Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

to Curt Schilling for helping us win a World Series. I will most certainly miss watching him play, but will carry fond memories of him in a Red Sox uniform as I look at my picture of him in my room every night Hope he has a restful retirement. I don't think any of us will forget him and that bloody sock to help us win a World Series

Curt Schilling will definitely be missed! I didn't always agree with some of his (non-sports) views off the field, but he certainly was a class act on the field! And, the bloody sock story will always go down as one of the most climatic stories in Red Sox history! I'll miss watching him walk on and off the field too - he always used to crack me up when he stepped over the foul line!

Meant to post this yesterday - Red Sox freeze concession prices and introduces 'Fenway Family Hour'

Highlights - 'starting 9' food items at a 50% discount and 'substantial' discounts at the Yawkey Way Store the 1st hour after the gates open. And, opportunities to interact with players or coaches (photo session) the 1st half hour after Red Sox batting practice.

9 days, 15 hours and 16 minutes!

I really hope that this will allow more families to enjoy a game together without having to go into debt! My grandsons would love to attend a game but as a family of four the cost was always ridiculous. Maybe this will be the year they will finally be able to go.
Here's to another winning season!

I hear you on that one. I think the last game we went to with my dad and there were 5 of us who went, he probably spent a couple hundred on food (and this was for Fenway Franks, Pizza, Ice Cream, soft drinks/bottled water, frozen lemonades, and then of course DLilBro having to get a couple souvaniers, and we can't forget 2 programs, and parking. It does all add up, not to mention what you pay for seats at Fenway Park.

DH and I tried to go last summer when we were in town for my sister's wedding and he wanted the seats near the Pesky Pole. I think we made the smarter choice however DLilBro felt upset the 2 of us didn't take him to a game, and instead bought him a Autographed Jon Lester Picture from his no hitter with the money that was going to go toward all of our tickets instead (we were expecting more people to come with and just never told us how many tickets to buy and who else wanted to see a game).

I couldn't have even imagined how much we would have spent on food, even if it was just DH, DLilBro, & I. At least the Red Sox Organization is realizing in difficult financial times that lowering the cost of some concession food or keeping it the same instead of raising the price will hopefully keep them filling up the stands every game.

A Day at Champion's Field- Braves vs. Red Sox

Mom and I bought our tickets the day the tickets went on sale. The BEST available at 10:00:39 was in the Bleacher Section 104 Row T seats 5 & 6. It was on the first base line and it was better then NO tickets so we bought them right away.

Now we had to wait weeks ok more like over a month almost two months. We survived and this morning we were up bright and early excited for our Red Sox game. The weather was going to be Sunny and about 80ºF.

We drove over to the Wide World of Sports it was about 11:15 am and the game was at 1:05 and it was already PACKED there. We found a parking space and made our way into the field.

Now this is supposed to be the home field for the Atlanta Braves but let me tell ya it was like 10 Red Sox Fans to 1 Atlanta Fan Gee I wonder who has a bigger fan base! Go Red Sox!

Well we did run into a Couple who seem to be disagreeing who "their" team is...

They were really nice, and were ok with us taking a photo of their "disagreement"

We did look around the complex a little bit before going inside for the game. It was a nice complex and I can see why teams come to WDW for their tournaments. Since this is a Red Sox report and not a WWoS report I will share the link to my photos at the end of this report so you can see the ones that didn't make the cut here!

After our look around we went in to the bag check area, then on into the stadium. It was not overly huge but big enough. We were close to our section so we took time to look around and take some photos.

Once we made it out to the field we were rewarded as the Sox were warming up

So once warm ups were done it was time for the Ceremonial First Pitch...

Yep Folks remember this is DISNEY after all I think the Sox need to kick the Braves out and move into WWoS for Spring Training ...Hey Red Sox Lady can you get on that for me Yes DYAN I mean YOU!

Ok so now it was time for the baseball game to start Lets Go Sox!

First I was very UPSET as Varitek wasn't Catching... but Pedroia, Lowell, and Matsuzaka, YOUKilis, Bay and well the Red Sox in general so its ok. But I was sad.

Now I won't go Inning by Inning, needless to say it was a slow game, low score, but even being AHEAD 3-2 and only needing 1 STRIKE to win it...well They LOST and that was a bummer. BUT I had a blast so it was all GOOD!

Here are some shots of the game...
Pedroia the Destroy-a

During the National Anthem (glad I can look and sing with one hand )

YOOOUUK-

Bay

There are a ton more of photos and if you would like to see more please feel free to visit my Album on Smug Mug...
iamgrumpy : photos : Red Sox Spring Training 2009- powered by SmugMug

But can you see the Disney Touch (might be faint but its there )

I hope you Enjoy this report we had a blast and it was soooo much fun even if I didn't get to see Varitek or see them Win.... We have all season to ENJOY them WINNING!

Go SOX!

Looks like you had an awesome day!! all the photos! And, as much as I would like to, I cannot help with the Red Sox moving into WWoS. They extended their contract with the City of Palms Park (for another 5 years, I think)

so much for sharing your photos!
