Feelin’ Groovy: A Cam and Luke TR Completed 7/31 - Page 48 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Welcome! We're happy you've found the PassPorter Community -- the friendliest place to plan your vacation to Walt Disney World, Disney Cruise Line, Disneyland, and the world in general! I hope that Luke feels better quickly. That is a very hard thing for anyone to go through. My DH went through that several years ago. It's hard to see your love one suffer and there is nothing you can do.
I am sure that your support and care are much appreciated by Luke.
Happy Birthday & Anniversary! I hope Luke is feeling better & that stent comes out today. I'm so enjoying your trip report, as always!

Sorry Luke continues to feel so badly! Hopefully after tomorrow the worst is behind him.
I can't do SM at all, anymore, so I'm impressed you even try!
I think I'm going to be sensible from now on and skip Space Mountain. My head just doesn't like the whole experience.

Monsters Inc. is always a fun show! And I'm glad the coke, ice cream and sitting in the AC helped you feel better. I don't do SM anymore for that reason.
I think I have ridden SM my last time, but I do feel sorry for Luke that this is yet another ride he enjoys that I simply cannot do.

Sorry you started the day off not feeling well, and then the coaster did you in! . Great pictures from Buzz and IASW!
Pixies for Luke that the stent comes out tomorrow and you can both enjoy your day!!
I was very happy with the photos from Buzz and iasw as they made really nice scrapbook pages.

Thanks for sacrificing your Buzz Lightyear score for the pictures. They're amazing! We're always so focused on shooting, we've missed the incredible details.
I was amazed at all the details as I was taking photos. I guess I've only been seeing the targets.

Sorry Luke was feeling a little run down...but lying in the new grassy area must have been the perfect solution for watching Wishes and getting some rest.
Looking forward to more catching up tomorrow
The new grassy area was definitely a blessing for Luke that night and I was quite comfortable sitting there watching Wishes.
Never mind your scores on Buzz - I loved seeing all the photos from it!
I am much better at photographing Buzz than I am at scoring even without the camera in my hand.

I personally have no desire to visit high end and expensive, mall stores. It will take something special to convince me to go to Disney Springs on my next visit.
Great Buzz photos.
Happy birthday! And anniversary!
We were still dropped off at the Marketplace entrance as the new bus stop didn't open until a few days after we got home. I can see that as being a little off putting for folks like us who really aren't end to the high end stores. Luke told me this week about a new store that has t-shirts and shorts and quite a bit is priced under $20. Now there I can shop.
Thanks for the birthday and anniversary wishes, too.

We are finding a few coasters do not agree with us. Dave has given up on RnRC and the last time on SM, I struggled a little bit as well!
And since it is today....
Happy Birthday, Cam!!
Happy Anniversary, Luke and Cam!!
Thanks and thanks! My sis June and her DH John are both in the medical field and actually did some research because they used to love thrill rides, but now those rides make them sick. They found that it has something to do with the way some folks brains age. Whatever it is the cause, I just don't want to do what I know is going to make me feel bad afterwards.
Happy Birthday, hopefully Luke will get the stent out today and you both can go celebrate.
I'll post of more detailed update next, but the stent is out.

Happy Birthday Cam, and hope you guys have a wonderful anniversary as well.
Thank you! I remember hating the stent I had a couple of years ago, but Luke was even more uncomfortable than I was. Poor thing!

It sounds like you had the same reaction to Space Mountain as my brother did. I am glad you were able to rest a bit.
It does! I'm glad I saved it to late in the trip as it was definitely an unpleasant feeling for a about an hour.
First, Happy Birthday and Happy Anniversary! Another thing we have in common is celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary this year! I will keep Luke in my prayers that he gets the stent out today and has a speedy recovery. You both need to get walking again so you have the stamina for your October WDW trip. We were sorry that we had to leave you at the IASW ride on our last day together but next May we'll coordinate more F/P's together hopefully! I can't believe your TR is coming to an end. I know the rains moved in for your last day.
I've actually managed to walk most days, though we've had a couple that have been complete rain outs for me. But I don't enjoy the walking so much without my buddy. We must coordinate those FPs for next May. We truly loved touring with you and then with Pete.

Happy Birthday and Happy Anniversary! As I type this up, you and Luke are at the doctor's office(s). I so hope everything is going quickly and according to Luke's plans.
My cold/allergies that flared up on the way home might have had something to do with it, but every trip for a number of years now, I've done less and less well with SM. I gave up EE probably 4 or 5 years ago.

Kidney stones are a real bear on the body. Grrr!

Some of you may remember from my PTR that I had hoped to drive through Krispy Kreme for donuts on our departure morning. But sadly, I new store had not opened yet. It has been opened since sometime in June, though we had not been yet. One of my birthday requests was breakfast at Krispy Kreme, so we got ready and had donuts before heading to Luke's appointments.
Surprisingly, we got through the x-ray and appointment rather quickly. The stent was removed! Hallelujah! BUT there is still stone debris that somehow got trapped outside the stent. So Luke is having to use a strainer for the next week. The doctor feels pretty certain that all of this stuff should move on out. Luke will have another x-ray and follow up appointment next Monday. He jokes that he is building his own sandbox right now. There is a chance of a third procedure if all of this does not exit, but the doctor feels there is only a slight chance of that.
Thanks so much for all the birthday and anniversary well wishes. Both of us have slept very poorly the last two nights, and it has caught up with us today. Very little energy between the two of us to do anything. That hasn't been too bad since I forgot to turn in a requisition for sunny day, so the rain moved in while we were in the doctor's office. But the day did start sunny with Krispy Kreme donuts. In a little while we're headed to Shogun, a Japanese hibachi grill, for my birthday dinner. I'm truly blessed. I got my best ever birthday present 23 years ago, and he still makes every single day precious. We can neither believe it really has been 35 years.
