Noelle & Nicolaus's Adventures in Disney World : A PTR - Page 5 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Now on to the last two in our fun travel party, my parents. Fondly referred to as Meme and Opa by my kids they are kids at heart (real age not to be disclosed ).
Last time they were at Disney was September 2011 when I convinced them to take some points off our hands so they wouldn’t be wasted (we could not bank them). It was then my mom told me she wouldn’t go to Disney again without me. (I simply see that as I get to go to Disney more lol).
My whole family went to Disney in 2003 and that was my mom’s first time. She had picked the Poly and really loved it. We had some very magical moments and memories. My dad had been before that I believe he stayed at the campgrounds with my Oma and Opa. I do remember my Oma telling me the story of him falling asleep on the benches in the Contemporary.
This time they get to see the magic of Disney through their grandbabies’ eyes. When I had originally asked them they were slightly hesitant but they jumped on board quick. My mom actually said it would be fun to do Disney with the expert; especially since I am doing all the planning. Here is a little Disney info about them!
Meme:
Favorite Disney Movie: Beauty and the Beast
Favorite Pixar Movie: Up
Favorite Ride: People Mover
Favorite Place to Eat: Kona Kafe
Opa:
Favorite Movie: Jungle Book
Favorite Pixar Movie: He says he does not have one
Favorite Ride: Any Thrill ride (Loves Splash and Space Mountain)
Favorite Place to Eat: O’hana’s for dinner

Ok so it has been a million years since I posted an update….well maybe not that long but it feels like a while. I shall commence blaming my lack of updating on several things.
One the holidays, which are already crazy then, add in working full time and two children (three if you count one very “kid at heart” DH).
Two Noelle’s second birthday party. It was the first time I hosted a party/get together at my house so I had my own type A personality obsessing over every detail. It was not even a big party but I’m ridiculous so I had to make sure everything was just so.
Third is the fact my DH and I are considering moving. Things are very up in the air about the move. I have been thinking about moving for some time. My current job is simply not listening to its employees anymore and I think they are moving to a module that will result in poor patient care and unhappy staff (we are already fairly unhappy). As a result I had been toying with the idea of moving to a hospital that would be an hour from my current job (two hours from where I live). At first I thought I would just commute but the more my DH and I talked about it we thought it would becoming tiring and overwhelming to commute over 2 hours to work. Then the idea of moving came up again. At first we toyed with just moving closer to the first hospital I was considering but some factors like child care came up, plus the increased distance from my family. Long story short despite my dislike of snow we are thinking of moving back up to NY from VA (I know my dislike of snow makes a NY move sound crazy but sometimes you just have to push through some bad for a lot of good). The idea of moving closer to family was very appealing, plus the fact I already would have child care secured makes my anxiety level decrease. So I’m hoping that I get an interview with a hospital I used to work with up there. I was generally happy there and the area really is beautiful, even if it is covered in the white stuff more than I would like. So send some pixies that things line up for us to move, as we have to worry about all the stuff that goes with that too!
So all those things provided a perfect storm of no PTR updating but I am back and ready to consume at least half my brain in all things Disney!
I left off saying I was going to share our dining plans. Let me say I am very excited about getting all of our reservations as I did not think I was going to be able to. Here is the list,
Sunday 5/4 : Be Our Guest for dinner
Monday 5/5 Biergarten for lunch
Tuesday 5/6 1900 PF for breakfast, Hoop De Doo for dinner
Wednesday 5/7 Ohana for dinner
Thursday 5/8 Garden Grill for dinner
Friday 5/9 Chef Mickey for breakfast, Dessert Party that evening
I almost did not get the BoG reservation, at first there was nothing at all that day. Thankfully my super stalking skills taught to me by fellow passporters got me in at the perfect time The fun thing on the list is that the 1900 PF is actually a surprise for my whole family. Somehow I counted our credits wrong originally (we plan on doing the dining plan) and realized we had an extra meal credit so I told my family I would pick a surprise meal and not tell them until the day of. I much prefer to surprise people then be surprised and I thought a funny breakfast with the Mad Hatter would be perfect for that. Plus my DH loves the GF so he will always be in favor of going there for any reason; it’s even better if the reason is to feed him .
The other thing I am most excited for is the dessert party. Sadly I cannot remember the last time I got a chance to see the fireworks from start to finish. Plus I think Noelle is going to love seeing Tinkerbell fly down from over the castle. Not to mention any time I get dessert it’s a good day! My only fear is if it ends up being too loud for Nic since he will only be 9 months. I guess we will find out.
Those are our only reservation/sit down meals. The rest of the time we will just snack and do CS, which is completely fine for my DH and I but I am nervous if my parents will be ok with it. Sometimes they can be surprisingly picky in these situations. Worst comes to worst they will just pay OOP for a meal. I wish there was a way only my DH and I could be on the dining plan and not all of us, but since my parents are under our reservation it’s either all or nothing and my DH and I prefer the dining plan.
Next I will give an over view of what days we will be at what parks. Hopefully I can meet up with some of you guys who are going to be there when we are!
