Day One Part Two – Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party

We hopped a bus to the Magic Kingdom and made it there without incident. I learned that this party was sold out because some people had been reissued tickets for this night because of so much rain the night of an earlier party (mostly locals, I suspect).

We used the Party entrance to get in with our tickets, since it was at that time only about 4:30. The first thing I did was get a picture of the castle de-blinged.

We also had a CM take a photo of us together, since we really don’t have many pictures of the two of us.

We decided that the Haunted Mansion would be a good way to kick off the night, so we headed there. The standby line was only about 5 minutes and we were in our doombuggies. Once we were finished, I figured we could check in for our ADR at the LTT.

We checked in, but the CM told me my ADR was at 4:05, which I knew it wasn’t. Of course, the one time I didn’t bring my ADR number with me, I could’ve used it. She gave me the impression that she didn’t believe me, which made me a bit mad, but I let it go. We were seated about 15 minutes later. I noticed while we were waiting that the characters didn’t have their Halloween outfits on.

But by the time we were seated and the characters started visiting our table, they were dressed in their Halloween outfits, so maybe they change at a certain time. The first one to come by our table was Pluto. He loved that we had matching hats and made a big fuss over me.

Minnie came by next.

Minnie even sat down with us for a bit right as our food was arriving. I asked her if she did any of the cooking, and she said she made the mac-n-cheese, so I tried some of it. Normally the day-glo orangey color turns me off , but since Minnie made it, I thought it would be rude to not have any. Having tried it, I don’t feel a need to ever eat it again.

Minnie was followed by Dale. I asked Dale if he did any cooking, and he said he made everything! Didn’t even give Minnie credit for the mac-n-cheese!

Next was Goofy, my favorite.

I was hugging Goofy too much to ask him any questions. Finally, Chip came around while we were eating dessert. He also loved my hat!

I told Chip that Dale was taking credit for all the cooking, and Chip insisted that he did the cooking. I was starting to think the characters were pulling my leg about cooking the food.

DM agreed to pose with Chip, too. Actually, Chip insisted on having his picture with DM.

We enjoyed our meal here as much as last time, maybe even more so since we got it for free! We used two table service credits and rolled out of the restaurant.

After dinner, we met up with a couple of the ladies from the other board, Crissy and Kathy, in front of the castle. We introduced ourselves and chatted for a bit. It was decided that we would ride Pirates, so we headed over to Adventureland. This was DM’s and my first time riding since the new Captain Jack Sparrow makeover, and I liked the changes.

After Pirates, DM wanted to go trick-or-treating, but I convinced her to wait. In my experience (this was my 4th MNSSHP), the later it gets, the more candy you get. The Villains Mix and Mingle show was starting in front of the castle in a few minutes, so we watched that. I love villains, but I didn’t think this show was anything special.

After the show, the villains came out for autographs, but DM wanted candy , so we walked around for a bit, but the lines were all pretty long. DM has been to MNSSHP before, and knows the candy lines are always long at the beginning of the night, but she still wanted to go trick-or-treating.

Soon it was time for the first parade, and DM’s allergies were bothering her so we decided that she would see the first parade and then leave after the fireworks. We ended up finding a pretty good spot, and I had the camcorder so I got a great video of the entire parade, coming right at me. But no pictures for the parade (but when you see all the Hallowishes pictures I’m posting, you’ll probably be happy about that anyway).

During the parade, a few CMs were handing out candy, which made DM happy. One CM in the parade came right up to me and yelled “you have a pumpkin on your head!”, which made everyone within earshot turn to look at me and laugh.

Once the parade was over, I figured DM would start stealing candy from little kids if we didn’t get some candy soon, so I headed for the candy path between Toontown and Tomorrowland. Unfortunately I headed for the Space Mountain side of the path, which was the exit, so we were foiled again.

Since we were there already, Kathy and I rode SM while Crissy and DM went in search of candy.

SM was a walk on, and the CMs inside were actually handing out candy, so Kathy and I got some and then went on the ride.

We found Crissy and DM and headed back to the hub to catch the fireworks. Crissy and DM had gotten some candy while we were riding SM, so I didn’t have to worry about DM shaking anyone down for their Snickers. While waiting for the fireworks, I got another shot of the castle.

Happy Hallowishes is a fantastic fireworks show, and I took lots and lots of photos. There are a lot of great fireworks and the lighting on the castle is spectacular. I can tell you don’t have anything better to do right now (), so I’ll post a lot of them.

That’s not all of them, either. Not nearly all of them. But I’m tired of posting them, so I’m sure you’re tired of looking at them! DM was ready to head back to AKL by now, so she headed for the bus while Kathy, Crissy and I continued on.

We walked through a candy/character station in Adventureland and saw that Tarzan, Jane and Terk were posing together, but we decided not to wait on the line. Instead, we continued on and ended up walking right on Splash and BTMRR.

I wanted to find some characters and C&K wanted to hit more rides, so we split up, planning to meet up again the next night. I decided to start in Fantasyland, but on the way, I stopped for candy by the Liberty Belle Riverboat. The CMs were giving away candy by the handfuls by now. The CM who handed me my candy threw a big handful in my bag and the other CM with her goes “that’s not how you do it!” He then proceeded to take off my hat, fill it with candy, and plop it back on my head.

Once I got to Fantasyland, I hit the jackpot!

However, it was very late and most of the characters still around were finishing up for the night. The CM with the 7 Dwarfs was announcing that they’d only be around for 10 more minutes, and then when it was time to go, he’d allow everyone who hadn’t been able to meet them to at least get a picture of them (and no sneaking anyone into the shot).

In case you were wondering, the Dwarfs didn’t sign any autographs. I think that’s probably because it would take ages to get signatures from seven characters. He also confirmed that they wouldn’t be back out again until the next Party night.

I decided to head to Toontown next, figuring I might meet more characters there. I didn’t find any characters around, but I did head through Alice & Mad Hatter's Treat Party. DM would’ve been thrilled, as CMs were giving out candy by two handfuls by then.

So now, my candy bag was full almost all the way to the top, and it was getting very late, so I decided to call it a night. But first, I needed to take a spin on the TTA as my final ride. I tried snapping pictures of Tomorrowland, but only got one good shot.

I tried getting photos of Main Street U.S.A., with minimal success.

And the flowers in front of the train station had gotten a Halloween makeover, too.

I boarded a waiting AKL bus, but I had to stand for the trip. DM was asleep when I got back, and it wasn't long before I was too.
