10 Nights of Magic in The Orlando Trifecta-TR - COMPLETE!! 12/10 - Page 48 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Welcome! We're happy you've found the PassPorter Community -- the friendliest place to plan your vacation to Walt Disney World, Disney Cruise Line, Disneyland, and the world in general! Good time so far and better that I'm winning so far. That won't hold up as it never does.

My TR from my most recent trip is now underway. Includes: Universal Studios Florida, Disney World and Sea World Orlando Trifecta TR -Updated December 10th! TR is now COMPLETED!
Your dinner looked really good and I'm glad you are holding your own with casino luck so far!! Dave, if I knew how I won so much, it wouldn't happen.
I am so enjoying your trip!!
Dinner was good but my next two dinners will be even better. So far so good with the winnings but can't expect this to continue for two more days. I figure you wouldn't have an answer as tough to figure out. Glad you are enjoying this as I know you enjoy going here like I do.

Thanks and good so far and waiting for things to turn in the opposite direction as they always do. Dinner was very enjoyable.

Having a good time so far and winnings are good as well. I was glad about the wine as well as I wasn't sure if they'd honor both vouchers.

Wednesday, May 16th After being up late last night in the casino, I slept in until about 10 am. After getting ready for the day I went downstairs a flight below the casino floor to the Marketplace for a late breakfast. There are several choices in this area and I chose Marketplace Express as that was easiest. I just had a yogurt parfait and a coffee. It doesn’t come cheap as it came to about $8.00!
It wasn’t a nice day out as it was a lot cooler than yesterday with heavy rain at times and quite windy. I spent some time in my room as well and the casino over the next several hours. I did ok at times in the casino and not so well. Overall, today I was a bit down in the winnings department. It would have been nice to spend some time on the boardwalk, but unfortunately the weather wasn’t too cooperative. The weather forecast for tomorrow is a little better but not much.
Later in the day I returned to the Marketplace and went to Perry’s Pizza for some lunch. I had a slice of cheese with pepperoni and a coke. The pizza was quite good and typical of New Jersey style thin crust varieties. I did some more gambling after this and the result was up and down again. The losses were a little bit higher as I got close to the evening. Then, I returned to my room and got ready for dinner as I was going out.
My reservation is for 7:30 pm at Bobby Flay Steak at the Borgata Hotel and Casino, which Tara here recommended. Once I was ready around 6:15 pm or so I went down to the valet parking and contacted Lyft on the app for a pickup. There was a bit of a mix up with the app as my driver contacted me and said I was a few blocks away at a restaurant! The app gave my location as the Baltimore Grill near by. I told him where I was and he arrived in a few minutes. The ride was fine to the Borgata and we arrived shortly. Now, it was raining only lightly.
I was dropped off at the main entrance. I’ve never been to the Borgata, so it would probably take some time getting familiar where things are located. Most important is finding my restaurant. It’s quite nice inside and very big and impressive. It was quite busy and surprised me for a Wednesday. Even more so than the Tropicana was. I found out where Bobby Flay Steak was and almost adjacent to it was the B Bar and decided to go there before dinner. Although, it was quite a walk to this area and had to ask a CM where it was and one of the farthest points from the main entrance.
B Bar at the Borgata
It was quite busy at the B Bar as well and very noisy from the clientele and music. I had a glass of sauvignon blanc to pass the time before dinner. I enjoyed it here, but a bit too noisy at times. Shortly, I headed over to Bobby Flay Steak for dinner. Tara gave it a good recommendation, so I’m expecting big things from this eatery!
Casino floor near the B Bar
I checked in for my reservation and glad I made one as it’s quite packed tonight. There doesn’t seem to be many available tables. But, I know this place is quite popular and you do get a lot of the business crowd at the Borgata. I just had to wait briefly to be brought to my table. I got a couple of photos while I waited.
Quite modern décor and theming
Bar area and lounge near check in
I was seated and my server came to my table and went over the menu with me. His name was Grosche (hope spelling is correct). I think he said he was from Macedonia, which is one of the former states of Yugoslavia and now its own republic. He was quite good tonight and very knowledgeable about the menu and just a great server overall!
I decided on my choices and ordered a half bottle of cabernet wine as well. This would be a big meal and I’d be having two courses at minimum. I know some bread accompanied the meal and I remember it being quite good. Grosche returned with my bottle of wine, opened it and had me try it before pouring a glass. It’s was a winner! I can’t remember the name of it and should have noted this! I enjoyed it for several minutes and the bread before my first course arrived.
Tuna Tartare with various accompaniments including Red Onion, Parsley, Cilantro, Lemon Juice and Capers
This was excellent and just so full of flavor. I took my time eating this as I wanted to savor it for some time. I’ve had tuna tartare many times and this may be about the best one I’ve had. It’s generally prepared differently than this and usually in an Asian or sushi style. Since this is a steakhouse it makes sense as this is prepared like steak tartare.
After finishing my first course, Grosche cleared my plate and I enjoyed the wine before my main course arrived which was just a few short minutes.
Grilled Hanger Steak with a light Chimichurri Sauce on the side and accompanied by Bobby Flay’s Steak Sauce
This was excellent and quite enjoyable. The steak was quite flavorful and grilled a perfect medium-rare. I didn’t need the steak sauce as it was so good on its’ own. This is a smaller steak than the others on the menu as I didn’t want a large ribeye or strip steak. I think I made the right choice. The price was much less at $36 vs $50+ for everything else on the menu for the steak selections.
After enjoying my hanger steak and cabernet wine, which paired perfectly, Grosche returned to clear my plate and gave me the dessert and drinks menu. I looked it over and saw something I liked. I ordered a few things. I had a Grand Marnier, which I love after a great meal and a double espresso. Of course, it wouldn’t be complete without dessert!
He returned with my espresso and Grand Marnier in just a couple of minutes. He said my dessert would be coming up shortly. More time went by and still no dessert. You’ll understand why shortly. Grosche returned once again as I already was waiting ten minutes and just trying not to finish my espresso and drink before dessert arrived and said it would arrive shortly.
One of the best espressos I’ve ever had as you can see from the amazing color!
When I booked my reservation online through the Borgata website, I included that this was for a birthday, even though it’s not until tomorrow. A few minutes went by and Grosche brought my dessert and it was worth the wait!
Now you know why!
Espresso Crème Brulee with Almond Biscotti
This was so cool and why it took so long for my dessert to arrive. Nice gesture by the restaurant and even better as Grosche kept it low key by not singing happy birthday to me in front of everyone in the restaurant. The dessert and espresso were complimentary! Even with this, it was still an expensive meal!
The creme brulee was to die for and just so good. I took my time eating this as well. After finishing my meal, Grosche cleared everything and brought the check. I paid up and left Bobby Flay’s. It was a great meal and I will be back in the future on another trip to Atlantic City! Thanks, Tara!
My amazing server for the evening Grosche
Before contacting Lyft with a ride back to the Tropicana, I explored the Borgata for a while with some photos.
The check in area looks amazing and just love the look of it!
Entrance to the casino just past the check in area
After, I was done exploring I contacted Lyft and waited just a few minutes for the ride back to the Tropicana. After arriving, I returned to my room for a while before going back downstairs to the casino.
Hallway outside my room at the Tropicana
I also got some room photos!
Love the shower and bath!
Bedroom is nice as well. Rooms are better here than the other towers of the resort and worth the upgrade!
View from room and much clearer outside than earlier
At around 11 pm, I returned downstairs to the casino. To get there, you must walk through The Quarter, where the Havana Tower is located. It’s quite a nice and well themed area of the hotel.
What I see once I get off the elevator!
The Quarter’s dining district, which is quite popular. Especially Carmine’s Italian Restaurant which the cuisine is served family style. I haven’t dined there but plan to. There is another Italian eatery Il Verdi and an upscale one, which I dined at last year and enjoyed a lot. It’s just off the casino floor.
Heading towards the shopping area of The Quarter
Just prior to the casino floor
I played some slots for the next couple of hours, but didn’t win overall. I had some winnings that were good from time to time.
One of the slots I was playing, that had a dragon theme to it. These photos are from bonus rounds with extra winnings.
I stayed here until about 2 am or just a bit before. The casino was still very busy at this hour. While I was playing, the hosts came around and I had a coffee or two. I returned to my room and watched some TV for a while before going to bed. It was another late night, but an enjoyable day overall and especially my dinner at Bobby Flay Steak!
I thought, I could do days two and three in one update, but that won’t be happening as much more extensive than I thought it would be. Me and the details as always! Day 3 will be coming up in the next update.
NEXT: Day Three in Atlantic City and Another Great Dining Experience!

I am so happy that you enjoyed Bobby Flay's!! The Borgata truly is beautiful and is our favorite resort in AC. Lovely touch for dessert!! Even though you aren't up in winnings, it sounds like you are having a great time!

Your dinner looks amazing and that dessert looks wonderful. by the way
The entire meal was amazing overall and tough to pick a favorite. The steak or dessert, I'd say! Thanks for the birthday wishes!

That's why I went with that steak as smaller, less costly and therefore room for dessert, which makes an all win situation! Love the entire look of the restaurant.

I'm glad I finally tried Bobby Flay's as you suggested it to me over the last couple of years. Very impressed with the restaurant and will certainly return. The Borgata is a beautiful resort/casino and will go there from time to time. My player card is with the Tropicana, so most of my gambling will be done there. But as I'm going to Vegas I'll be at a resort that has the M Rewards (MGM owned resorts) as does the Borgata, so an extra incentive to go to the Borgata as well.
Loved the personal dessert and was so good and why it took so long! Thanks for the birthday wishes! Not winning muych now but enjoying my stay.

Dinner was great and I'm sure Mark would enjoy this eatery. They do have a good selection of seafood choices as well. The tuna tartare was certainly a winner! Thanks for the wishes and a nice way to spend it as much better than being at work!

Can I ask, (please excuse my ignorance but the closest I get to a casino is playing the penny falls in the amusements with my DD’s lol), when you won $200, how is it paid out? Do you get a credit somewhere ie your room or does it come out the machine in coins?
