Three Adults & a Toddler – 6/7-13/09 - UPDATED 11/20 - Page 49 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Kelly - you did an awesome job with your review of the Sunrise Safari.
Steph and I tried to remember the guide's name: I thought it was Greg and Steph thought it to be Mike. I figured if it was Mike you prolly would remember that.
In any case, he was really good and you could tell that he enjoyed his job.
Your pics are terrific too.
Dylan did come and sit in our laps and he kept high 5ing us too. He was such a ham that day! I know I've said it before but he is such a cutie!!
I really need to finish this as I’ve already started my PTR for our December trip, which is 32 days away!!
Ok, so after the Sunrise Safari and breakfast we decided to stay at AK and do some stuff. Mike went to get FPs for EE, which were for 12:35pm – 1:35pm (the only reason I know the time is because I still have one since we used the Baby Swap and didn’t need one). While Mike was doing that, Becki, Dylan, & I rode Triceratop Spin. After our ride, Mike was back, so Becki & him went to ride Dinosaur while Dylan and I tried to stay cool. We went in the gift shop in Dinoland and I ended up buying Dylan a Goofy Wild Racer ($5.28) to help pass the time with him. I didn’t even finish paying for it before Mike & Becki were back. So Mike took over with Dylan while Becki & I rode PEW. I LOVE this ride!! I hadn’t ridden it in so long either. I think last time we didn’t have time, the time before that I was pregnant, and maybe the time before that it was down for refurb. All I know is that it had been quite a while. Once Becki & I got off we saw the boys by the games where Dylan was running around.
I know it was VERY hot and we decided to call it a day. I’m assuming we didn’t make it back to EE; I don’t know. I don’t have it written down that we went back. I think we stopped in the Baby Care Center on the way out for a diaper change – boy was that a nice place! And grabbed a few PP pics on the way out.
I think Dylan was asleep.
We made it back to the resort at 11:50am and I put Dylan for a nap. Becki went down to the pool while Mike went exploring the resort, which left me to rest in the room while Dylan napped. Dylan woke up about 1:20pm and we decided we’d go down to the pool too. First we needed to eat, so we stopped at the Mara and the 3 of us shared a chicken dinner – roast chicken & fries and a soda ($12.66).
The walk to the room from the bus stop - he was O-U-T! See how red we are too - that's from the heat - not burning.
After refueling we went to find some chairs. I had brought Dylan’s lifejacket and a few toys with us, but ended up not using any of those. We were in the deeper section and Mike got in first with the intent to hand him Dylan. But Dylan was having none of it! So I decided to take him to the kiddie pool. He still wasn’t sure about it, but warmed up to it after a little while. Becki also came to join us at one point. Then we decided to head back to the big pool and go in through the zero entry section. Dylan warmed up even more then and Becki & Mike got him to put his face in and blow bubbles. He was having a great time! I only wish I would have the camera with me – oh well. Next we saw a little girl and was ‘smitten’ and wanted to do everything she was doing – which was basically running into the pool. Now Dylan had only been walking about 4 months at this time so he wasn’t that steady on his feet and every time he stepped on the little drain area he’d slip. I finally called that quits because I did not want to be visiting the ER from him cracking his head open. And in turn he did not like that and decided to cry.
We were back in the room at 3:30pm and then changed and headed out to Epcot at 4:45pm. (Dylan snacked on Fruit Loops during this time.) We got to Epcot and grabbed some PP pics and then checked on FP for Soarin’ – no luck. So we rode Living with the Land and then on to Figment and Ellen (now we LOVE Ellen – stupid judy! LOL).
I am NOT a fan of the upward looking shot.
Every time we go in here I say I want these chairs.
Next we headed into WS. We were a bit hungry again so I decided on a pretzel from Germany ($4.50) and then I wanted a drink they had there too, but it wasn’t ready (supposed to be an FAB, but was only an AB at that time), so I moved along. Mike went to get something from Japan – a California roll and a Kirin Draft ($15.44). We met back in America and grabbed a table. I also picked up some cheese dip for my pretzel and a strawberry smoothie ($5.32) there, which I also had to chare with Dylan. Becki had popcorn.
Next we walked through Japan, then headed to Morocco and watched Mo’Rockin. We love them too – Mike has one of their cds. But the main guy was missing tonight – we were pleased to see later (on the in-laws trip that this was only temporary). Next we hit France where I bought my mom a wine bottle wrap (soft) that said ‘Pour Me’ on it for her birthday ($21.25). Then we went to see the France movie while Illuminations was going on. We also love this movie.
Epcot had PMEMH tonight, but we didn’t really take advantage. We grabbed a few drinks (Diet Coke & a Moosehead draft - $9.25) on our way out. We were ‘home’ at 10:30pm.
Memories from our fifth day:
The weather today was…sunny & hot & humid - again. Do you see a trend here?
Today we walked…6.48 miles.
Today we spent…$73.70+ (Dylan’s Goofy car, food, My Mom’s b-day present, plus the Sunrise Safari, but that was not included in this).
The best thing today was…Dylan getting used to and having fun in the pool.
The worst thing today was…crowds and heat in the morning!
The funniest thing today was…riding Primeval Whirl! (I tried to video tape it, but the camera thought I dropped it so shut off.)
Today we tried…the Sunrise Safari
and the result was…it was fantastic!!! I want to go back!!
The most magical moment today was…the Sunrise Safari.
Up next…the power goes out. (Shelley will have to tell her side about this one too.)

Oh yes the infamous outage! I shiver at the thought!
We are doing the Sunrise Safari again on Nov 15. I will see if "Greg" is still one of the guides and find out if that is his name! I hope we get him again as he was very informative!
More awesome pics!
This trip (since I am going with my DMom) I think I will be doing more ~less intense~ things like the shows and non thrill rides. Steph and I did Ellen's ride to cool off one day and I was surprised that I actually enjoyed it. I will have to try the Figment ride. It looks neat from your pics.

Kelly, wonderful update. Sounds like you had a fun time in Ak, as well as by the pool, and Epcot/WS! Sounds like Dylan had a blast in the pool. I'd be worried too about slipping in slippery Zero Entry Pools. Dylan looked wiped. Oh no about him getting the heat rash on his cheeks. More please
All caught up now... The Sunrise Safari sounds great! I love your "ready to go" pic
What a day - 2 parks and pool time - Wow! (I Primeval Whirl)
Thankd about my pic! Well it helps when most of one park was started well before it actually opened.

He did get heat rash pretty bad while we were there. I had some ointment with me that helped, but his poor little face and arms were always broken out. It did clear up soon after we got home though.

I get really red if I'm hot, so I'm guessing Dylan's going to get that trait from me.
Kelly, Im glad to hear ointment helped Dylan's Heat Rash. Skyler got that way when we took him to Sesame Place b/c of how hot it was. Those aren't aren't fun at all.
