Taggin' Along Compliments of Disney! - Page 5 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Yay - you're staying at our favourite! And boy, does that vanilla milkshake look good to me!
I know!!! From what you've said about it I'm really excited!

I'll cross my fingers for you too. So did you end up getting your ice cream last night?

I definitely will take lots of pictures, but the only difference will be the rooms. You will get to stay in the beautifully newly refurbished rooms, while I will be in the not so new villas. But I will do my best to get every nook and cranny of that place.

My next choice of resorts to stay at one day is BC or BCV. I think when my little Josie gets bigger and maybe a bit more into Epcot, that will be a good choice for us.
So excited about your trip. Everything is sounding really great so far!!
[B] and !!! I would just love to stay at the Poly one day. Maybe if I save up enough of my points I will be able to one day. How old is your DD? She looks adorable. It also looks like you're going to be visiting WDW soon...and at the Poly too!!!B]

I used to live in MD and work in DC - and Baltimore's Inner Harbor was one of my favorite places for a weekend visit.
Can't wait to read more!
! I thought I would always get stuck staying at our home resort which is SSR...not a favorite of mine, but so far we've been able to visit other resorts. I'm very excited about it beause it allows you stay at places your normally wouldn't be able too. Good luck with your waitlist.
Where did you live in MD? I'm sure you've had the opportunity to visit our aquarium here right?

I've always wanted to stay at BC and I hopefuly will be able to do that one day but until then...bring on the pictures congrats!
I completely agree with you on the feeling of that style. The Poly is definitely my style as well. I will stay there one day...I swear! I never used to like Epcot when I was a kid, but as I've gotten older it's become near and dear to my heart, especially WS.

We had been to Beaches & Cream so many times before, but I had never gotten any type of dessert when I was there. I don't know what made me decide to order a milkshake, but I'm sooo glad I did. If I would have known it tasted that good I would have done it years ago.

Good luck with getting BCV. I'll let you know how it was. I'm sure it will live up to all of my expectations!

I think I'm just partial to AKV and VWL because of the all consuming design elements! Can't wait to read about your trip! Good luck scoring Concierge level at the AKV--there are only 5 studio rooms and very difficult to get! (I've gotten lucky twice so far and our first stay was just magical--second stay will be this April.)
Thanks! I've heard the hallways can be a bit much, but I'm hoping my great sense of direction will kick in and we'll be A-ok. My favorite resort is AKV! That's my parents home resort and I'm extremely jealous of them. And I'm also very jealous of you that you got to stay concierge level there not once, but twice!!!

I hope you get to stay there too, but it definitely is expensive. If it wasn't for our DVC points we would not be staying there at all. At least you can still enjoy a delicious meal at Beaches & Cream!

Beach Club is on our list. So what don't you like about Saratoga Springs? We thought it looked nice there and with the new pool being built, we were thinking of staying there if we go in the spring. But I would love to stay at Beach Club for the pool and closeness to Epcot and also AKL because its so relaxing and pretty! That milkshake looks so good, I can't believe we have never eated at B&C, not even dessert. There are always so many things that we miss or forget to try so my mom has already told me for our next trip to make a list of our must-do's!
Yes, that is the museum and I definately want to take Sam there when he can enjoy it.

Just a thought, you know you can add the park hopper option to your free tickets and I am pretty sure that if you used one day of the ticket, you could then go to customer service and just add the hopper option for the remaining day. Park hopping is an additional $54 per day per ticket, or you could just upgrade them to 3 day passes for around the same amount! Something to think about!!!

I worked in Silver Spring, lived in Germantown and Damascus and did visit the aquarium a few times.
Silver Spring is about 40 minutes from me and Germantown is a bit further since your heading into DC.

There are so many things I still haven't seen and I've been going to Disney since I was 5 years old! That's what I love about it. As for SSR, while it is a beautiful resort, to me the downfall is how large it is. We stayed in the Paddock area which I didn't like because it was such a walk to the Carriage House (where the food court and check-in area is), but when we stayed in the Grandstand area and it was so much better. Plus, IMHO the bus sytem needs some work at that resort.
Oh, and I don't think we can add the park hopper option to our tickets. The passes came with a letter that said we could't upgrade them since they were complimentary. It even says "complimentary" on the actual tickets, so I'm not sure if they would let me or not. I will still ask though because I would love to hop on over to another park while I'm there. Thanks for the tip.
Yea! BCV! You will love the walk to Epcot! We really liked staying there last December. I didn't use the pool, but DH did and enjoyed it. We loved trying B&C too! I'm sure someday we'll try to stay there again, especially if the boys love to swim.
I really hope your parents are able to secure club level at AKL for your next trip. You MUST do the Sunrise Safari if you get it - it's awesome and has no age limit so even Hope can go.
Hi Melissa. I am so glad I got to readyour PTR. You are goin. To have an amazing time just by the sound of your plans. I loveyour new Siggie Pic too. Just too adorible, and Hope looks like she's enjoying her Hope Sandwich kiss from her Mommy & Daddy. Congrats on getting BCV. Thatresortlooksbeautiful an SAB looks so inviting. I would loveto stay there one day too. BTW, Hope would probably love Port Discovery, especially thr room for children 4 and under. We're planning to take Skyler back there in November during Veteran's Day Weekend. I'm PM you after your trip and our's too about it. I still can't believe we'll be missing eachother in WDW by a few days. I'll waive to you from the plane as we fly over Orlando into our decent to Fort Lauderdale.

I wish I could enjoy that walk to Epcot a little bit more than I'm going to be able too, but oh well. I hope my parents get club level too! That will help save a little bit of money on the food as well since we can just go and enjoy the yummies they have to offer. I can't wait to read about it more in your TR.

Thanks! Definitely let me know when you're going to Port Discovery. If we're not doing anything maybe we can actually meet up this time. I didn't know they had a special room for children 4 and under...that's great! I'll be watching for your wave, but I wish we could have gotten to see each other while we were there. Maybe next time!

Can't wait to hear more!
Lurker or not I'm glad you're joining in! I love meeting new people and you can never have too many new friends!
