As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

We had a blast on Buzz especially Maddie who is at the age where she loves to shoot anything. Notice in this picture, however, how she is more enthralled with the spinner than with the shooter - - this will come back to haunt me later in the trip - - big time.
As soon as we hit the moving sidewalk, she bypassed the pictures and Zurg to go right to the heart of the matter . . . the store. She touched every item in the store, but I think she quickly realized that she owned about every thing already (the last to her collection was the Buzz Lightyear shooter that brought her) so she was soon ready to move on to . . . the kiosk outside.
Her eyes immediately fell upon the one item that she just had to have . . . Mrs. Potato Head. When I turned it over to see the price, I almost passed out . . . $7.95! My little girl had actually found something at Disney under $20! This had never happened before! Before she could change her mind, I whipped out the gift card that Ms. Heather had given her for Christmas and she proudly handed it to the CM. Oh how she loved her Mrs. Potato Head. Ms. Heather!
While we were somewhat in the neighborhood, we decided to give Barnstormer another look but unfortunately the line was still long. I suggested that we check on the wait time for the princesses, but once again, the line was way too long. Instead, Maddie decided to browse around the store and see how much she could touch. Mary Devall has never been much of a shopper, so it tickles me to see how much Maddie loves this extracurricular activity.
Thom called me while we were in the store to ask what we were doing for dinner because he and Mary Devall were hungry (actually I’m betting that he was just ). I reminded him that we were just going to grab something in the lounge and told him to go ahead and eat lunch. He really didn’t tell me what they had been up to (although I could have guessed), so Eileen had to fill me in later since he had been texting her.
When I heard the train whistle, I suggested to Maddie that we take the train. We skedaddled out of the store, grabbed her stroller and just made it. Riding the train has become one of the simple pleasures at MK that I find myself loving more and more.
We got off at Frontier Land and then made our way into Adventure Land to ride the Magic Carpets which had about a 20 minute wait. While we were waiting, I noticed that the Sunshine Tree Terrace was undergoing a renovation which sadly meant no latte floats for me (and my coffee loving little girl).
Before we knew it, we were boarding our magic carpet. I let Maddie completely take the reins by herself and she absolutely loved being in control of our fate. Thankfully, she was kind and kept us out of the aim of the spitting camel (although I believe this was more luck than anything ).
Our FP for BTMRR (a.k.a. Test Track ) was finally ripe, so we headed back to Frontier Land but were waylaid by the short volunteer parade that precedes the main parade. A CM let us sneak across the road between the two parades, so we were soon on the wildest ride in the west.
Okay . . . this turned out to literally be the wildest ride because I had one arm around Maddie and one leg across her legs and one arm holding on to the bag with the Mrs. Potato Head. And Maddie had a clinch on the back of my shirt like I have never known. At times, I thought either she, Mrs. Potato Head or my shirt was going to fly out of the car. No offense to Mrs. Potato Head, but I was praying that it wasn’t Maddie or my shirt. Let’s just say that I was thrilled when we all made it back to the station in one piece.
After that harrowing experience, Maddie and I were ready for a snack. Luckily, the popcorn stand is right near the exit of BTMRR so we were soon holding an overflowing bucket of . Maddie decided that she wanted to relax while eating her snack and declared that she knew the perfect place - - a set of steps to the right of the Briar Patch. I couldn’t help but think of the mosey challenge when she plopped down on a step as if she didn’t have a care in the world. Miss Kawron had better stick with big sister for her next MK challenge.
Maddie and I decided that it was time to go back to the hotel and check into our room especially since we were coming back this evening with Thom and Mary Devall. I headed out through Adventure Land and found myself bobbing and weaving through the crowds. Just as Maddie and I hit the bridge out of Adventure Land, someone called after me and told me that Maddie had dropped the lid to her bucket of popcorn. Before I could go back to grab it, an older woman handed it to me and confessed that she had been following me since I had a good pace going and knew how to get through the crowds. Why did this thrill me so much?
We chatted a bit longer and she told me that she had been at Disney all week, but this was the first day that there had been any crowds. We both agreed that the difference seemed to be the local factor.
The crowds lessened on Main Street, so Maddie and I were soon almost to the resort monorail ramp when I heard my name called. When I looked up, I saw a lady who immediately introduced herself as WHMom (a.k.a Heather) from Passporter. About the time she told me who she was, I recognized her from her pictures. We chatted for a bit before saying goodbye. She was every bit as sweet as she is on the boards and I was so happy to finally meet her. We confided in each other later that we had immediately texted Eileen and Danielle respectively about meeting the other!

What fun! I'm so jealous that when you take a train, you end up in Disney World and when I take a train, I end up at work! Sorry about the crowds, but it didn't seem to slow you down much. And I have to say that I never get tired of seeing photos of your little smiley girl. Glad you all stayed in the ride at BTMRR. Although, had Mrs. Potato Head gone flying, it may have provided some amusement to someone sharing my twisted sense of humor.
