Our Disney Vacation with Fay and the Crab Assasins - COMPLETE!! - UPDATED 9/16 - Page 5 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Ok, so we had a wonderful day so far on Sunday the 17th. Discovery hidden Mickey's around the lodge, swimming in the pool, boating etc. A real recharge for us. But in the middle of all this relaxing, I have had one eye on that weather channel.
When we arrived in Florida we heard the Fay had just become a tropical storm somewhere out by the bahamas. But that it was supposed to weaken over cuba and enter the gulf. Today however, it had hit cuba, missed Key West, and was about to run aground near Naples. All the time gathering strength. In Fact, they were saying it was expected to become a hurricane, OFF COURSE IT WAS! Then that evening I heard that after it hit the coast it woud then most likely run inland. OF COURSE IT WOULD! So no longer are we looking at some periferal rain, but in fact a possible direct hit at Disney! Ok, so we get some rain, right, but then on Tuesday we go to Disney's Vero beach resort on the Atlantic side, and no troubles. It will all be good. Worry over, move on. Remember this moment for later!!!! After blow drying DD9s really long hair, and getting her ready to go, I realize that while kids are with the Grandparents, they will need to get their meal plan info, and niether of them has charging priveledges. OOPs. So I hurry down to the desk to make what I thought would be an easy change. Well, it was more complicated than I thought, and I got a new CM who had to get another cm to help. In the end, new card printed, DS11 can now charge kids meals to Dining plan, all is good. Off they go to MK, via a tour of GF and Contemp. then Monorail to MK where they had a 5pm ADR for Crystal Palace. Kids and Tigger.jpgMy MOm and Pooh.jpg

They had a great time, and a wonderful buffet. They rode lots of rides including HM, Snow White, POC again, Splash M. ThunderM., Pooh, and more. They also got a good spot in front of the castle this time for wishes! Soon after they headed back to the WL where they enjoyed some room time and went to bed early. MEANWHILE . . . . . Hubby and I enjoyed some room time after they left for MK. Then got ready for our evening out.8pm ressie at Narcoosees. We went to Narcoosees via the resort boat that runs between FW, Cont, WL. We took it to contemporary, so DH could see it, but it was all under construction, so kinda ugly. Hopped on Monorail, hubby's first time, and headed for GF. Once there, it was a long walk to Narcoosees, which is out by the boat dock. Next time we will take boat to MK, and then another boat to GF. But we arrived, and hubby went to the bar to get something for me to drink. A nice cm took our picture on the veranda.
We went in for dinner, and had a nice seat across from the windows. Service was great. John had the bisq, and I had the crab cakes for App. {I told you they were awsome, Karen!!} which were wonderful. The crackers or bread is also amazing with the rocca blue cheese spread! We split a salad with rocca, and then for our entrees, I had the scallops, my favorite seafood, and hubby had Ahi Tuna. Both were delicious, I highly recomend the scallops, they were so well prepared, hot but not a bit of that rubber feel you get when they are overcooked. Juicy and delicious. Crap, now I am making myself hungry! For desert we ordered their pressed coffe and split the chocolate cake thing. I can't remember the name. During this time we were watching the ELP float by. NIce. Then right after we got our coffee and desert, like perfect timing, they started to dim the lights, and announce that wishes was about to start. It was cute, the CMs went to the doors and held them open for the many people who left their tables to go outside and watch. I told our server, " we will be back, he said, of course, that is what you are supposed to do. So we took our coffee and went out for a terrific view of the fireworks, and since they pipe in the music and all to narcoosees, it was really cool. and no crowds. We stood in front of a beam between windows, so as not to obstruct the view of the folks still inside. Very nice, and romantic. After we took care of the check and tip. It was off to the boat below, to head over to meet my passporter friends!! Little did we know gremlins were at work in the World!!!
Just found your TR, and couldn't help but read it through! So enjoyable, you guys sound like you are having such a great time, and your kids are at that perfect "Disney age" (can't wait to go when mine are older and "self cleaning" ).
I, too grew up in Southern Ohio (a tiny little town called Bainbridge)... before Disney, King's Island was the best park I had ever been to, your husband was right, makes it look like crap .
So neat that you got to see De Vine. We looked for her, but never saw her! It was so funny, every bus ride we took, my DS3 would look out the windows at the lush greenery by the side of the rode and ask if she was in there!
Looking forward to more!

Beautiful boat ride to Mk. gotta hurry though to catch Passporter friends. Its already 10:50!! Got to the entrance and DH gets rejected. Seems his card got flagged invalid and his print didn't match. Nuts! So we had to go over to the CM's at customer service. LOng Story short - when they redid DS11's card, they aqually cancelled the wrong card. Both DH and DS are "John" so they missed the middle name and age difference, and now son has two cards active and hubby has none! This problem was diagnosed instantly, however, it was like the first time this had ever happened. OF COURSE IT WAS! Then, it took 3 CMs about 15 minutes to fix it! So back to the gates we went, along with a one time fast pass they gave us for the trouble! When we got back to the entrance they were giving out bracelettes so that took a little longer than usuall Then we headed to dole whip, except earlier in the day I had gotten my directions confused, and headed the wrong way round the castle! Had to stop and ask a CM. Finally found Aloha Isle about 11:30 pm. Some of the great Passporter folks had already left. But I got to meat several. Belle, and Tinker Me Happy and a few others. We had a great time chatting and also fretting about what FAY was about to do to us! It was really funny, my DH had sortof laughed about having a meet up with folks I had met online, but then all the hubby's started talking and We had to pull them apart in the end!!! It was great. Betty was so nice, and the two Karens, and Kristen too. I wish I had been there sooner. Next time I go to WDW I will definetly want to schedule another meet. After the meet, we went on POC again, then to Peter Pan, where we actually used that fast Pass they gave us. Why is Peter Pan line so long anyway?? But it is a good ride, so different. Then we did snow white, mickeys philharmagic, and Pooh again. Then we headed to Haunted Mansion, where I did pay close attention to the tombstone in the cemetery before you enter the house. COOOOL!! Hubby even was a little freaked out by it!! (I am trying not to have any spoilers in my TR) So then we started shopping. We decided to buy the kids a surprise souvineer. What would it be, hmm, We decided on a stuffed donald and daisy. Since they didn't have them, and they really liked seeing them at breakfast at Tusker house. So then we did some more rides and fun, and headed back to the WL about 2am. We put the plushies in bed with each child, to be "discovered" in the morning! Not a bad day at all, I even forgot about FAY for a while there, but she would not be ignored!!!!
Great updates! We also loved the juice at Tusker House breakfast, and we also think that Hollywood & Vine is the best buffet in the parks. I'm so glad you got a chance to enjoy Wilderness Lodge. It sounds like you've had some great times so far, looking forward to hearing about the rest of it!
