteer for any of it. Kids are unpredictable.
As we watch the storyteller and listen to Mo Rockin’, DH and DW share their first item from the snack wish list. In our PTR we asked for suggestions to put on a Snack Wish list. We tried the orange Grand Mariner Slush. It was good, but at the end it was very strong.
At this point it is getting close to our 7:20 ADR for Teppan Edo. This is a first for our family. DD had picked this as her choice, but we let her think we cancelled it when we changed plans to be at AK for the day. We walked up these steps…
…..she notices where we are going and becomes very excited.
We wait about 20 minutes until our buzzer goes off. Part of the time we waited we were standing and we thought it was going to take forever. We finally got a seat in the waiting area and it seemed to go by faster at that point. We were seated with a younger couple and a man with his son. As soon as we get seated DS becomes unmanageable and difficult. DW attempts to see what it is that has caused him to become this way, but for the most part once this happens it does not go well for any of us. DW has offered to DS to go back to the room and watch a movie and eat something back there, but again he has gotten to the point of no return. We have at this point just about lost our minds. DW takes DS outside and gives him one last chance to make a choice. (Act nicely and get his favorite Miso soup or go back to the Disney home and watch a movie.) He miraculously calms himself down and decides he wants to stay. He walks nicely back to the table and he has a great time making a friend with the boy that was with his dad.
We all enjoyed our meal. Unfortunately we forgot to take pictures to share with all of you of our food. We enjoyed our show and would definitely eat here again.
After dinner all we want is…..
DW and the kids got to take advantage of the wonderfully big whirlpool tub and messaged those muscles and relaxed, before bed time.
Memories of Day 1
The weather today was….started cool with clouds than light rain to mostly sunny near 70
The best thing today was….Ddad enjoyed AK for the first time
The worst thing today was….DS losing it at Teppan Edo
The funniest thing today was....Tigger and DS bouncing together
Today we tried….Teppan Edo
And the result was….entertainment with a wonderful meal
The most magical moment today was….that our room was ready that early and it was beautiful
Up Next……MK All Day (Will we make Opening Ceremonies at 8:00?)

Day 2 Sun. 12/19
We wake up to see some animals had slept outside our room and were also just waking up.
We all enjoyed watching them off and on while we had some breakfast and got ready. We all were ready pretty quickly and headed out to catch the bus to MK. We did wait a while for a bus. It seems like every other bus came along more than once before we got our bus. We must have just missed one. We did not make Opening Ceremonies, which we had hoped to show Ddad. DH hopes one day to become Mayor of Main Street.
We head left to Adventureland first. DH went to get FP to BTMRR, while the rest of us ride Magic Carpet. Most of us (except DDad) ride twice since there is such a short line.
We rode Pirates, Jungle Cruise and watched some of the Pirate Tutorial. Since it had already started we really did not get into the show and moved on, DD reminded us that we had FP to use. Four of us rode BTMRR, DDad can’t ride those type of rides. We had a great ride and we saw Trace Adkins as we exited. He was narrating the Candlelight Processional that week. We didn't bother him but it was to see him. We get FP for later. We went to ride HM, we still can’t get DS to ride and Ddad doesn’t like small places. That was news to us. So they milled around the area to wait for us. We saw Hall of Presidents and as always really enjoy this show. We head to It’s a Small World and have a surprisingly long wait . The wait time was not accurately posted, but we entertained ourselves (especially kept DS occupied) and got on a boat where DD can’t help but take lots of pictures. Ddad enjoyed using his new camera and reliving the memory of experiencing this ride before.
Thanks to fellow PP, DH had read about how Pinocchio Village Haus overlooks this ride. He pointed it out to everyone and since we were hungry we decided to give it a try. Of course we again failed to take pictures. We were just so happy that there was not a long wait, since crowds had picked up and we were hungry. We got pizzas, meatball sub, and a salad. We all recommend this CS and the view was cool overlooking ISW.
Great update! So glad your DS managed to calm himself so you all could enjoy Teppan Edo. It is a favorite for my family!
