Please Help = too big for the rides ??? - Page 5 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Does anybody remember how the lap bar works on EE? My mom wants to ride but she is afraid that it will be one lap bar for two people and my skinny little sister will go flying out! What do you think??

Tell her I hope she enjoys her ride! EE has 2 seats next to each other and each seat has its own lapbar. She can see pics of the seating here on allears. There is one review of the seating under the pictures but if she's interested, there are more recent comments on a separate page.

Reason: fixed link
I just got home from Disney and had NO prblems with any of the rides. Everything was a great fit, and I wasn't even nervous once I sat down! The only exception to this is Star Tours, where the seats are pretty small, but the seat belt is VERY long and I feel it can accomodate most everyone!

I am a size 22 and my Hubby is 6'6" tall and a big linebacker sized guy. We did fine on everything - except for Dinosaur. DH's knees were pretty banged up by the end, but that was height more than anything else. We have 2 preschool boys and managed to Fly on Carpets, with Dumbo, and over Neverland without issue We even went Soarin' and had a blast. You'll be fine, and don't worry about how you'll look in photos or takiing it slowly at times. You're there to have fun and those who are there with you love you no matter what !
You know, kudos to gebsmom for taking the leap and putting embarrassment aside and starting this thread! GEBSMOM, look at how many people's fears have been lessened or put to rest because you took the chance! You've made so many vacations happier and more fun. On behalf of my Pooh-sized parents, DH and sis, GEBSMOM - You're the Wind Beneath Our Wi...err...Carpet Rides! Good job, Sweetie, and hope you had a MAGICAL vacation!

My husband is pooh size and has no problem with any of the rides at Disney. The only ride I think everyone has problems with is the tea cup ride. I hate that ride I bang my knee everytime but that is the only reason. My son loves it though.
If my Pooh-Sized self rode the anti-pooh friendly Tea Cups under any circumsances, there would be a pooh-sized clean-up underway. I just can't DO spinning LOL.
I have never had a single problem with any of the rides at the world. I am 315 and carry most of my weight at my stomach and I fit in all the rides just fine. Goooo and have fun.
Hi! I am 5'1" and very pooh sized. I had no problems with most rides. I didn't ride the coasters and some of the other rides. But I had a terrible time on the Small World ride. I had a total knee replacement about 10 years ago. I had a very painful ride because I couldn' bend my knee enough to sit comfortable on such low seats.

Going on my first Disney trip for my Honeymoon on 9-3-07!!! Can not wait!!!!!
I was in WDW in 2004 and at the time I too was "Pooh Sized" (I LOVE that term - gotta remember it). I was 285 and only 5 foot 3 inches - kind of Pooh Height too!! I found that I was able to fit in all the rides, but there were a couple where I had my DS ride with Dad, 'cause I was afraid of the bar not holding him in place (ie: Big Thunder Mountain) and since Dad is so skinny its infuriating (5'9" - 120 lbs soaking wet and eats everything in sight!!) they fit much better together. I am soooooo looking forward to our upcoming trip. I've lost 100 lbs due to gastric bypass and feel TERRIFIC. Can't wait to see how the rides feel now and how much easier it will be to walk all day and all that. Anyway - don't worry, you'll fit and you'll have a great time - I never felt self conscience about my size while there - there are a lot of Pooh sized folk and Disney knows it!!

OMG - He's sooooo grown up!!!! And an EAGLE SCOUT!! I can still remember my cute little Tiger Cub! 2016 Reading Goal - 75 books
You all have really put my mind at ease. I am 250, 5' 7'' and carry my weight like an plus-sized Barbie doll... big boobs and big hips/thighs with less in the middle. I struggle at Six Flags so I was of course worried about Disney's rides too... I love roller coasters and so does my Pooh-sized 6-foot husband, and we would be DEVASTATED if we couldn't do EE, RnR, or any of the Mountains.
I hope that you all are right and that we'll have no trouble with things - we may be big folks, but we're young folks and like to live life to the fullest regardless of size! This thread has given me a small piece of peace of mind. Can't wait to try out your suggestions at the World!

I love that you refer to us larger people as "Pooh sized" I have never heard that expression before and I love it especially because my favorite character is Pooh Bear (ever since I was a baby). Thank you for making me and my husband feel comfortable in our stuffing.
I'm big and tall and I worried about going on rides. I am almost six foot tall as well as "pooh-sized." I had a great time. CM's are very helpful. It is a great.
