Run Ria Run –The 5K Weekend Warrior PTR *Updated September 22* - Page 5 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

As i sit here at work, i had such chill bumps running up and down my arms as i read that! I wanted to cry along with you This is the best inspirational story i've heard in a long time! I am so happy for you and so proud of you all at the same time. You truly inspire me as i sat here this morning thinking I cant do this run...i'm just not made for it ...but after i read this story i was thinking that i gotta give it my all right along with you!
As i was in tears i was laughing as i got to the picture of Ben with the beer*LOL* I hope you enjoyed it and toasted one up for me! YOU DESERVED IT! I will have to say that the sushi looked delish too!
OKay WOW my patients are going to think i'm going crazy here laughing as i cry here at work!!
That story before that about your teacher i so remember from high school! Loved the smashing pumpkins, STP and all that and saved by the bell (BTW Comes on still on Noggin or something like that at night) I remember getting that sick feeling at the end of the year because they always wanted us to run on the track outside. I was ALWAYS last....i might have weighed all of four pounds but i had NO want for running but i longed to be athletic (make sense probably not).
okay so this is long winded but i'm so excited for you....so excited...
Maria-how wonderful. A huge congrats as I sit here and am crying along with your big accomplishment so far. You go girl!
Thanks! I called my mom today and she cried to...its weep-fest over here.

What a great idea to have your trip report printed out and bound.
Thanks! I do think I deserved that beer more than I have ever deserved a beer before.
I love my TR book...my DH was reading it last night and it was so funny how many things he didn't remember that happened to make it such a great honeymoon.

I don't know how I missed the start of your PTR but I just finished reading the whole thing....(I had absolutely adored your TR with your neice )
First off congratulations on all your wonderful accomplishments and great changes that are taking place in your life...school, a new home, the weight loss, quitting smoking (I give it to you on this one....I am stuck on 2 a day and I am trying so hard to just say no) and running in the 5K.
How wonderful that school is going to bring you closer to Disney (not a bad place for those weekend sprints or to celebrate a wonderful grade).
I can't wait to hear more about the trip but especially how the training progresses....

So I know everyone is supportive of my training for this 5K and all the life changes I am making for the better…but I bet your all thinking ummm what about WDW…this is a Trip Report not a episode of Oprah…
I will say I feel great today! I have my celebration beer and I am taking a day off of exercise today and I will start up week 6 of training tomorrow.
So here goes some trip stuff…
We still have not decided where we are going to stay…we are booking our stay next Friday. I am really thinking about booking the Coronado Springs. It looks really pretty…I love the décor…and most importantly to me it has a nice looking pool. Plus we have never stayed here and it helps on our quest to stay at every WDW resort.
We were thinking about splurging on the AKL…but we know we want to stay here for our anniversary weekend at the end of October. ..But if somehow they still some discounted rooms for 5Kers you never know.
We are going to purchase annual passes in September when everything settles down after our big move. It has always been a dream of mine to have an AP!
We are also hoping to swing by the Adventurers Club before it closes down …we will have to keep an eye out for that.
I did see that on Friday Septmeber 26th performing at the F&WF is Big Bad Voodoo Daddy…if any of you have seen the movie Swingers, this is the band in the movie. Swingers is one of my favorite movies “Vegas Baby Vegas”…and I love the music from it. So if it is at all possible I am going to “swing” over to here them play a couple of songs hopefully they will play my favorite song “it’s you and me and the bottle makes three tonight”
I am also reconsidering Spoodles for dinner on Friday night …I may want to eat somewhere in the World Showcase…and save Spoodles for another time.
I am also soooo excited to meet some fellow passporters this trip…it will be my first time coming into contact with a passporter besides myself…and I am so thrilled.
I know this update was not so informative…but if anyone has a suggestion for a place we should try in the WS I would love to here some suggestions...Also if anyone has stayed at the Coronado Springs let me know what ya thought.
Thanks for the heads up on the TurboDog...yummo...it kind of has a chocolaty taste...i love it!
Beer that tastes like chocolate?!? Really?!? I do not like beer...the smell of it....the taste of it....but chocolate beer?? I just might have to get me some of that to try!
We CSR! We stayed there in August 2006 for 10 nights and will be going back there for our holiday visit this Christmas. Of all our stays in WDW, CSR had the absolute best bus transportation. (Not so much to DTD, but I have yet to find a resort that does have good bus transportation there) Once we got used to the system that Pepper Market uses, we loved it! I'm not much into the pizza scene, but I order a personal sized one on a whim - the thing was huge, which could easily be shared with another person or 2, but it was also the best pizza I've experienced on property (not that I've ordered a lot of it, but DS & DH have ) I didn't use the main pool, as I had a broken toe at the time and opted to use the quiet pool, which was much closer. DH & DS went to the Dig Site a couple of times and really enjoyed themselves. I specifically remember DS telling me how long the slide was - I guess it's longer than most. There are a lot of deluxe features due to CSR being a convention resort, so you kind of get the deluxe feel at the moderate price. You might enjoy the health club, that is free to resort guests. We had nothing but positive experiences with the CMs and with our stay, in general. We highly recommend it!
I searched for my TR from back then, but it really isn't looking so good. With the move from the old boards there is all sorts of weird character (&%q^) stuff going on and all of my photos are gone since the close of Imagestation. In fact, I don't think I ever finished it because it looked so messed up after the boards were moved. I do have my videos on YouTube though, so you might enjoy those. (In looking at them now, I see how much I've grown in making videos, but I think you can get the feel of the resort from what I've put together)

First of all! thanks for all this information about the CSR!
Turbo Dog is a dark beer...it still tastes like beer but it has a richness to it...i say it has a chocolaty taste...but don't drink it expecting a chocolate milk shake...lol.
Beer that tastes like chocolate?!? Really?!? I do not like beer...the smell of it....the taste of it....but chocolate beer?? I just might have to get me some of that to try!
Not looking to hijack the thread, but wanted to point out:
Hey lady... we have eaten in all but 3 of the 10 countries with TS restaurants Mexico, Norway, Japan, China, Moracco, UK and Canada. We would probably rank Mexico at #1 for WS-- we just love it! But its a bit sentimental and we have overdone it a bit I think. But I think you can consider Moracco and Canada places you must try at least once, and if you have never had Hibachi, Japan as well. We are trying France our next trip so I will let you know how that goes next month and Germany would be at top of my list if Rob didn't hate German food but I am sure its great! We have avoided Italy because of the rumored full refurb and dont want to lose a ressie. Hope that helps.
Let me know if you want pics of any of the WS restaurants we have been to that maybe you havent-- you know me I love to post pictures! lol!
