A WDW/DCL Sammich with a Side of Mom PTR! - Page 5 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Great PTR so far! Glad to hear there were studios left at AKL in March..Hope that's the case somewhere in the 'world' when we finally get to book our very 1st DVC trip sometime this millenium, lol:O)
Also very glad to hear you got switched over to another resort you wanted to try:O) Wish I could give you an opinion on it, but have never stayed there, myself.
I think its really awesome that you get to bring your mom with you on your trip! I wish my grandparents were able to accompany my family on our WDW trips so bad! They were the ones who always took me as a child and kind of introduced that spark for Disney...ive been hooked ever since & now have my DH & children hooked as well. DH was really difficult to bring over to the magic (try 5 years), but after one trip in '09, he's as hooked as I am!
I'm also sorry you're friends had to bail! Thats very kind of you to offer getting A 2 BR on your points so your friends could come enjoy the magic, too!
Glad to hear of your add-on already, LOL:O) Also was impressed to find you obtained a concierge stay for some of your trip for a little while there:O) Too bad that they couldnt gaurantee a savannah room:O( Maybe next time!!
We are planning a MNSSHP time while there in Oct. as well. probably 10/3 or 10/7
Congrats on BWV! We haven't tried there yet, but we will one day.
You should definitely try it some time! We actually didn't think we'd like it but decided to stay for the wedding because it was basically right there (Sea Breeze Point) and we ended up LOVING it.

Thanks for reading along! And all the words of encouragement and support!
I'm planning on getting our MNSSHP tix this weekend or next the latest! I hope they don't sell out for the 28th by then!
Ok, so I've realized I haven't updated this in quite some time! oops. Sorry! I have made all of our ADR's and really figured out our schedule now (hopefully there won't be any more changes!). I am now hopefully also going to surprise DH with the Wishes DP on Monday Oct. 4. I have to book it still though! I hope to do that also either this weekend or next and then in June I'll get my mom her park ticket via Undercover Tourist and earn a couple of Sunshine Reward dollars at the same time! As of now, I'm over $107 on SR's and have almost 3 more months to work on earning $ before I have to cash out for the trip.
I have also bought about $300 in Disney Gift Cards and DIL's just gave us some $ which we are going to use for our shore excursions on the cruise.
I've also finally decided we're going to do the Catamaran Snorkel in Nassau (unless someone here tells me it sucks!) LOL and on Castaway Cay we're going parasailing and doing the stingray adventure thngy. I figure that's enough!
I have set up a meet in EPCOT with PPers for Wednesday Oct. 6th. and have a number of peeps to meet up with while we're there as well (old college roomate, fellow Disney brides and also hopefully some other PPers - Hi Becki!- who can't make it to the meetup on the 6th).
That's it for now I think....next post will be our ADR's!

Ok, here are our ADR's. I booked them on-line for the first time which was interesting to say the least. I actually miss talking to a CM and doing them on the phone.
I pretty much got whatever we wanted except for the night we're eating dinner at Yachtsman, I had trouble with the time...
Here goes:
We arrive on Saturday Sept. 25th and will be having dinner at:
BOMA. My mom has never been to BOMA. A 1st for her!
The next day:
Breakfast at Akershus (again a 1st for my mom who has never eaten with the princesses before!) tee hee.
Dinner at Sanaa. Another 1st for mom. DH LOVES Indian food. We enjoyed it there the last time we went.
Monday Sept. 27
Breakfast at BOMA. yummy!!!!!
Dinner will be at Jiko as we're surprising my mom with the Wanyama Safari! sshhh....
Tuesday Sept. 28
Breakfast at Chef Mickey. Another 1st for my mom!
Dinner at 1900 Park Fare. Yet ANOTHER 1st for mom! I know she'll love this one! We had so much fun here the last time!
Wednesday Sept. 29
Breakfast at Crystal Palace (a tradition. It's a must every trip, so my mom has been here many times) But all three of us LOVE it.
Lunch at Kona Cafe. Yummy!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mom has never been here and I can't wait to bring her into the Poly and hear her say...."Oh yeah, I remember it here". My parents and DB went to the Luau back in '77 and my mom and I went again I think on the trip in '97 but she hasn't been back since. I think my mom is like me and gets all sentimental remembering our trip back in '77 (The only one I got to go with my dad interestingly and sadly enough)
Dinner at Artist Point. The reason for this whole trip! LOL (well, kind of!) My mom has never been and we've been here twice and we LOVE it!!!
After DH and I cruise for 3 nights, it's back to WDW....
Sunday, Oct. 3
Lunch at Rose and Crown. He's never been and after he saw they have Scotch Eggs on the menu, he is really looking forward to it. I have not eaten at Rose and Crown since '87!
Dinner in Morocco (a tradition for us)
Monday Oct. 4
Breakfast at Cape May Cafe. (Now that we switched this stay to BWV, I figured we'd eat there again. We really enjoyed it the last time!
Lunch at Biergarten. Another tradition.
Dinner at San Angel Inn. Another tradition. We LOVE it here!
Tuesday Oct. 5
The only ADR we have is lunch at Brown Derby. We're going to do F&WF for dinner (noshing) and probably just do BoardWalk Bakery for brekfast.
Wednesday Oct. 6
Breakfast at Tusker House (YUM!)
Dinner at Chefs de France (I haven't eaten here since '87 and for DH it will be a first!)
Thursday Oct. 7
Breakfast at O'hana. YUMMY! And Stitch!!!
Dinner at Yachtsman Steakhouse (Our fave steak place so far, and yes, we've been to Le Cellier - were not impressed-sorry!)
Friday Oct. 8
Breakfast at Kona Cafe because I gotta get my Macadamia Pineapple Pancakes!
Ok, that's it for now! Thanks for reading everybody! I'll be back soon with more updates!
We're only like 4 1/2 months out now! Whooo hooo!!!!!!!

Hey girl!
Your ADR's look delish. I am jealous I can't be there at the same time. I don't have anything even planned. I am hoping to go the week after Thanksgiving, but it is still up in the air. I am looking for a new job and the parents aren't quite sure what is going on with them so it is just wait and see.
It won't be much longer now, as fast as these past 5 months have gone 4&1/2 shouldn't take long either.
Liz-
Awww....Liz! When are you going for Christmas? We are going for another 5 nights in Jan (the 6th - 11th). Will you happen to be there then? (I'm thinking not though...).
Sigh. I am bummed because I remember you mentioning that you were hopeful about the fall and maybe Jan '11 (if I'm remembering correctly).
Good point about the time going by and you're right! So thanks! You just made my day!

Your ADRs sound great!! Very yummy!
I'm lokoing forward to trying some of those macadamia nut pancakes for the 1st time in about 3 months!! (I bet those aren't part of a diet we should be having. )

Right now we are looking at Nov 26-Dec 3, give or take a day. But if I happen to get another job pretty quick we may have to wait a little. Jan might end up being better. I will definitely keep you posted. I really want to go and see the Christmas decorations again. I am dying to see the Castle and Osbourne Lights.
It's kind of bumming me out that there are only a handful of restaurants we can bring my mom to because it's only a 5 night trip but I did my best at picking out some of our faves that I think she'd like that she hasn't tried before.
I'll be buying our MNSSHP tix on Friday and until then I'll keep my fingers crossed that they don't sell out for the day we are planning on!
I don't think I have much other news for now. I'm actually (don't laugh!) stressed out about the Cruise!
