♥ ♥ Lovey Dovey in Disney! -- Our PTR for Dec 2010 - Page 5 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I'm so detailed in my planning that, I know, it's probably super duper ridiculous... and everything may not go as perfectly as planned once we get there (although I'm convinced it will still be perfect ). But that's okay! It's something that will help me get through the next 3 months, 1 week and 2 days. I'm sure a lot of you pre-trippers out there know what I mean.
Ready for some detailed daily plans? Here goes!
Arrival day -- Dec. 6th
So as you probably already know, in my scrapbook planner post, I mentioned breakfast at this place called The Lightner Museum. Let's dig a little deeper:
St. Augustine is (as some of you probably know already ) the nation's oldest city! This museum holds a sort of homage to that by showcasing a beautiful and historic collection of costumes, furnishings, and other things that were used daily during the 19th century. Doug is a history buff so I'm thinkin' if we go for more than just breakfast, he'll dig it for sure!
And remember Nights Of Lights? They decorate everything in sight with beautiful white lights. Here's another shot of the museum:
Pretty sweet, huh? -- I felt like a little kid seeing her very first Christmas tree ever when I saw this in 2008. I definitely reccommend taking a little nighttime adventure through St. augustine during the holidays, because whether you're a couple (it's such an incredibly romantic setting), have your children with you or are just passing through, stop to take it all in. I promise it'll add so much magic to your holiday.
Have any of you ever seen the Ripley's Believe It Or Not TV show? I love it! The Ripley Odditorium is even cooler! -- I don't wanna spoil anything here, but I will throw this in: Halloween is coming up! If you're planning a roadtrip that just so happens to swing you near, check it out! It has some of the oddest things you'll ever see. And not only that, they do have something called the Ghost Train Adventure. It's a train tour where the guide will tell you authentic tales of St. Augustine's haunted history while taking you through a route to do some of your own ghosty exploring! ..Hmm, why haven't we got this on our to-do list?
Okay moving on! After breakfast, of course there's the cute-as-a-button cupcake bakery, Luli's. Have you been to their site yet? Well then, All sweet tooth-havers and Cupcake lovers go there now!
...Seriously. Do it... I refuse to continue until you click on the little blue hyperlink.
...
...Did you do it?
Are you sure? 'Cause I'm being totally serious here. You must click it.
Okay awesome. ...Yeah. I know. It's amazing. They have a tiramisu cupcake labeled The Godfather, they have to be amazing. We'll be stopping by to pick up quite a few of these babies before our next stop.
Going to go ahead and skip the bit about Wally World, but to KMB733, I'm definitely adding Target to the list. Those Christmassy Dis window clings were absolutely adorable, there's no way I'm going to pass them up! -- If you guys have any other suggestions, please feel free to post 'em here!
A little FYI about my incredible DH2b and I. When we met, Titanic was the big thing. We were just kids at the time, mind you, but we made it ours. Every anniversary (august 14th ) we watch it together and ...actually, gonna throw this in there real quick. The Alaskan Disney Cruise? We want on it! ...Okay, I'm done. Sorry! ..Anywhos... we watch Titanic together on our special day every year and reminisce on the cutesy young love we shared and how it has grown to be the greatest love I could ever possibly imagine. All the 'Remember whens' and then I throw in a few dreamy sighs, and then the snuggles come and that is...when I need to get to the point. Gosh, I'm sorry you guys.
Titanic: The Experience! (lots of pics here) It's perfect right? They have fullscale replications of some of the most infamous parts of the Titanic, plus all kinds of interesting artifacts and treasures to check out. I'm so going to quote the movie a trillion and two times while we're there.
All that's left from here is driving. Gah, I'm bouncing in my seat just thinking about the anticipation of seeing The Polynesian for the first time! My patience of steel (yeah right!) will surely be caving at this point. How do you guys do it??
We're probably going to be doing the online check-in, we've heard a lot of good things about it. What are your experiences?
Once we arrive, we'll drop off our bags and head straight to Celebration for lunch and then Now Snowing.
Those of you heading to the World around the holidays, this is only a short 15-20 min. drive away. They have nightly "snow" falls each hour starting at 6 'o clock and ending after 9. There's Christmas carolers, a place to have pictures taken with santa, an ice rink and lots of little shops and eateries to dine at! -- Speaking of yums and nom's, I mentioned Uppercrust Pizza right? They serve up some pretty delicious-looking pizzas, paninis, calzones, salads, etc. This is where we'll be having our lunch!
I think I read somewhere that the people that live in Celebration like to compete in Chistmas-ing up their front lawns. -- I love this! When I was a little a girl my parents would take me out on Christmas Eve every year to look at all the houses lit up.
We have an 8:15 pm dinner ressie at 'Ohana so I'm thinking (just a feeling here!) we're either going to get back too early or quite close.
Tooearly: Do some resort sight-seeing and pic-taking! There's so many gorgeous things to see. The exotic plants and greenery, the beautiful beach, the smells I've heard so many wonderful stories about!
Quite close: Dive right in! I'm not much of a prissy pot, I can do my freshening up in the car!
Now, we're complete foodies. We love to munch and we're not ashamed of it. We have the ADR's to prove it! -- 'Ohana fans: What's your favorite thing about 'Ohana? Have any pics to share?
What DH2b and I are most looking forward to:
DH2b:
Spicy Grilled Peel - n - Eat Shrimp w/ pineapple sweet and sour sauce.
The bread pudding with bananas foster sauce.
Myself:
The pork and vegetable potstickers w/ pineapple sweet and sour sauce.
The bread pudding with bananas foster sauce.
From the Tambu lounge:
DH2b: The yummyful Pina Colava
Myself: The infamous Lapu Lapu
If you're having dinner during the time Wishes starts, is it normal to leave your table to go out to the beach to watch? Just curious!
After dinner, we plan to do some snugglin' on the beach before retiring to our room for the night. If it isn't too terribly late (or rather, if the Lapu Lapu doesn't get me completely silly) I wanna get right into putting up our tree and some of the decor!
So that's that! -- What are some of your first-day must-do's?

WOO! You get it done girl! After Doug proposed we started looking into romantic honeymoon spots. Paris, Ireland, maybe doing a cruise, and then we settled:
Btw, this book is such a great find! They include all of Italy's most romantic destinations plus the folklore behind it. Italian recipes, fun little facts on aphrodisiacs (I'm just sayin'!), suggestions on accommodations, restaurants, etc. -- It's a bit pricy at $24.95 (DH2b purchased this for me straight from Amazon, they dropped the price down to $21.33!)

Thanks much, xrosario! Just be careful! I become so excited about getting all crafty myself sometimes that the only thing I end up creating is destruction! -- I knocked over a big display of Halloween ribbon about 2 weeks ago.
