As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Hey, Angie!! Terrific reporting so far -- and kudos to you for not going postal over the 2-day hoppers. I'd've screamed and pulled out my hair...
But the title makes me thing that more trouble is brewing. Patiently waiting for more updates.

Angie, this is a superb report and I'm loving every minute of it. It sounds like you're certainly making the best of your time, especially as you've only got a couple of days to see the parks!

2 Day Park Hoppers? Are they insane?
We are doing a quickie weekend trip in September with only 2 day park hoppers and it worries me!
Great Update! More please...

Great trip report so far. I can't even imagine going all the way to WDW and only get 2 day hopper passes. Can't wait to read more.

I can't believe they only got 2 day park hoppers. You were alot calmer than I would have been. I love reading your reports and seeing all your pictures. POF was the first Disney resort I ever stayed at I loved it.

Three strikes & you\'re out trip! 6/6-6/11/06 Updated 6/24 Day 2 part 2!
<font color="purple"> Day 2 part 2 - My first time at RFC and coulda, woulda, shoulda…
As we entered the RFC, we encountered a line. There was a line to request a reservation! This did not look very promising. Troy went up to the podium and asked an employee how long the wait was and was told 45 minutes to an hour. I didn’t want to wait that long just to get seated let alone wait for our meal to be served, but everyone else seemed ok with it. I was worried because Joey had only had a Sprite all day(he’s not really a breakfast eater) and it was going to be close to 3p.m before he got to eat. I suggested we go back into the park for something to eat at Tusker House or Flame Tree Barbeque, but that wasn’t appealing to anyone else. So, wait we did. If 45 minutes wait isn’t bad enough, you are confined to their, strategically placed, souvenir store or the bar area (full), because RFC doesn’t not give out pager/buzzer thingys. They call your name from inside the restaurant and if you miss your name, you are S*** out of luck, my friend! The girls entertained themselves by scoping out hot guys. Seems that DFD had a bet with one of her friends that whoever came home from their vacations with the most pictures taken with good looking guys won $100. Needless to say, Joey was none to pleased with this. Even though he claimed the girls were more like sisters to him, it still irked him every time they made a big deal about a guy, which was quite often.
At about the half hour mark, I’d about had it and suggested to Joey that we just head back to the resort and get something to eat there, to which he just gave me the look and walked away. Only for my son! We finally got called and lined up(yes, another line) to wait for the hostess to seat us.
Our table was towards the back of the restaurant. The décor was cute, but very dark. Our server came and took our drink orders and we quickly picked out what we wanted so that we could get our order in. No one ordered appetizers,(well actually I did, but as my main dish), so we sat and waited for the entrees to arrive. And we waited… And we waited…..
I’d have to say the wait was at least 40 minutes for what amounted to a hamburger, pasta and grilled cheese. How long does it take to make grilled cheese and boil some pasta?! Joey’s hamburger would’ve taken the longest, but not that long. To top it off our table was right under an air conditioning vent, so we were freezing and hungry! Another thing, for the entire time we were seated there were 2 tables that seated 6 that remained empty! RFC does not know how to turn over tables. We did enjoy the hoopla (HOOPLA!) made whenever the VOLCANO dessert was brought out. And while it did look good, we didn’t dare order anything else for fear of being stuck there for another hour!
There was a hit here, my brushetta was very good.
RFC does not participate in the DDE program, so we asked for separate checks and I at least got my 10% AP discount and they got there DVC discount.
All in all, my take on RFC is “Been there, done that, don’t need to do it again.”
I glanced at my watch and noticed if we’d have gotten those EE fastpasses earlier we would’ve been able to ride it, as it was now 3:40p.m. Oh well, coulda, woulda, shoulda…
We headed to our separate bus stops for our afternoon rest, with the plan to meet back up in MGM at 7:00p.m.
Back in the room, Joey didn’t understand why we had to have so much down time, because he wasn’t going to nap. I just shrugged it off, as a mother knowing better. I set a wake up call for 6:15p.m, just in case and closed my eyes.
Next thing the phone is ringing and I turn to see Joey knocked out cold! As he woke up I mocked him (it was his turn for some abuse!) about not needing a nap.
As we were freshening up we get a call from Heidi, saying that they were heading out.
We ended up getting to MGM closer to 7:30p.m. Heidi had used the time to make her first 2 pin trades! One was a cast member lanyard pin to boot! She showed me the new lanyard she’d acquired, with a at Troy.
We headed to the tip board to check out the wait times. The CM manning the boards asked how he could assist us. By giving us the EMH schedule and locations to get our wrists bands, is how. He was, as is usually the case, very friendly and gracious.
Onward to RNRC to see if we could score fastpasses, while getting our wristbands at the same time. No luck with FP, all the machines were covered up at both RNRC and TOT.
The CM in charge of wristbands advised that once the park closed and EMH started, they’d open them back up. That was not the case however.
So, we made our way to the Great Movie Ride. The girls wanted me to point out some hidden Mickeys to them! On the way we stopped under the hat, so I could ask about new AP pins. There were 2 new ones available and Troy bought me one of them as a reminder of this trip. That was thoughtful, but let’s see if I really WANT to remember this trip when it’s all over! Just kidding. I was going to make the most of it, if only for the memories Joey would have of it.
As we entered the queue for GMR, we got caught in between a party of about 5 adults and a few kids, so we let them go ahead and reunite. Here’s where I enjoy hanging out with this family. They commenced on some good-natured ribbing with these people for cutting “us” in line and that Disney was going to escort them out of the park.
There interest was also peaked when they saw my Hidden Mickey book, so I shared with them a few to keep a look out for.
Next we headed to Muppets. There were 2 girls searching for hidden Mickeys, book in hand, so I had to point out the key under the mat! They weren’t impressed though.
For the first time, instead of hearing the familiar spiel of moving all the way to the end of the row and to not stop in the middle, do not pass Go (oops!), we heard sit anywhere you want! Needless to say, the theatre was not very full.
BTW, if it’s needless to say, then why do we say it?
After experiencing ITTBAB and then Philharmagic, I have to admit I neglected Muppets, but now having seen it the last few visits to MGM, it has definitely grown on me again. The effects are not comparable to the aforementioned attractions, but the humor is right up there. I seem to always laugh out loud at the show. Go Muppets!
Honey I Shrunk the Audience, however, needs some major nip and tuckage to rejuvenate it!
It was close to 10p.m already, where does the time go? Oh I know, waiting for that hot guy to exit the ride so that we can get a with him! Anyways, all of us were hungry and we wanted to make it to the 10:30p.m Fantasmic show, so we headed down Sunset Blvd.
Up Next- Day 2, part 3- No Chocolate Shake for You! And Do We get Caught?

I have the exact same feelings about RFC- this is one of many, many reasons you have and will make an excellent travel buddy.
Nice to hear about that helpful CM and I am anxiously awaiting another installment!

Yurllsch....I'm with you on the Being There, Having Been Done That, Not Ever Needing The T-Shirtness of RFC. That would have caused me to be very crankasaurus, thanks for the heads up. We've only done the one at DTD, and can safely assume that we won't again.
Sounds like Mom knew best about sommmmmeone needing a nap. I can't wait to do that on our next trip, we need to learn to re-lax on vacation. Super update, but stop mentioning chocolate shakes, you'll break me down!
PS...you go to WDW a lot!

We have a RFC locally so I have no interest in doing it at WDW. The lines and waits are always long. I the Muppets. I think it's some of the best humor at WDW. Looking forward to more.....
