As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Wow....that cinammon bun is ginormous...and looks rather yummy, too! Looks like a great day at AK and Epcot...awesome you had a quickie meet with Heather. After your lack of sleep...maybe you should have joined Mom in the Shakin Jamaican concoction. Though....I like nothing better than watches a nightime show from my balcony in my PJs!!!

What a great day, although how the heck you made it through it with so little sleep is completely beyond me! I wonder if your mom is going to be the one the next day with very little sleep...
I seem to be able to function on very little sleep while at Disney!

It did seem that the event was not as organized as usual, 5 hours to meet the villians seems insane. While it would have been a great meet, waiting 5 hours would not be.
So glad you got to enjoy the Seven Dwarf Mine Train with a shorter wait....120 minutes in the heat is crazy. We had a fast pass for it last week which was wonderful as it was so HOT and the wait times were 100 - 120 minutes the whole time we were there, in the evenings it was a bit less of a wait, maybe 65 - 70 minutes but still so long.
I am confident they've learned from their mistakes. I was reading about the Villains event and they are going to have specific times and queues for each villain, along with posted waits. I'm getting super excited for it!

I'm so excited to see him! And I can't wait until he's big enough to play with Lilly!

We got the cinnamon roll at the little bakery window near Tusker House. And yes, DM cracks me up all the time though not always on purpose.

I normally don't get fancy designs, but I figured I'd be spending so much time in Disney that it'd be ok. The nail tech who did my nails doesn't normally do fancy designs and was a little scared, but when I showed her the picture, she saw how easy it was. It was kind of cute how proud she was when she was done! They took a picture for their Instagram page.

Just joining in. You and I were there at the same time as we were down for Star Wars Weekend but got lucky and the Rock your Disney side was happening that weekend.
The lines were crazy and thought it was just crazy the wait line for Maleficent was 5 hours. I was good just seeing her in the short villain parade.
Day Four – Sunday, May 25 What do you mean, “there are no Italian Margaritas?”
DM slept in and I had a leisurely morning hanging out in our villa. That’s my favorite thing about FP+. We know we’ll still be doing the headliner attractions even if we arrive at the park later in the day. We were going to Epcot again today, but to enjoy FW as well as WS.
We weren’t all that late – my notes say we got to the park at 10:00. For me, though, that’s pretty late. We had SE FP+ to use, so that was first on the agenda.
FP+ is a good thing
Then we went to the Land to get some breakfast. I forget what DM had, but I had a kid’s breakfast platter.
When we finished breakfast, our LWTL FP+ were ripe, so we walked over there. The standby was listed as 45 minutes (), although it looked to be a bit shorter than that. Luckily, we were using FP+ and got right on.
Next up was one of DM’s favorites, Captain EO. I was surprised to see the theater nearly full. I guess that is an indicator of the crowd level that day. When the show ended, I got an even better indicator:
Yeah, no. We didn’t ride. And anyway it was time to use our Soarin’ FP+. There was a bit of a gap between them because when I copied my FP+ to my Mom’s MB, she didn’t get the exact same times, but they did overlap. We were happy to have FP, because the standby was posted at 105 minutes.
World Showcase was calling to us, so we answered the call. We started our tour in Mexico, first doing the Gran Fiesta Tour. Then DM wanted to do some shopping and I spotted these super-super-cute little miniatures.
Can you tell which one I liked best?
ADORBS!
As cute as I found it, I didn’t purchase it. Not sure why. Maybe I’ll get it for myself on my next trip. Anyway, we continued around, shopping and strolling. I got some pot stickers in China.
I find myself getting these quite often even though they are completely ordinary. I can easily get better ones here in NYC in like 15 different places I could name. But I do love pot stickers, so I get them anyway.
DM didn’t recall ever having seen the film, so we watched it. China is one of my bucket list destinations, so I like to watch it every once in a while. Once we saw it, DM remembered she had, in fact, seen it before!
When we got to Italy, we needed something to drink. We waited in a long line to get Italian margaritas only to discover when we ordered that they weren’t ready and wouldn’t be for some time. Oh noes! Seriously, I kind of pouted about it for a while.
Oh well. We decided to head back to OKW to get ready for our ADR at Flying Fish Cafe, so we started back. A boat was arriving, so I asked DM if we could ride (I love the walk, but I also love a good boat ride).
We got to the bus stop and noticed a long line of people at the next bus stop (the bus stop for OKW is a little weird – there are 3 entrances in one spot rather than an entrance at each stop). I thought they might be waiting for the OKW bus (based on where they were waiting – in front of the OKW bus stop, but in a section of the queue in the middle of the bus stop – it’s weird I tells ya!). I asked the people waiting if they were waiting for OKW. Yup. I explained they were in the wrong spot, but it didn’t make sense for anyone to move (it would’ve been hard anyway). So we just lined up behind them. Another couple arrived shortly after we did and got in the correct line. I let them know people were waiting for OKW in the wrong spot and so they joined us in the wrong line. Luckily, the bus arrived just then, so there were no other issues.
We relaxed at the resort for a bit and then got cleaned up for our dinner. I thought about the best way to get there and then in the end decided a taxi would be the simplest (and of course, the quickest). We had an early ADR, so we were seated almost immediately.
For starters, I had what I often order – tomato and mozzarella!
I was slightly disappointed with it, because they put pepper on it. I don’t really like pepper to begin with, and they seemed to put kind of a lot on there.
For main course, I considered the scallops and the crab cake (appetizer). I decided to get the crab cake, and DM got the scallops.
I hate to admit it, but I felt like the crab cakes were over seasoned as well. It really disappointed me, because I consider the Flying Fish to be one of my very favorite restaurants. DM wasn’t too keen on her scallops either (though I think it’s because she likes them cooked a bit longer). I don’t often have disappointing meals at WDW, but I’m going to put this one down to a bad night. And in addition, this was DM’s first visit and after my raves about the place, I really felt let down.
After our meal, we left the restaurant to discover it was raining (our table had been in that little room in the back with no windows). Rather than walk through Epcot to the bus stop, which had been our original plan, we decided to just grab a taxi back to OKW. The rain stopped like moments after we got back to our room, and we were able to have the taxi driver drop us off at our door, so we didn’t have to worry anyway.
The MK was open late this night, and my original plan had been to spend some time there, but DM and I spent too much time gabbing and then I got tired, so the MK would have to wait.
Up Next: How many drops?

Wow, the park was packed! Was it down as a busy crowd day? I've never visited at that time of year, so I don't know. Is it a holiday weekend?
Oh that is such a shame about the Flying Fish Café. Mind you, the first time we went in 2004, we had a very disappointing meal and only went back because so many people (you included I'm sure ) raved about it and I'm so glad we went back there, as it's now one of our favourites.
