The Prince Charming has met his match trip report - 8/23 - 9/1 at Pop - UPDATED 9/21 - Final installment - Page 5 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

What a great update Brent...love the pictures of you and the kids at Epcot (you do make a great looking family). The afternoon just relaxing at the pool sounded wonderful...I have often thought that I can already see my retirement living in Florida and being a PP photographer or something like that and I will not miss snow at all...(everyone laughs at me at work as once the temprature dips below 80 I am cold....yes I am probably the only person stepping out on a nice Fall day in NY with a sweater zipped to my neck in 79 degree weather).
Golad you got to see your favorite "princess" at dinner....can't wait to read your final installment.

I am sure you probably ALL heard me screaming when I woke up!! Even those of you who are across international lines!!! LOL Funny thing was as I was screaming I pulled the blankets over my head, ......what was that going to solve. Then I realized ...hhmmm, I am screaming, he isn't moving.....I smell a rat. (or skunk as the case may be!!)
Alas, so was Prince Charming. L He did seem like a very nice young man though. He was obviously intimidated by me, I could tell!
UUummmm, ok, sure, whatever you say dear! He was trembleing in his royal boots! LOL.....why don't you share your insight on what he was thinking when he posed with me.....something about college........???
We just didn’t really get into the whole vibe of the dinner this night.
Thats just because we weren't there!
After it was over my kids actually did not want to come back with Smilechaser and the girls a few days later.
Should my feelings be hurt here.....that sounds kinda bad on my partsniff sniff.......
(But boy was I glad we did! You’ll see!)
Yeah, honestly, all kidding aside, the best night of the trip!
She even spun my Cinderella necklace around so it was on my back so she didn't have to look at it, or was she trying to choke me? look at my neck!
My money is on choking you! ....I mean....."oh Brent, you poor thing! I hope you were ok!!!!" LOL

Saturday August 30, 2008 Magic Kingdom Breakfast at the Castle!
This is a morning I had been looking forward to all trip, Breakfast at Cinderella’s Castle! (I bet none of you could have guessed that!) I woke especially early this morning and made my usual ritual to the Food Court with Mug in hand. I swear the birds were singing just a little happier this morning! Came back to our room, woke up the two kids and we were off. Drove to the TTC and hopped a monorail to MK. I swear I love the mornings at MK. I think it’s worth it to eat an early breakfast at the castle just to get in early and walk down Main Street with just a few other people around. Truly a fantastic time. Here is a picture of the castle with nobody around. Feels like you have the whole thing all to yourself!
Another thing about early morning reservations is you have virtually no wait! We got right in to see Cinderella. Here is our picture with my #1 lady:
The usual princesses were there. It was great to see Snow White again. Had a great breakfast. Brendan loved the French Toast sticks:
Here is me and Snow White who is quickly becoming my #2 lady! Shh Don't tell Cindy!
After breakfast it was on to enjoy the rest of the Magic Kingdom. We stopped and saw some attractions we usually miss. The Tiki Room. Hall of Presidents, Jungle Cruise. Had to do Haunted Mansion again. Love that ride. By now it was time for a Dole Whip, in the rain. We had some of our best photo pass pictures on this day as well:
Hit Space Mountain one more time as it is rumored it might be down next year f
or a lengthy rehab. Another good day! After that it was back to the resort for some pool time and going to the arcade.
Sunday August 31
Out last full day as we were leaving on a morning flight the next day. Slept a little late and did some packing in preparation for our departure the next day. One thing we had not done yet was World Showcase so we made our way to Epcot. Had to do one more ride on Spaceship Earth and Mission Space on our way to World Showcase though. Slowly made our way around the world just taking our time enjoying ourselves, trying to make the day last as long as we could because our vacation was almost over.
Slowly made our way back to the gate and headed back to the resort to meet up with Smilechaser and the girls for our last night dinner together at 1900 park Fare. A little history here: This dinner darn near didn’t even happen. Smilechaser has had some trouble in the past appreciating Cinderella because of her beauty, charm, and elegance, and was originally looking forward to enjoying the evening cavorting with the step mother and sisters in a glorius round of Cinderella bashing! Now any of you who know me, or have been reading this trip report will certainly understand that I would not stand for that! So we originally made separate reservations. Then one fateful day at her job as a nurse, Smilechaser was confronted by a very young, very adorable little girl. She saw something Smilechaser was wearing that was from Disney and the little girl’s eyes lit up with wonder and she asked Smilechaser if “she had really seen where Cinderella lives??? Have you really met her!!!! Tell me about it!!!” This gave even Smile chaser a lump in her throat, and she finally came around to my side on Cinderella. (Although she STILL has some rather noticeable and problematic relapses on which I am quick to correct her and remind her of that precious little girl) Anyway on with dinner!
It started with a very rude parking lot attendant. If you ever go to the Grand Floridian for dinner. Don’t drive! Take a bus to MK and catch the Monorail. The parking lot is a mess and isn’t marked very well. (Actually it is marked very well, except for when the sign designating a lot is for cast members only isn’t knocked over so you can’t see it!) With this nasty little event over we made it inside with not a moment too soon. We were seated right away. My expectations for the evening were quite low at this point. The little incident in the parking lot combined with not knowing for sure how Smilechaser would handle a dinner with Cinderella, and our ‘not great’ experience here a few nights earlier really did not have me expecting much more than a nice meal. Boy was I wrong! And we all had my beloved Cinderella to thank for that!!! I was wearing a shirt that read “Cinderella for President in 2008”, and as luck would have it Cinderella was just finishing up greeting some people at the table we were being seated at. She looked up, saw my shirt, and squealed. Her face absolutely lit up and she immediately thanked me and we chatted about who would be her running mate. We decided Jasmine would Pilot Air Force one as she had experience flying a magic carpet already. Through the conversation she discovered the devotion I had for her and she was truly grateful! When we finally were able to sit down I was grinning ear to ear! Probably had a bigger smile on my face than my son did when I let him run around in the rain without a poncho earlier in our trip. Smilechaser couldn’t believe it.
Then a few minutes later the wicked stepmother shows up. Hooo boy! Here we go. She looks at me and orders me to stand so I can look at your shirt! I did and she gives me a Hmmph! , and starts saying something but I really wasn’t paying attention because out of the corner of my eye I see my beloved Cinderella running our way, smiling ear to ear with a rather reluctant Prince Charming in tow. She brought him over to see my shirt. So naturally when I see her coming I interrupt the Step mother and say “Excuse me, I need to see this young lady over here”, and turn away from her and meet Cinderella again. She looks genuinely upset, doesn’t she??
Guess it’s not a good idea to snub her, is it?? Smilechaser got along much better with her:
Anyway Cinderella shows her Prince my shirt and mentions something about how thoughtful it was. Princey could tell he was truly outclassed here. Us guys just know it when that happens. We just do. The kids join in the fun then. The stepsisters visit was a hoot as well. They try to ridicule my shirt but every time they do, Cinderella brings someone back to look at my shirt. Later in when Princey comes to visit our table he pulls me aside and tells me : Hey look man: Cinderella’s really impressed with you and your shirt. I need you to help me out here. I need to know where you got it so I can get some for her stepsisters and stepmother to wear so I can impress her too. My reply? Sorry Princey! I can’t reveal my secrets here, can I? He did shake my hand though when I told him to relax, we were leaving for home in the morning so I won’t be any competition for him past tonight. That put him back in better Spirits.
My two favorite Princesses:
At least she's not trying to choke me this time:
I do believe Smilechaser gained a newfound respect for Cinderella this evening. She appears to in this picture:
As we were getting ready to leave, Cinderella saw us getting up and walked by one more time telling us how much she appreciated me (did she say me or us, I can’t remember) coming tonight. One last smile (Smilechaser says it was a wink.) and our dinner had come to a close. There seemed to be some confusion with our dining plan credits though as they had my card a lot longer than Smilechaser’s. It was simply a mixup in the child and adult dining credits they had to straighten out, no matter what Smilechaser claims it was!!
Anyway after that Smilechaser and girls went to a pass porter meet n greet at MK, and as for how myself and the kids spent the rest of the evening? Well I don’t have to tell you everything we did in this trip report, do I? J
The evening’s dinner was truly a magical ending to a magical vacation. I hope I did it justice in this trip report. This dinner was the best character dinner any of us had ever had. My girl Cinderella was spectacular! She was one of those special cast members who truly loved what she was doing, and was going above and beyond the call of duty to make sure the guests were having a magical time. She just made you feel glad to just simply get a whiff of the perfumed air she floats around on! Sighhhhh.. Isn’t she wonderful!! (This is the point where Smilechaser is gaaacking I’m sure!)
Next morning it was early up and to the airport and the flight home. Thanks for a great time, Disney World. We’ll see you next year same time! And Look out Prince Charming, I’m coming back next year!!
Hope you all have had as much fun reading this trip report as I have writing it. It brought back a lot of great memories.
Brent

#1, #2...for Heavens sake!! Can I at least be #3? LOL
Smilechaser has had some trouble in the past appreciating Cinderella because of her beauty, charm, and elegance, and was originally looking forward to enjoying the evening cavorting with the step mother and sisters in a glorius round of Cinderella bashing!
Gotta love those sisters and step mommy!!
Then one fateful day at her job as a nurse, Smilechaser was confronted by a very young, very adorable little girl. Ok, Ok....Brent, make me look soft to everyone! Geeze, I had a cold that day, my eyes were watery! Seriously...kinda changed my thinking.
The little incident in the parking lot combined with not knowing for sure how Smilechaser would handle a dinner with Cinderella,
With Grace and Elegance like I handle every situation!
So naturally when I see her coming I interrupt the Step mother and say “Excuse me, I need to see this young lady over here”, and turn away from her and meet Cinderella again. She looks genuinely upset, doesn’t she??Guess it’s not a good idea to snub her, is it??
I honestly believe she was a little upset, I don't think she is used to that!
Smilechaser got along much better with her:
We're tight like that, we go way back!
I do believe Smilechaser gained a newfound respect for Cinderella this evening. She appears to in this picture:
Alright...I did!!! Cinderella was honestly at her all time best this dinner, I was even a little bit overcome with that magical feeling.
One last smile (Smilechaser says it was a wink.) and our dinner had come to a close.
A wink, some drool and security dragging you away from her feet! LOL
There seemed to be some confusion with our dining plan credits though as they had my card a lot longer than Smilechaser’s. It was simply a mixup in the child and adult dining credits they had to straighten out, no matter what Smilechaser claims it was!!
Ahhhh Brent, it wasn't how long they had our cards in comparision. It was who we gave them to.....see, I handed mine to THE WAITRESS.....I don't think you are supposed to slip it in Cinderella's glove!!!
The evening’s dinner was truly a magical ending to a magical vacation.
I AGREE! It was magical! I love the part where the evil sister snarled at Brendan and he hid under the table! Too Funny!
She just made you feel glad to just simply get a whiff of the perfumed air she floats around on! Sighhhhh.. Isn’t she wonderful!! (This is the point where Smilechaser is gaaacking I’m sure!)
I was sooooo gaaaacking long ago, this only reinforced the projectile force of the gaaaacking.
Next morning it was early up and to the airport and the flight home.
Evidenlty not as early for you as us....we were already boarding by time you strolled up to the terminal! Didn't have anything to do with the room key and the skipping out of the meet and greet after dinner, did it!?
Hope you all have had as much fun reading this trip report as I have writing it. It brought back a lot of great memories. This was great! I totally loved reliveing the trip! I can't wait til next year! Heck, your TR was so great that I just abonded mine!!! Actually I really believed that you should have the glory of telling the story of the last night...it was sooo your night to shine!

Once again you've got it all wrong, Smilechaser. Cindy took the card from me, I didn't slip it in her glove. She was just trying to help out the busy waittress. She IS thoughtful that way, isn;t she? Always trying to help others. Siiighhh Isn't she wonderful??? Again, it just makes you feel lucky just to get to breathe the perfumed air she floats around on.

That's right! I totally forgot to include that. The boy was getting into it prettt well, wasn't he. Druzilla would walk by on her way to another table and Brendan would see her coming and say Oh No! and duck under the table. Druzilla made a face and screamed back at him. Good Times!!!!

Some things are better off if they are just left to be mysterious, aren't they Smilechaser? And besides, you probably don't want to know the answer to that question anyway . . . We made it on the plane in time though, didn't we?
I honestly can't see how next years vacation is going to top this one, but I can't wait to try!
Brent
Out of the whole trip though I think my favorite memory is off my daughter Jordan with the smile on her face, sporting the lipstick from Ariels kiss on her cheek. Sure this trip had many things that were a lot of fun for me, but the look in my daughter's eyes at that moment was truly magic, and that's what this is all about anyway, right?
Thank you so much for sharing your story! I your TR, and can honestly say you definitely did your trip justice. As silly as it sounds, I felt like I was there with you and really felt the love you have for your family and the friendship you have with Smilechaser. Your pictures tell the whole story! You know, I'm pretty sure if Cinderella were running for President she would be right up there in votes with the big boys! I'm already looking forward to your TR from your bounce back (no pressure )!
