2010 TR 1/29-2/05~~Mom's Dream Came True!! - Page 5 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Great TR so far! Seeing how you son grew in 2 years has me thinking! My son will be almost 12 when we go this June. I can't imagine him looking like a "grown up boy" in 2 short years!
I am glad you are getting a chance to write now that all the snow hit. We live in one of the snowiest areas of the US (Upstate NY) with Lake-effect snow off of Lake Ontario/Erie and have had very little this year.
The CBR looks beautiful! Keep the TR it coming and stay safe with all the snow~
If you ever get the chance to travel with both boys again....make sure you take an Aerobed with you. Then they don't have to share a double; they can take turns on the bed or the mattress.
With a teen boy and a teen girl, the Aerobed has become a travel must for us.

Good idea! You know, I really didn't even think about the bed situation being a problem. They have bunked together on many an occasion and it never was an issue. But I guess that was usually just for a night or two, not a week or more!!! They actully did sleep good though once they fell asleep, and then when Peter & I got up one of them would move to our bed. They slept in every morning except for travel days!
Great time at Magic Kingdom!
Looking forward to more....

I think those are the years when I saw the biggest change in my boys!! One day they were little boys, the next day, young men. In a way, it makes me sad how fast it has gone by, but in other ways I really enjoy the young adults they have become (sometimes not so much-raising teenagers can be brutal!)
Nathan is home from school again today. The weather is much better, but the roads are a mess. Who knows when they will make up all the snow days!

The kids just seem to love the snow day when they are happening. Until the end of the year, when they are sweating bullits in school. "making up" the snow days!
Snow White & the 7 dwarfs were at MNSSHP when we were there in Sept '08.
I have to laugh when you wrote about your sons' reaction to taking food pictures. My family is the same way and I do the same thing you did. Ignored them and kept taking the pictures.
I woke up around 7:30 a.m. & jumped in the shower. I had hopes of opening our park of the day…Animal Kingdom.
This didn’t end up happening today. When Peter woke up, he decided he needed a dip in the hot tub to get rid of his achy, tired from driving so many hours muscles. So, we headed to the pool area where he would soak for an hour! I didn’t want to get in because (a.) I had just showered & gotten ready for the day & didn’t want to do it over again & (b.) it was too early in the morning to strip down to a bathing suit! (Remember I skipped the tanning bed this year). So, I just sat by the pool & relaxed. Two ladies (who didn’t mind stripping down that early in the morning) got in the hot tub with Peter. We had a really good conversation (but I kept giggling to myself when they were telling me about all the things we could do while at Disney). If they could only see my notebook & journal full of Disney information back at the room (thanks again PP!!)
The main pool area is great!
Great main pool, kiddie pool, and 2 hot tubs (one next to main pool & the other more private one farther back). We had a quiet pool near our section but it didn’t have a hot tub. I would have gotten in more if there had been one closer by.
We got back to our room at 9:40 & Nathan was already dressed & out in the courtyard with his football. We got Logan up and had a quick breakfast of blueberry muffins, Pop-Tarts, juice, & coffee for Logan (the only coffee drinker in our family).
We headed to the bus stop and an AK bus pulled right up, so no wait. We got to the park at 10:40 and headed over to get FPs for EE, stopping along the way to get a picture or two.
We got to EE & saw there was no need for FPs, as the wait time was only 20 mins. (and ended up being only 5-10 mins.) Peter waited for the 3 of us to ride- AWESOME RIDE!! We finally got to ride the entire ride (remember we got stuck last trip).

We got off the ride and Peter & I headed over to Flame Tree BBQ to get lunch. All the while, I am searching for DeVine.
The boys weren't hungry yet, so they headed off to do something alone. Lunch was yummy-as remembered.
I got the pork sandwich w/baked beans, diet coke, & Key Lime Pie. Peter got the ribs w/baked beans & cole slaw, lemonade, & chocolate mousse. Total: $32.53 (2 CS credits). After lunch, we met the boys in front of KS. Logan hadn’t been on the safari before, so I was anxious for him to go. We saw lots of animals today, more than we saw last trip, and Logan loved it!
After KS, we went to
this guy would not smile for the camera!!!
I like this picture of Logan...
After this, we split up again. Peter & I took the train to RPW, which was new to us.
During the train ride, our conductor told us that there were 40+ HM on the mural of animals as you enter the main building at RPW.
I had been thinking about picking up a HM book during our trip, so I thought why not try to find a few while there. Peter & I really got into this, and found 6 after looking for a few minutes. I’m posting 4 of them, but if you don’t want to see them, just skip the next few pictures.
