the EIGHTEEN years, TEARS, CHEERS & Hurricane FEARS TR - Page 5 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Planning a Christmas with Mickey vacation in 2010
I just "discovered" your trip report and I am hooked. The same thing happened to us with the Mears bus at DME. We were expecting to watch that video that gets us all excited to be going to WDW and instead they played Inspector Gadget, lol.
I also tried Earl of Sandwich for the first time this trip and they are amazing. You are right.
Sorry about bad tummy, I hope it gets better. Can't wait to read more.

Sounds like everyone had a relaxing day doing what they felt like doing. Hoping you stomach does not bother you with a delicious meal at Spoodles in the plans...
We had a little time before we had to leave for dinner, so I prompted the boys to start getting ready and Alicia and I went out for a walk. After reading in Eileen’s TR about a short cut between Epcot and BCV, I decided we HAD to find it! There was one spot that I thought it would be, so being the adventurer that I am, we took that sidewalk, and sure enough, it took us out to the walkway closer to Epcot! Woo Hoo! Of course at one point, it looks like you are going to hit a dead end, or walk onto someone else’s balcony, but you don’t really! I was pretty excited at my “find”, and Alicia couldn’t help telling me again I was acting like a six year old! Yup!
We headed down the walkway in search of SAB. We found the pool, Beaches n Cream, Cape May, the winding back hallways of the Beach Club and how to navigate around the place! Alicia wanted to stroll on the beach, so even though I was in sneakers and she had flip flops on, I obliged. Just to even up the score (remember I’m acting like a six year old!) since I have to get sand in my shoes, she has to pose for pix!
This one came out pretty good.
She has to do the "self shots" cuz my arms are too short. I look totally goofy in this picture so just to be even-steven (remember six year old!)
she gets a goofy picture too!
After a few photo ops we head back to the room to see how the boys are getting along with “getting ready for dinner”. We still have plenty of time, but after last nights STRESS OUT over ‘being late’, I didn’t want another blow out. The boys were ready but Jeff wasn’t, so the kids decided to go fill their mugs. Bad Tummy was still haunting me so I asked Alicia to look for some immodium or something. I packed half a drugstore and of course the ONE thing I didn’t bring I REALLY needed! She was able to find a bottle of pepto for only a King’s Ransom, but it was worth it!! The kids sipped their drinks while I chugged my “pinkie” and Jeff finished primping. Soon we were heading out to the Boardwalk! Alicia and I were super excited to show the boys our secret find and we took the short cut out to the walk way.
Thankfully it was a nice night outside. Our first two ADRs we were seated within a couple of minutes, but we had to wait for this one. The nice thing about being on the boardwalk is the roaming entertainment. Alicia had a bit of worry that I was over by the water and maybe the little black box wouldn’t go off “so far away” from the restaurant, so I had to go in and find out the range on the thing! The kids decided to head out for a walk to check out the area. I figured if the thingy buzzed I could just call one of their cell phones and they would hoof it back. It was nice to see the three of them finally ALL getting along! So often it seems that two of them are getting along and there is a third man out!
While we waited we saw a man on a piano/tricycle. I liked that… seeing as my husband is a musician I thought it kind of cool. “Hey honey… when the kids are gone, you can get a job down here doing that and I can dress up as Minnie Mouse!” He just raised an eyebrow at me and smiled! Then another act came along and set up camp. A silly hat/magic sort of act. The kids had come back at this point and we only saw a few minutes of the act when our buzzer went off.
Not sure if I would catagorize this as Line Etiquette, but seems like it fits: Second Line Etiquette Problem Encountered while watching the hat guy on the boardwalk. I happened to be standing in the right place at the right time while he was setting up. Right up front!! Yay! Well, a family who happened to stroll along with grandpa grandma mom kid and a baby in a stroller decide to put Jr in front of ME. I guess because I am of short stature it is OK to bust in and just plop your kid where ever you want. I don’t make a big fuss since the kid is smaller than me, but then the grandpa comes over and pushes in front of other people who had been there FIRST to stand next to the kid. Then the grandma! THEN THE MOTHER with the CARRIAGE and Baby!!!!! They ALL just shoved their way one at a time in front of me and other people. HOW RUDE!!!!! So I quietly without saying a word went and moved myself DIRECTLY and quite closely in FRONT of the mother (who started it all by putting Jr in front of ME) and blocked as much of her view as possible! Really TICKED me OFF, but my thing buzzed at this point, so I left.

Great update! Sounds like you and Alicia had a nice walk before getting the boys. Glad she was able to find you some Pepto. We always try to pack a bottle of liquid Immodium. It seems we need to replace it each trip because it expires between trips, but it's so worth having just in case. The one time we didn't have it, we needed to buy that Pepto for a King's Ransom you speak of! Glad you were able to catch some of the entertainers on the Boardwalk. I think that Rude Family has taken up residence, as we've encountered them at least once on every trip! More please
