Guilt? What's that??? TR w/pics 9/9-9/14 - Page 5 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I am soooo ready for a water-park day today! This is going to be a leisurely morning for us, since we don’t have any ADRs to rush to. We headed over to the food court and spend a few snack credits for breakfast. I had a croissant, Sharon had a bagel with cream cheese, and we split a cheese Danish (yeah...total health food LOL).
We got to Typhoon Lagoon right after it opened and headed straight to High ‘N Dry Towel Rentals to sign in to our Getaway Glen reserved seating! The CM showed us a map of the area, but we had no idea what it really looked like, and no way to judge which seats were best. We asked her to give us a spot that stayed shady most of the day. She chose #10.
When we got there, #10 was in full sun. There were a few CMs milling around, so I asked them if they happened to notice which chairs stayed shady all day. They recommended #24. Sharon and I put our stuff down on #24, and went back to High ‘N Dry to tell the girl we changed seats, and have our wrist bands corrected.
After that, we headed straight to the Lazy River. It was already VERY hot. Apparently it was record-breaking heat, even for Florida (according to the weather man on their local Fox channel). The water felt heavenly. We grabbed an inner tube and floated around it twice before getting out for a cool beverage.
After getting a drink, we got into the wave pool for a few minutes, which we enjoy immensely. We went back to our seats (now #24 spot), only to find that the shade we previously had was completely gone. We walked over to a shady set of chairs and sat down for a few moments to cool off and think about what we could do about the lack of shade. I think pic #1 shows the big sunny area in the middle of Getaway Glen. Those big wooden poles use to have volleyball nets attached to them, so that's why there isn't much shade and they put all of the chairs around the edges.
We were facing a few of the rental cabanas (you can barely see one in pic #2 in the background), and noticed that the “Dad” of the family decided to empty his refillable mug by tossing its contents towards our #24 chairs. Had we been sitting there, we would have most likely gotten sprayed with old soda.
A few moments later, he exited his cabana and brazenly walked over to our two chairs and took one! Now, one may think they saw us sitting in the shade and assumed that we changed seats, but the amazing part is, our stuff was still sitting around it – our bag and one rental towel was on my chair, Sharon’s rental towel was on her chair and her sandals were on the ground in front of it! I couldn’t believe my eyes! I sat there very stunned that they would move our rental towel to my chair and then proceed to take away a chair from our spot (which was closest to their cabana). Now normally, I would’ve had a fit on such a rude demonstration, but since the area was too sunny for us anyway – we just peacefully gathered our things, gave them dirty looks, and proceeded to move to the shady spot. They didn’t even say “Oops! Do you want your chair back?” Nope – they just did it and didn’t apologize. Some people are just ridiculous! Nonetheless, I wasn’t letting them ruin our day. Besides, we didn’t want that spot anymore anyway. I just didn’t like that they intruded on our space and took liberties they should not have. Know what I mean?
We didn’t bother going back over to High ‘N Dry at that point. We just moved our things into the shade and went about our day. We were happily a little further away from the annoying family, so I could stop wasting my time glaring at them. LOL
The rest of the day was very nice. We went between the lazy river and wave pool until lunch (we ate at Leaning Palms – we both got a cheeseburger and fries). At about 4:30, we decided to head home to get ready for dinner at Downtown Disney’s Raglan Road.
ALSO - I just have to add that apparently, TheMadonna (a regular here on Passporter) and my sister saw the same woman in her "barely there" bikini! I realized it when I was reading her "Extreme First Date" TR when she was discussing her need for eye-bleach. My sister was just as shocked and kept trying to find the lady again - so that I could share her pain! Isn't that funny?
Tip: Don't forget your water shoes! Luckily, we brought some with us. The sand was so hot that it was burning people's feet and we witnessed many people running across the pavement and sand in pain.
Recommendation: #11, #10 & #9 - in that order - seem to stay shady most of the day, if shade is important to you. The Cabanas look awesome! I think you get 6 upgraded chairs (Adirondak style with cushions) rental towels, a cooler with ice and spring water, refillable mugs, plus a CM takes your food orders, places the order, and delivers it to you! Nice deal for a bigger family!
Sounded like a nice day other than the rude man who would have thrown soda on you and stole your chair.
I think that is so funny that you saw the same lady that TheMadonna3 saw.
Here are the pics of our Narcoosee's desserts... they were on my cell phone, so I had to e-mail them to myself before I could post them!
The first pic is Sharon's Almond Crusted Cheesecake (it doesn't look like a cheesecake, but OH MY GOSH was it GREAT!). The second one is my strawberry shortcake (it shifted in the box, so it doesn't look as pretty as it did at the restaurant). It was also very good, but the cheesecake definitely gets the prize here!
Oh, and my Glowtini with the sugared rim... YUMMY!!!

When I rented the space in Getaway Glen, I had the first set of chairs as you walk in on the right. I think the space was #19 as a cabana was right behind us. If we looked to our right we had a view of the wave pool. That spot was perfect as it was well shaded.
I cannot believe we were both at the world and missed each other
Raglan Road Dinner and a cute puppy waiting in our room!
We took the riverboat to Downtown Disney and explored for a bit before going to Raglan Road for dinner.
My appetizer was pretty good. I had something called Crazy Crab Rolls (or something like that). They were REALLY delicious, and I could have eaten them as an entrée! Sharon had the whiskey marinated chicken skewers – bland, bland, bland. They tasted like plain chicken breast. No spunk, no flavor and no mustard dipping sauce, as described on the menu (we were told it was drizzled over it, but there was NOTHING on that chicken). She used the chili plum sauce that came with my crab rolls which helped add some flavor.
For dinner, Sharon ordered the Fish & Chips. She said they were pretty good, but there was nothing special about them. I had the Pie in the Sky (Chicken and mushroom pie in a pastry shell). That was also fairly good, but nothing to get too excited about.
The dessert menu is odd... there wasn't anything that jumped out at us. We were pretty full anyway - but thought dessert would be nice to have later that night in our room. So, she ordered a strawberry-apple crumble that sounded nice, but turned out to be pretty awful. I ordered the fruit salad with yogurt and honey drizzle. WARNING: don’t go near the natural yogurt they serve on the side of the fruit plate – it was foul and very bitter! The crumble was so bad we decided to leave it behind, and just take the fruit home as a snack for the night.
The fruit was fresh and ripe... and we really did enjoy it. It had cantaloupe, honeydew, blueberries, and a few strawberries in it (sorry, no pic). It was also a huge serving - easily shared between two people. With all that said, I probably would not do Raglan Road again. It just didn’t seem worth it.
Again, a storm started kicking up, and the boats back to POFQ were shut down. We had to take that LONG bus trip back through Riverside’s 4 stops, and then finally getting back to FQ. I was starting to think we would never see the benefit of staying on the water-way! It was just our dumb luck that each time we tried to use it to go home, a storm would erupt.
When we got back to our room, we were greeted by this cute puppy towel animal. It was the only towel animal we got for this trip. I took this picture, and then I think I passed out… lol.

I KNOW - I was thinking about that too! You would've been my first "Passporter Friend Meeting".
I only saw one other lady in the bathroom / pool house at POFQ with a Passporter Holder around her neck. I wanted to ask her if she was a poster on the boards, but - well - I had just gotten out of the shower and was afraid she might find it odd for a soaking wet person to accost her while she washed her hands and start asking questions!

Thanks for that review of Narcoossee's and the awesome food pictures! We'll be going there for my birthday dinner in just a little over 2 weeks! Can't wait!
I get the same kinds of motion sickness that you do too! On our first ever trip to WDW, I passed on doing the tea cups with the rest of the family. I took the video camera from DH to catch the action and I actually go motion sick trying to video them!! How sad/pitiful is that?! And those over stuffed Disney busses can be killers for me! Can't wait to hear more about your trip!
I'm glad I'm not the only one! I hate that I get like that, but there's nothing I can do about it.
Part of me wishes I could just rent a car instead of using Disney transportation. I'm fine if I'm driving or at least in the front seat... hmmmm... maybe I'll look into that for my October trip!
Great time at Typhoon Lagoon except for the rude cabana folks with the entitlement complex! Dinner at Raglan Road just sounded so so -- I keep wondering about trying this one as it has seemed a bit hit and miss for folks.
I am just poting a quick note so I can come back later for more I have to get some zzzzzzz's but how did you like BWI we are about 1.5hrs from there and like half hour 45 min to PHL but we chose BWI becuase we heard it was smoother. Cant wait to read more
I just got all caught up with your trip report!! Sounds like you and your sister had a wonderful time. I love all your food photos and comments. My sister and I have a trip planned in a couple of weeks and I'm taking lots of notes from your trip!!
I've stayed at POFQ and enjoyed it very much.
Can't wait for more!

BWI was very nice. That was the first time I ever flew out of it, and would definitely recommend!
The other times I have flown were out of Pittsburgh (about equal to BWI), and Harrisburg International (too many delays, since it's a tiny airport).
BWI is probably worth the extra drive. Oh, and I keep gushing about Park 'N Fly -- and highly recommend the service, if you are looking for parking at the airport! I gave lots of info about it within my TR, but let me know if you have any other questions.

You will have a blast with your sister! It was very easy to move around the parks, and much easier to make quick decisions about attractions without anyone throwing a fit!

We had great super-duper early ressies for Crystal Palace (8:05 am). We hopped on the bus and were the only people on it! Our driver took us straight to MK and we arrived about 7:20 am. We stood in line in front of the gate until about 7:50, when they finally let us in. We took the opportunity to cash in one of our Give A Day Get A Day coupons, so we used the wait-time wisely.
It’s a short walk to CP from the entrance, and it’s such a pretty restaurant. We were seated by Barbara – and as she started turning to walk away, I noticed that her name tag said she was from Harrisburg, PA. That’s right across the river from where I grew up, and live now! Barbara was nearly 80 years old, and we found out that she was a 1951 graduate of East Pennsboro High School in Enola. She graduated from the same high school as we did! What a coincidence!
As a matter of fact, she got married in a church just up the street from my house. I think it was just as magical for her to see us, as it was for us to see her. Many times I would look up and see her standing across the room smiling at us. She would think of something about our hometown… and come over and ask us if we remembered it. It was a taste of home for her and having recently lost her husband, I think it made her feel good to talk with someone "familiar". We were a little piece of home to her. She was a sweetheart, and we will always remember her.
The lines at MK were non-existent! We literally walked right onto Splash Mountain. I have never done that before in my life. It was awesome! We also had a Give a Day Get A Day Fast Pass that we wanted to use in this park. We got it, but certainly didn’t need it. Instead, we collected the passes for our scrapbook, and just walked on the rides via standby line. We went on (in no particular order) BTMRR, Carousel of Progress, Haunted Mansion, Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Peter Pan’s Flight, Pirates of the Caribbean, Stitch’s Great Escape, Monsters Inc., Disney’s Rail Road and took the Jungle Cruise with one of the funniest CM’s I’ve ever met (Michael). He had such great delivery on his lines and it really made us giggle. Oh, and I got to ride in the front seat on Space Mountain. That is a really unique experience… holy cow! It was very cool. AND - for those of you with knee problems or of larger height or weight, this seat gives you the easiest exit because it has the most leg-room. Avoid row #4 at all costs if you need extra room – it’s the smallest!
We were done with the rides in this park so early that we spent a lot of the afternoon in the shops on Main Street. We ate ice cream and split a bag of chips for lunch. YUMMY! I know, it’s bad for us, but we’re on vacation!
We also had ADR’s for Tony’s at 7:00, but were way too hot and tired to stick around for hours until time to eat. We decided to bag it and go back to the hotel for a swim. On our way out of the park, we stopped for postcards and postage to fulfill our Fairy Godmailer duties. They had very cute holographic post cards there, which I chose for the little kids on my list, and regular ones for the big kids I was sending to. The lady there was so nice – she even stamped our post cards with the MK logo, so that the recipient would know it really came from Disney!
We ate at the food court that night. I had BBQ ribs and chicken with a side of mashed potatoes with gravy and corn – and a little square of corn bread. Sharon had a cheese steak with fries. I ate the ribs (they were really good, by the way). I also had the potatoes and half the corn… and didn’t eat the chicken. It looked good, but I was just tooooooo full!
What a fun day at MK…
The first pic is Crystal Palace. The next is Sharon with another "Dreaded Cupcake" (she didn't actually cry like she said she would, but you can see the smile is not genuine - LOL). Me with Tigger and Sharon with Eeyore (note that he is also on her shirt). The last one is Barbara from Harrisburg - I was so happy I got a pic of her!
