Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Good luck deciding on the DDP, like Linny I think we have decided that we are also not fans of the DDP. We find we spend so much more on adult drinks and appetizers the convenience isn't there and we struggle to use all the QS credits so we lose value there. That doesn't stop me going back and forwards on it even when I bought a TIW card just so I wouldn't second guess myself. In the end we like the flexibility to cancel a couple of meals if we feel like we have been eating for Scotland. In February our Chef Mickeys night I overheard a family talking about just having toast for dinner and was so jealous even though Chef Mickeys is one of our favorites.

I am with you on POR it has always been one of our favs and we love Riverside Mill and always go back and visit every trip.

I think with the number of TS meals you have planned that are buffet or all you care to enjoy the DDP might actually make sense for you. I would double check the numbers and see if you come out ahead!

I wish we were eligible for TIW, I would definitely go that route if we could!

We loved Riverside Mill too, they have so many yummy choices!

I think you are right, Heather! I did the math, and with all of the current meals we have booked, we would definitely come out ahead with the DDP I guess my decision comes down to whether or not we could save more by just going OOP and dropping some of the TS meals. I'm just not sure I want to drop any

Oh boy, I'm sorry for neglecting this PTR for so long! It's been a crazy month, with soccer and softball winding down, as well as school, we've been busy with games and end of year awards parties. All that fun stuff! On top of that, I'm getting over a nasty sinus infection/strep throat combo that was lots of fun, not! Thankfully I was able to keep it to myself and no one else got sick

The girls finished up with school yesterday and the three of us just spent this day at home, playing in the yard and watching movies. It was a nice relaxing way to start off our summer vacation As much as I am looking forward to this trip, I'm trying my hardest not to rush the summer, because as soon as our trip is over we are heading back to school We fly home early on the morning of 9/2, and school starts back up on 9/3 thanks to a change in the school calendar (we usually start on the Wed. after Labor Day, but because the Jewish Holidays fall early this year they switched things around to accommodate days off for that). Lots of other districts decided to hold off the start of school until 9/9, but ours just decided to start earlier. Oh well, we'll be ending the summer with a bang, that's for sure!

Two months from now we should be on our flight heading down to Orlando We are scheduled to take off around 5:10 pm, which should get us there around 7:30 that night. We'll take it easy that night and hit the hay early so that we can hit the ground running the next morning. I'm hoping to finally get my gang to the MK early enough to see the opening ceremony that we've missed on our last two trips. Third trip has got to be the charm, right??

And, so, here are the rest of our plans:

Wednesday 8/21 - MK early morning and an afternoon break at the pool.
Dinner at Chef Mickey's, then back to the MK or mabye Epcot

Thursday 8/22 - Epcot early for breakfast at Akershus.
No plans for the rest of the day, most likely we'll be strolling
the WS for the afternoon.

Friday 8/23 - DHS all day. We'll get there early and take another break before
dinner at the Brown Derby and then our first time at Fantasmic.
The girls are really looking forward to that one.

Saturday 8/24 - AK early with breakfast at Tusker House. We've always been
shooed out of this park early because of rain, so hopefully this year the
weather will cooperate and we can get some more exploring done.

Sunday 8/25 - Rest day. We'll spend the morning/afternoon lounging at the pool
before heading to dinner at the CMC that evening. Afterwards we
may take advantage of EMH at the MK

Monday 8/26 - Another Epcot day. Tonight will be dinner at the Rose & Crown
hopefully with patio seating for a view of Illuminations.

Tuesday 8/27 - An early morning at MK, we've got breakfast at CP before the
park opens. We'll see where the rest of the day takes us.

Wednesday 8/28 - I'm not sure what the morning holds, but we'll be back in
the MK for a 4:25 pm dinner at BOG, and then the Wishes
Dessert Party at 8pm. A perfect ending for our last night.

Thursday 8/29 - Check out of POR and head to the port for our cruise

Oh, I almost forgot ... if you couldn't tell from my plans above, we decided to keep all of our dining plans the way they were and go with the DDP instead of OOP. It just seems to make sense with all of the buffet meals we have planned, and now I don't have to decide on which meals to drop

Great choices and I'm glad the DDP will work out well for you. You're right that with the set-price buffets it's often a good deal. In your case the plan actually gives you more flexibility to eat where you want.

Loving all the plans! But I especially love the plans for 8/28 (it's my birthday). So when you're at the Dessert Party and watching Wishes, remember you're passporter friend.
