Your Key to Happiness . . . might not work - Page 5 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

im sorry to hear about ralph! my dog buster had a stroke my sophomore year of high school (only two years ago) in the morning of a school day. he was a great dog (even though he was also a runner). sorry about your loss!
A few days late, but I haven't missed too much! Great start to your trip. As I sit here with the PGA Championship on TV, I had to laugh at your comment on Thom ready to pee his pants from excitement. The shuttle van from the train station sounded like a great deal! And what a busy first day you had. Wow! Can't wait to read more.
And sorry to hear about Ralphie. Our Golden is 12 years old and his arthritis is really starting to get to him. We're ever so grateful that he's lasted this long! I can't imagine our household without him, as I'm sure you all struggled with as well. How is Heidi adjusting? Our second dog is very dependent on the older one, so I think when Buddy's day comes, we'll be getting another one shortly thereafter.

Sounds like you all had a wonderful first day together You should frame the picture of you and Maddie on AstroOrbitor as it is a beautiful shot of the two of you I miss my daughters being that little some times.
I took no pictures on this day. Apparantly I can't chase after little girls and take pictures at the same time. The few pictures in the installment were snagged from Monica and Macy.
I had just woken up and was just laying there when I heard my phone ding. Monica had sent a text to let me know that Macy and Lucius were heading to Epcot to get some early morning rides in and asked if Mary Devall wanted to go. She also let me know that the was ready. Mary Devall managed to stay awake long enough to let me know that she was going to sleep in, but I hopped up for my coffee.
Before long, everyone was up and we were able to having a nice lazy morning. By the time that we had eaten breakfast and were ready, Macy and Lucius returned from Epcot and we took the boat to DHS.
We zipped through the bag line and the gate (even though we hadn’t transferred our paper AP’s yet for the plastic ones with the RFID chips). A parade was just starting, but the gates beside Oscar’s were opened so we cut through there to Sunset Blvd and grabbed FP’s at RnRC.
We hopped in a long standby line for TSMM, but within 5 minutes, everyone stated they were so we bagged it and went to eat at Pizza Planet. Monica and I had already laughed at how similar Macy and Maddie’s eating styles were. Nicknames for Maddie include Snack Bar and Two-Breakfast Maddie, so that probably gives you an indication of the eating style. Mary Devall, on the other hand, is the exact opposite, so when she was the one who first said that she was hungry then Monica figured that we had better move on it.
Monica ordered food for all seven of us while Charlie and the girls grabbed a table for us upstairs. The amount of pizzas, salads, cookies and cupcakes on our table was incredible! I’m pretty sure that everyone was stuffed by the time we finished lunch.
We headed to ST, but the standby line was way too long. Instead we rode GMR where we sat in the first full row right behind the driver. He was a perky guy who practically bubbled over as he gave his intro, but Monica and I both heard him when he leaned over to the family sitting in the half row beside him and quietly but firmly asked them to put away their food. He didn’t miss a beat because he went right back to his bubbly self . . . and they put away their candy cuz it was evident that he could get a little scary if he needed to.
Because of our location, Charlie and Maddie ended up sitting right behind the gangster when he took over our vehicle. He eyed Maddie and asked her what she was looking at. He stared at her for a while, but I don’t think she ever said a word to him. She did lean in closer to Charlie though.
When we came out of the GMR, an AI show was just about to start, so we snuck in the back and enjoyed the show. I think we all ended up voting for different people though.
Monica then suggested that we see Drawn to Animation with Mushu. Mary Devall was intrigued because it had been so long since she had seen it that she didn’t remember it at all. She ended up loving the show so much that she said it was her favorite thing that we did that day - - and that including riding RnRC! It is such a cute show.
After laughing with (and at) Mushu, we split up with the girls riding RnRC and Charlie and Lucius going to the stunt show. I think Maddie was a bit torn because the stunt show suddenly sounded like a fine idea especially since it involved being with Charlie (and she was quickly growing fond of Lucius too who was as sweet as could be to her ). She ended up going with the girls though and enjoyed every moment of it.
I rode with Maddie who reached out to hold my hand right when our car moved into position. As soon as we took off, she also grabbed the handle which jammed my hand into the metal. I was screaming on the ride, but out of pain. I finally managed to wedge my hand off the handle while still holding her hand, but I had a red mark days later. I wouldn’t have missed holding that little hand for anything though.
After our ride, Macy and Mary Devall used our extra FP’s to ride again while Monica, Maddie and I enjoyed snacking on caramel corn outside.

What a great day so far! Boy you must have all been really hungry to give up going on TSMM to eat instead. I completely understand though. Jonathon has second breakfast quite often and pretty much is always hungry too and willing to snack. I don't know where it all goes though! LOL I love the RNRC picture!
